Yes had a rough year last year But hopefully this year turns out better!

Naton threw 16 tds against 6 picks, while completing 57% of his passes, playing most of the season without Collichio. Not a great year and certainly there's room for improvement, but man, if you guys consider that a "rough" season, your expectations are way too high.

I think that Upstate is being reasonable  ;) ;D

In all seriousness- its good to have Naton back!

Minor old-man rant:

I miss how fun Ithaca games used to be.

No, I'm not just talking about how much better Ithaca was back in the day. I mean, there was an actual atmosphere at the games. They had a pep band that played songs like "Proud Mary" during the game and the alma mater after the game, they had the Ooga-Booga guy (YMMV on that one). They were just fun to go to. Now, they're just generic events attended, it seems, mostly by people who don't really care one way or the other, and even exciting games don't feel exciting.

Man, I am so old.

12 of those 16 TDs and 1,132 of his 1,842 yards came in 4 games vs Mo'ville, Utica, Ithaca and Hartwick. Ithaca had the 2nd ranked pass D in the E8, the other 3 were 5th or lower.

He had some really rough games, especially early on. He was trying to rifle passes all over the field and really didn't show any anticipation or touch on the ball.

The offense was really out of sorts to start the year. They had trouble on the interior of the O-line which caused a lot of problems in the run game, they made a switch and they started to play better as they went into the easier part of their schedule.

He struggled in the pass game when the run game wasn't working. If teams were stopping the run with only their front 6, which happened a lot early on and in their ECAC game, they couldn't really move the ball well throwing it either.

How much of the problem can be traced to the fact that Fisher didn't make this move in 2013?

Should Fisher just start Matt Naton from here on out? I am not arguing that one good game should get him to start, but if the goal was to get into the NCAA this year, and it isn't going to happen, why not get a jump on next year?

(Guys, I don't care how old it is, or how many times I mention it. That is never not going to be the best post in the history of this board. Not only did Fisher win the Alfred game by 35 points and make the NCAAs, Fenti then guided them to wins in two road playoff games—3 TDs/0 INT plus a running threat— then threw for 400 yards in a really gutsy effort at UMHB, then came back and won E8 Offensive Player of the Year in 2014. I get as doom and gloom as the next guy, but that's never going to be matched)

Kidding aside, you have some points, Upstate, but, I guess I equate "Rough" with "Poor." Like, for example, what Shafer had for IC last year. More picks than TDs, lost the starting job at one point to a senior who had never played before. But maybe you consider rough as something else.

Well done!

Look- I hate to wish a summer away - especially the one we are having, but with FA91's kid lacing em up already - i have a fever....

Has camp officially started for teams? I have a trip up to the Rochester area planned for later this week and have some time between meetings that could be used with a trip to Fisher for a quick peak at the team.

This is the time of year where I get so desperate for information about what Fisher has that I always end up finding one practice to drop in on.
GO FISHER!!!

Not quite yet -- depending on schools' Week 1 schedule and their academic calendar, I've seen camps opening anywhere from Aug. 10-16.

Fisher has put an updated roster on the webpage for this year. Just figured out what I am going to do with my day.
GO FISHER!!!

Just checked out their roster and a couple of things stand out.

As I thought Naton is back but wearing #12.

Mark Guarino-Hyde is back as a Grad Student as well, hopefully he can live up to his strong seasons at Hobart before transferring to Fisher and getting bit by the injury bug.

Also back as a Grad Students are Zach Forbes and Jake Kulig who saw starting time on the defensive line.

A notable transfer is a big LBer from Nassau Community College at 6'1", 235 in Marc Coles.

Someone Freshman to keep an eye on are:

Chris Sodoma-OT-6'6" 285

Will Blake-WR-6'1", 195

WOW, this might be a hell of a find for Fisher!

Him and Collichio could do some damage if Naton and the O-line progress from last year.

Not nearly so old as Pep! Pep knows precisely what you're talking about. IC football games WERE a ton of fun. First Down Club was a good bunch of fans, many of which were on these boards....i.e. MIYH. Pep recalls meeting up with the tailgating FDC in one of the nearby parking lots before an AU game.

Pep remembers that same "this is boring" feeling at Merrill Field in the '90s and asked the AU band director more than once to get a pep band together for the football games. Fell on deaf ears. Finally, in 1999, Pep got KaZ00, his roommate and a few others together and formed a kazoo band and WE had a ton of fun but only those seated around us could hear us. When Pep was hired at AU in summer 2000, it was time to recruit "real instruments." The band has had the fight song ready ever since. Pep could write a book about all the fun we've had to date, but just got back from a coast-to-coast excursion and has a newspaper to get out.....stay tuned!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

PBR...

Good news on the Fisher front.
Nice to see some old and some new!!

I do have one question tho
Where was Will Blake last year?
Looks like he was class of 15?
