How many pieces of flair does Fisher have now ?

Some folks choose to do more, and we encourage that...

Yes, it is in the same spot. It is more like a video board than a scoreboard, so the sun should not be as big an issue.

Are they making any other improvements? Restrooms? Bleachers for visitors from the 21st century?

One issue at a time PEP...

There is a bathroom on the visitors side now, attached to the track and field complex. I thought it was in the original plans to build a set of stands on the visitors side, but I am not sure if that is still happening or not.

Let the Demolition Derby begin!
Buffalo State (1-0) at Alfred (2-0)
The Bengals shut out Otterbein 29-0. Saxons have 39-25 and 32-20 wins over Husson and RPI, respectively. These two have had some bizarre games the last three seasons, with AU winning 40-17 at Coyer a week after the Bengals had defeated three-time defending national champ UW-Whitewater, edging the Bengals 39-33 in a crazy 2OT game at Yunevich in 2013, and holding off a Bengal rally for a 29-21 win at Coyer last year. While this is a toss-up, Pep's going to say the band gives AU the edge, 31-28.

A "homer" prediction if ever I saw 1  :D.  E8 is getting off to a good start. #4 ranked conference  in Massey with the "demolition derby" ( I like that Pep) going full blast this weekend! Here's top hoping that my BENGALS can turn the tables on the "pesky" Saxons. No prediction. Just PAIN!!!!! ( I love the old Rocky movies) ;)

Sure hope you're making the short trip down to Mayberry, Bengals.....from what I hear, the webcast is lifeless. Heck, if Pep could rig it up, he'd invite you to join him in the press box and add some commentary to the 'cast and perhaps the handful watching the web could hear the (vastly improved) band in the background!

As for the "demolition derby," Pep can't take the credit, it was from the makers of Kickoff...and in the publishing world, plagiarism is the best compliment.  ;)

Pep is thinking it might be another thriller today.

Nice games in the E8 today.  Can Fisher right the ship?  Who steps up in the Buff St/Alfred game?  Ithaca gets a chance to prove the ranking is warranted.  Plenty of games to make more of a mess out of the east region rankings.

ESPN Rochester has added former player Sammy Hassan to the broadcast and he poses an interesting thought right off the top...could the horrible showing for Fisher in week 1 turn out to be a good thing? I suppose it is possible it may put them back into that underdog role that they performed so well in years back. Not sure I buy it, but it made me feel a little better for a few minutes before kickoff.
GO FISHER!!!

Time for SJF's coaching staff to go -- all of them.

Honestly they should have been held accountable following their failure last year at Salisbur and Ithaca.

I'm stunned at how unmotivated Fisher appears to be on the field.  They are standing around and slow. This is so bad.

So Ithaca/Hobart:

Neither offense looked good at all, but that's in part because both defenses are really good. There's was one scoring drive in the whole game. The rest were either defensive scores or set up directly by defense or special teams plays. Both defenses were physical, and there was really only one big offensive play, a 50+ yard pass by Ithaca that really killed Hobart by flipping the field. Overall, I think this says a lot about the ceiling of both teams, given how they looked against great defenses.

Still, Ithaca's defense is absolutely insane. They are always around the ball, and there were no easy completions for Hobart. Great win for the Bombers and the Empire 8.

agree totally on that - they are very fast and aggressive (what that's Upstate's word)

SJF is just terrible -- it is a shame that they have such a talented group of WRs - and they have such an awful QB, bad O-Line, Defense with No Heart, and no professional coaches

still alive for ECACs I guess.

SJF D-Coordinator should resign

A case could be made that not since Faggiano (now HC of Utica) have they had a true pro on the staff

Brockport Hartwick game not really close.. Garcia bros had good yardage numbers but QB Garcia threw 3 picks and was sacked 6 times (ooof). Tarik Bennett , returning 1st team DL E8 last season, had 3 sacks and 3 TFLs..gotta be up for E8 def Player of the Week. Brockport ran all over them just like in their ECAC game in 08. 322 yards rushing (6.9 per carry and 1st team E8er Dan Andrews had over 200 yards rushing. 6-3 QB Wayne Bonsell is now 11-1 as a starter. He supposedly has the strongest arm HC Mangone has ever seen, but the problem is they have no proven deep threats with the graduation of WR Mrozek.
Hartwick had over 400 plus yards of offense but was never in the game. Brockport just looked deeper and more athletic..and bigger and better up front on both sides of the ball. Hartwick has a few good players, but are not very deep overall with talent.
Brockport is off to a good start but against questionable opponents. They need to beat a better team or a more quality team. Despite SJFs slow start, beating them on the road in the Courage Bowl would be a good place to start. But they got clobbered last year, and they might again this year who knows ? But they need to if they want to consider themselves a top tier E8 team.

Just curious about the theme about SJF not "having professional coaches".  Can someone elaborate for me?

Just curious.
