P.S. Does anyone have information on a Fisher scrimmage for this pre-season?

Saw something on the OAC board: Make your team's Mount Rushmore of players.

But, to make it a challenge and less obvious, I'll include two twists:

1. No All-Americans* allowed. Pick the guys who were great, but perhaps under-appreciated.
2. One player per position

*Not limited to just this site, obviously.

For Fisher I would have:

Greg Roland, (1st in pass attempts, 2nd in completions, 2nd in passing yards, and tied for 2nd in passing tds)
James Reile, (4th in total yards, 2nd in rushing tds, and tied for 2nd in yrds/rush and played behind Mark Robinson all but 1 year of his career)
Mike Fox, (1st in tackles, tied for 4th in interceptions)
Nathan Nigolian, (4th in receptions, 2nd in yards, 2nd in touchdowns)

It is hard to do without selecting all americans. Keeping players like Stepnick, Bailey, and Mark Robinson off any Fisher all time list is difficult.

That's a good list.

Yeah, I wanted it to be a little difficult, just to see who people come up with beyond the obvious.

James Reile was the one that I sort of went back and forth on. Honestly, I wonder what he could have done if Mark Robinson wasn't on those teams. Robinson was a beast and chewed up (rightfully) a lot of potential carries for Reile.
I considered Rob Kramer just based on how much winning he did, but Roland was better in almost every statistical category, and did it with less talent at receiver, running back, etc.

Without the criteria you set out, I would have gone with something like this:

Mark Robinson
Tim Bailey
Steve Stepnick
Gene Lang

I like the list.

I've got a preliminary list, but need to check my media guides to be sure on some of the old guys

Making this list is probably a lot tougher with a program with history beyond 2004...

Here's a quick story on new DC Mike Fox at Brockport

http://www.gobrockport.com/news/2016/8/15/brockport-football-camp-file-day-two.aspx?path=football

I am interested to see what this Fisher defense looks like without Fox. From what I have read and heard the new DC at Fisher is a good coach, but Fox had some really good units that carried some of those Fisher teams. He is going to be tough to replace for sure. I still can't believe he moved to take the same position at Brockport that he had at his alma matter, but who knows what the reasons behind that are. Can't fault a guy for making a decision that works for him. I always sort of figured he would be the next Fisher coach if Vos retires, and maybe he still will be, but I feel like that is going to be a big loss for the Cardinals.
GO FISHER!!!

I guess Chris Sharpe is up for some online award/nomination for best running QB in college football history, and this video was attached to a link from one of the Springfield Facebook posts.

Anyway, he had some big runs against Fisher it appears.

Those were my exact thoughts.
Why leave a program that "seemed" to be a perfect fit and possible grooming for HC when the time came.
There is always more to the story and Im sure he has his reasons.
We will miss him

Hoping his replacement hits the ground running!

Pep feels like he's taking an exam...and will fail miserably trying to pick four worthy players from the plethora of players from nearly 120 seasons of AU football. Coach Alex Yunevich refused to make such a list. He said making such a list would be singling a few out and be a disservice to all of his players who all had their merits. Nearly impossible to pick out four. But will throw these out there for the fun of it:

Walter 'Bo' Johnson (AU '40)...not sure whether All-American honors were dished out during his era, and if there were, he was probably listed. Prolific passer, runner, kicker. He did it all. Was the Jesse Raynor of the late 30s.
Tom Vredenburgh (AU '74)...followed in the footsteps of Jim Moretti. Outstanding running and passing QB. A team general. Not highly decorated from what I remember. But highly effective.
Eric Rockwood (AU '12)...probably the most consistent placekicker in AU history. As Pep remembers it, he was overlooked for All-American honors.
Lambros Touris (AU '67)...a huge defensive lineman who dominated line play in the mid-60s for AU.

Ha! So many more but the sans All-American status makes it a tough call.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

*On turf

Had to do it.

Seriously, Sharpe was great. But when he ran for 74 yards against IC the week after torching Fisher for 280, listening to their fans whine and complain about the wet grass, it was priceless. If Ithaca ever goes to turf, I'll be so sad

Funny I didn't see any of his last 24 carries that resulted in 41 yards vs Fisher in the playoffs that year in that video...

Watching all of his long TD runs vs Fisher in the regular season and I still have nightmares. He's nearly stopped in the backfield for a loss by a defender but breaks the tackle and takes it in for 6...
