Ugh, what a mess the E8 is this year. I think all the teams are flawed, and none of them are going to do a thing in the playoffs. All I know is that Cortland can run the table and get in, and Ithaca can get in if they run the table and Cortland beats Brockport.

Predictions are futile. The Empire 8 is where logic and reason go to die

The prediction of a classic demolition derby was the best analogy ever.

Have not been able to post recently but honestly that is as good of a description as possible. Honestly there is no way of knowing which teams will win. Cortland has the tenuous advantage but one loss and the chaos will ensue. Exciting but maddening to follow any of these teams

I was talking to someone involved with Cortland athletics yesterday, and they commented on how much better the E8 is top to bottom than the NJAC. They couldn't believe how tough it is every week. Makes for a fun season, but I am not sure coaches love it.
GO FISHER!!!

Clearly, as a conference, we have been upstaged in the crazy ending department by Michigan State and Michigan. Can Cortland and IC get on this?

I doubt an NJAC insider would have the same view.   Personally, I don't view the E8 as that strong at all...just balanced.

When people talk about a "strong" conference they are usually referring to parity -- which the E8 undoubtedly has. But, then others refer to strength of a conference as it's ability to beat non-conference teams.

It's often times confusing.

that was also before Wesley, Salisbury, CNU, and Frostburg were added.  Not sure the same thought would pertain had Cortland had to play those teams each year.

Well, but there are no breathers like TCNJ and Southern Virginia in the E8 right now.

Fair point Pat, but I was really talking about the upper bar of the conference, not necessarily the depth.  I definitely agree the parity in the E8 this year may be unprecedented...

Pat Coleman

Gotcha. The comment you were responding to was specifically about the depth.

Speaking of no breathers.... Off to Utica for my Bengals this weekend. Lost at home 2012 to Utica, won at Utica in 2013, lost last year 2014 in Buffalo and in 2015....? Here's to hoping that the trend continues!

Go BENGALS!!!!!
