The interaction with the UMHB faithful has been quite tame, seriously the biggest argument/discussion point has been the weather...

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. Then, love your neighbor as yourself.

I know this is a pipe dream but imagine if SJF won it all...

They would have to have beaten a top 10 team in each round of the playoffs (JCU, Bart, UMHB, UWW and UMU)...

The fact that they're facing their 3rd straight top ten team is kind if nuts in itself...
just to increase the hope... Have you ever looked at UMHBs road to Salem in 04? They beat #s 7, 3, 5, and 1 from the week 11 poll before losing to #2 Linfield in the Stagg
That's just crazy....

Funny that your talking about UMHB's road to the Stagg Bowl 2004. I just ran across this article the other day.

"A Pool C team and No. 5 seed in the South bracket, Mary Hardin-Baylor will make its first appearance in Division III's national championship game in Salem, Va. The Crusaders will be facing another Stagg Bowl first-timer in Linfield, a winner over Rowan in Saturday's other semifinal."

We barely got into the playoffs as a Pool C team and No. 5 seed in our own bracket. Anything is possible.

It would not let me link the story. But, if you put this in google it will find it.

UMHB's rally downs Purple Raiders, puts Crusaders in Stagg Bowl

Anybody know the SJF travel plans to Texas for this weekend?  Flying to Austin or somewhere south of Belton?  Wondering if there could be problems getting into town if ice is an issue on Friday.

I can tell ya they are flying thurs nite...so sppears they will 'beat' the weather

Any fans accompanying the team on the flight? Pep recalls back when AU played a regular season at Husson, the team chartered a flight and folks were offered seats on the plane for a price. A good number of parents bought in. Pep passed on that opportunity. Playoff time would be a different story.

Hey Pep...yeah apparently parents are offered seats for a price.  I heard that alum, fans were offered as well.  I considered, but then my wife (home with 4 kids) re-considered for me.  82 will do ALL the considering should dreams come true and we go to Salem.

And every UMHB game was on the road...

Now SJF is starting from a lower ranking in the polls...(UMHB was #8 in Week #11 of the 2004 season. SJF was #12!)

Not familiar with the term.

Urban Dictionary says: "Jesus Juke:
'When some Christian brings Jesus into an argument or conversation out of no where.'"

It's just a thing that started when someone was talking about _____ (i.e., sports) and pulls scripture or Jesus into the conversation out of the blue. That was the birth of "Jesus Juking". Also, Jon Acuff (I think he started the term) has a lot of stuff on it.

On the ASC board they were somehow talking about gynecology. I guess that's another kind of "Juke".

Someone mentioned that UMHB fans were kind. I simply quoted that I was being kind to my neighbor. The SCAC board thought I should be more rough with opposing fans and I said I didn't want to be known that way. I've been places where fans were unkind and didn't like it, so I'm being kind to my fellow D3 friends. If that is criminal, I'm guilty.

offense wasn't my intent, more humor than anything. its always better to not be "that fan" especially on the boards.

Once again, as someone who has lived in both the South and Northeast let me help. A Jesus Juke is a rare occurrence in some parts of this country. When it happens, it tends to bring things to a stop and everyone look around and ask, "how did that come up?". For someone in the South, a Jesus Juke isn't anything abnormal. A scriptural quotation or just an invocation is pretty normal under any and all circumstances.

If you aren't from the South, it takes some getting used to. But if you're from somewhere else and move here, you have to get used to it quickly.

Just a culture difference...
