I AM OFFICIALLY PUMPED!!
GO FISHER!!!

Oh hell yeah!!

My wife had to talk me out of driving 2 hours to watch today's inter-squad scrimmage. I'm officially ready to go. I am going to try and make it to next weekends scrimmage against U of R, but I will definitely make it to the opener on the 6th!

Can not wait for the next two weeks to go by...

What time is the UR scrimmage?

AUPepBand

Pep has it from a good source that the Saxons will scrimmage a fledgling Misericordia football team at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 30 at Yunevich Stadium. That gives the pep band a few hours of working on new tunes before descending the Green Monster for some game-situation play.

Pep has a solid corps of sophomores who today taught the fight song to new students at Yunevich Stadium who were participating in the New Student Olympics. Add a few new recruits and we just might have ourselves a merry little band!

On Saxon Warriors!

I am interested on how fans from each team feel about this years squads. Is your favorite team better or worse than last years team?

I have been going back and forth with this Fisher team. Losses of Cody Miller and others makes me nervous, but some added talent also has me thinking they may be able to do even more than last year.

I think Ithaca over achieved last year, and will come back to the pack a bit. Still a good team, but I think they lose a few games.

How about Salisbury or AU? Hartwick?
GO FISHER!!!

Kickoff comes out today---Time to get ready for College Football and especially Fisher Football!!!!

Cards-this a a total homer call here- but I see a STRONG season in front of us this year.
Yes the loss of Cody and others hurt but the incoming class and transfers have me as excited as i have been at the start of the season- and that is saying a bit!

Ithaca's probably a 6/7-win team talent-wise, and, as cliche as it is, the difference is in the margins. IC won a lot of close games in 2013, but that's not really a bankable skill. Almost the entire defense graduated, but almost all the offense returns. If those players show improvement over last year, particularly an offensive line that returns four starters, it could be an improvement. I really think Joel Lynch is going to have a great year. Ithaca returns both their return guys and kickers, so I expect at least one game will be won solely because the Bombers' special teams units are always insanely good.

I tend to put little stock into Freshman/Transfers, only because I'm not sure what is really significant. Jason Hendel was an all-conference team captain in high school. I will report the following, posted with little to no analysis:

1. Ithaca's got 40 newcomers listed.

2. There are no defensive lineman listed, and only one quarterback, however they have one transfer, Sean Crandall from Akron whose two brothers were IC players. He was a walk-on at Akron, an all-state quarterback at Herkimer, and was considering Fisher and St. Lawrence before being told he was too short to be a QB at Akron. He's listed at 242 pounds, so your guess as to where he plays.

3. They have a linebacker listed at 5-4, 225. I assume he will take Will Carter's designated "really short linebacker" spot in the lineup.

Hope that's a typo (i.e., should be 6'4")!

Curious to see how IC matches up vs. Union. LL coaches seem to think the Dutchmen are due to rebound, and they bring back pretty much their entire O, including their best WR who was out w/ an injury in 2013.

Dlip thinks we'll know some more about the Dutchmen after this weekend's scrimmage. Looking back with more objective eyes, last year's scrimmage was quite a mess for the U. From injuries to some poor play (U started camp a week late last year as a result of the first week bye) Union just didn't have it, and that clearly carried over into the opener out in Utica. Union has a lot of skill on O at all the skill positions but dlip really feels that so much of the season will depend on the play of the still young offensive line. dlip will also agree that having WR Kyle Reynolds back will be HUGE for Connor Eck and the Dutchmen. We shall see can't wait!

Fisher guys,

I may be in your neck of the woods on 9/6...thinking of going to a concert in Rochester that night. Where do you guys recommend eating? Looking for either a good burger/wing place or casual italian.

Union's so hard to get a read on. But at least they're playing a decent OOC schedule, which is more than you can say for most of the LL. That alone should give them the #2 spot
