Friday night before the Hobart game the temp in Geneva was 11 degrees.  That's Cold!!  The temps your talking about are darn near tropical to us New Yorkers.
I've lived up north and at altitude. I lived in Germany for 3 years as a kid, and I've never been colder than when I lived in Central Texas. I know it sounds strange, but it just feels different. As long as there's no moisture it'll be fine, but if the rain comes it WILL SUCK. make sure you have a way to stay dry.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

I mean...it wasn't pleasurable having to chip off a substantial layer of snow and ice just to sit down to watch the game at Hobart.  Plus it was in the middle of an open field with the wind chills making it in the lower 20's.  I hear what you are saying.  It won't be the 80 degree temperatures we all probably associate with Texas - but I just don't see it being worse.

My hands and toes were so frozen after the game.  I tried sending out a text but I had to wait after about 5 minutes of my hand over the heater in my car before I could do things like close my fists.

Shoveling the snow out of my driveway last week SUCKED.  Is about 40 outside now and I just took the dog for a walk in my T-shirt. The darn snow is still here though.

There is absolutely nothing cold about 40 degrees unless its in July.

;D My hope is it's sunny and 40 because that will be perfect weather for smash mouth football

I need to clarify Cardinal Pride a bit....
We are UPSTATE New Yorkers.
BIG DIFFERENCE!
Yes there is life above Westchester county.

I went out today and it was 32----felt balmy.

TX brethren you can talk about cold and snow....
Walk a mile in any City from Buffalo to Albany in January, and then tell me how cold TX is!
;D

Thanks 91, that definitely needed clarifying.

32 is 32. The difference is history and experience. We don't get it often, just as y'all don't get the 90+ and 100% humidity. And a dry cold is easier to deal than a wet cold. Without mountains and tall trees to block that wind, and can be downright bone chilling.
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

It actually clarifies nothing. I know upstate NY is cold. I like the cold. I've wanted to live in Minnesota for a lot of years, but the wife isn't keen on the idea. I also know that folks up north laugh at the idea of Texas being cold and then are rudely welcomed by a cold front that redefines their understanding of Texas. Consider yourselves advised and take the advice as you will. ;)

awesome I have friends in buffalo and my brother taught at a camp in Maine for a few years. I keep trying to find a way to get to either the far north east or back to the mountain west. Maybe one day

I was going to say, anything over 40 degrees is ice cream weather in my opinion!

+1!

Ice cream?  I understand that the Blue Bell vanilla Cruthedral flavor custom-designed for UMHB is delicious.  Blue Bell does not have quite the cream content that Kimberly's does.  That ice cream is really rich!

That is upstate enough, isn't it.  (I had some for Thanksgiving dessert, on the pecan pie...   ;)  )
