In an odd twist of fate, I will have to miss the Rowan-Widener  MAC/NJAC battle this weekend.  It kills me, as there is no love lost between the teams/fans (think a very mini Cortaca).
The only bright side to this, is that I will be in the general Cortland area, and the wife and I have decided to go to the Cortland/Heidleberg game.
Can anyone either post or PM me any tips for visiting the Cortland game (Parking, must see on campus etc...) this is my first visit to the area, and any help will be appreciated...

Pep is actually thinking about taking in that game. Don't worry about finding a seat! While the stadium is top notch, attendance not so much. Aside from Cortaca, the Red Dragons, much like the Engineers at Rensselaer, draw on average 1500 fans in a beautiful 6,500 seat stadium.

While it's early in the week, Pep has a free weekend (AU is playing 10 hours away in Bangor, ME) and may take in the SLU at Morrisville State game Friday night, the Cortland State-Heidelberg clash at noon Saturday (while maintaining updates on the Saxons), and then finishing off with a trip over to Oneonta to see Western Connecticut and Hartwick at 5 p.m.

But as Pep said, it's early in the week and Pep may look at that schedule differently come Friday.

Stay tuned!

So, Ithaca's hosting Fisher on Halloween, and there's a costume contest and free candy for anyone who dresses up. I texted a buddy of mine about joke costume ideas, and after some back and forth, we came up with a winner. (Preface for those of you who don't know—I'm in a wheelchair):

I dress up like an Ithaca cornerback, he goes as John Babin. He then spends the whole game just holding a football over my head while I try to reach up and grab it.

Personally, I think this works on several levels, and would be a shoo-in to win. Naturally, though, this got me thinking about what you'd dress up as in a costume to "scare" other fanbases. Here's what I've got so far. I welcome additions to the others that are missing:

Fisher: Either Bill Struzzi or, if you're going in a group, the triple option
Alfred: Grass
Hartwick: Boltus' diploma
Cortland: The Buffalo State scoreboard, with a reading of 00:01. (I really wanted to say a scoreboard counting down the final 10 seconds, and that would have been the best one ever, except for that whole Cortaca ending)

Good one....provided the person wearing the grass costume is very tall!

Pep just last night learned the details of a wedding on Saturday afternoon in Erie, PA to which he was not invited. As silly as this sounds, that means that Pep is expected to be there. Seems Pep two years ago crashed the wedding of one of the six Alfred University apartment mates, all of whom Pep befriended during their days on campus. At that wedding, it was agreed that one of the six will serve as informant of all future weddings and that Pep was informally invited to crash each of them. Missed one wedding back in May but the couple will likely be present so Pep can celebrate two weddings on Saterday.

Get the fight song ready!

Good news re the Jackets.

Hobart supposedly came out flat and lost 7-0 to Buff State on Thursday, 7-0. Players took it in stride and I think the Statesmen have "lost" in prior years and have had undefeated seasons so no need for any concern in Geneva.

IC and SLU scrimmage today in Camden, NY. Would love to see that one. 1 more week!

I was at that scrimmage. The scrimmage wasn't as close as the score indicates. Yes I am a BENGALS fan, however I too was surprised by how Buff State dominated a quarter finalist from last years D3 playoffs. Defense was outstanding!!! Coach Boyes has something special going on, however I'm not gonna get excited (too much) about a scrimmage. Saturday at Otterbein is season opener! That's the time to get excited.

Go BENGALS!!!!!

Any thoughts on Hobarts new QB? Allegedly a great player who transferred from UAlabany.

To be honest there wasn't too much on either side of the ball to be really impressed with offensively. Can't say that Hobarts QB was anything special (definitly nothing that would justify a "great" label), but neither were the BENGALS qb's.

Nice write-up, Dlip. Couple things, some of which I very recently learned, so don't take this as a criticism:

1. Wolfgang Shafer has been named the starting quarterback.

2. Unless Evan Skea's improved a ton and/or Tristan Brown is not 100%, I doubt Welch will go running back by committee. Once he got established, Brown was the clear every-down back in 2014 until his injury,

3. I think Ryan Michaels might be the other starting CB. Schemm might step in at safety.

4. Rob Barbieri's brother is a freshman listed on the varsity roster.

5. I've heard good things about freshman LB Ryan Bronson, who was a RB/LB on Chenango Forks' state title winning team

Thanks Bombers +k, dlip made a couple quick adjustments based upon the RB and QB info. dlip so appreciates your information. dlip always struggles to cross all his "t's" when writing about opposing teams before the season starts. There is just so much he doesn't know about teams he is not close to. Much thanks and best of luck on Saturday! Let's hope for a great game with no injuries.

Does anyone know if Thomas More will have video of the game ever this SatERday?

Also curious if the game will be streamed.  We're in the year of Back to the Future II people.  Flying cars, hover boards, etc.  Thomas More should be able to stream a game on the Internet.

I agree, but it doesn't look good. I guess we have to go with Gene and Pete on the radio. Not that that is a bad thing, I just don't think radio can beat moving pictures.
