I'm interested in how Cortland plays Heidelberg. Any predictions?

I'm not sure who will win the Heidelberg game (I'll say Cortland 27-18), but it is interesting that H berg's new Head Coach is 2004 SUNY Brockport grad. Kinda cool.

Cortland  expands 17-7  halftime edge to 30-14 with 6' left in the thrd quarter. S. Ferreira with TD pass in the opening half along with two yard TD run. Finsh the half with 16 play march and short S. Cronin FG after 1st and goal from the two at 0:13. Heidelberg miscues hurting. RDragons pretty clean first 30 minutes without much of a ground game. Ferreira 12x21, 144 yds. J. Mannix 4 catches, 1 score and over 100 yards in receptions at the half. Corts picking up ground attack. Ferreira sharp. Cashing in on third downs by the bundle.

Buffalo St. trails Otterbein 12-7 at intermission

Brockport Hobart 0-0 after 1. Penalties have hurt both offenses.

Cortland survives 30-28 at Heidelberg whose Student Princes twice come from 16 points back to make a game of it. Late Heidelberg score comes after picking off S. Ferreira pass near Berg goal line. Princes drive for TD covering 97 yards in eight plays

Berg ball with 3:34 left at its own one yard line. Now at 0:53  and hosts have fourth  down at their 32. Pick up first down on scrambling pass completion at midfield. Seventeen seconds left. Passes misfired and clock expires. Don't believe video announcers had Cortland roster

Corts never trail. Amass 531 yards, 292 on S. Ferreria 21x35, 2 TD, 2 int arm and 239 rushing on Z. Tripodi 6/93 and TD, A. Wasserman 17x57, Ferreira 18/47 and TD. J. Mannix with five catches/132 yards, TD. Nine catch passes. J. Riley TD.  Heidelberg runs for 150 yards, 315 through the air

Congratulations to the Bombers on a hard fought victory. I thought it would be a close game and I was 1/2 right on my predicted score. I said 28-17 and it was 14-9! Union had great field position all day and had numerous opportunities. BUT found another way to lose a game they probably should have won. IMO Ithaca has a LONG way to go to be an E8 contender.

Fisher was pretty dominant today in a 52-10 win over Oliver. Defense gave up yards but held the Comets off the scoreboard most of the day. Offense looked great in the win.
GO FISHER!!!

Agreed.  Naton played a hell of a game.  Much improved from last year as I never saw him have a performance like that.  He only had two throws the entire game that noticeably missed the target.  One of which was particularly bad and should have been intercepted but the safety just dropped it.

Wide receiver core looks very good.  Running game was also effective.  Looks to be a potent offense.  The defense was solid all game long.  They created a couple of turnovers and really only broke down on one Olivet drive which resulted in their lone touchdown.

Missed 4 out of 8 extra points.  Somebody might look at that box score and think Fisher had 7 touchdowns and a field goal.  Nope.  Eight touchdowns but 4 botched XP's.  That was the only real blemish on the day.

Solid win by Fisher, although I don't know how good Olivet will be.  Nice showing by the E8 in general...which is typically the case during OOC games before we start tearing each other apart.

Just watched parts of Hobart win over Brockport and Ithaca win over Union and Bartman was totally impressed with Brockport offense and run defense. I can't really comment on pass defense since I think Hobart passing with Sweeney(419 yards) could be the best in many years. Andrews is very scary and can bounce for a big gain at any time. Good luck to Brockport and impressed they got 5K plus for attendance.....looks like Ithaca still has some work or Union's new coach has made a difference...can't wait for Hobart -Ithaca at the Boz under the lights on 9-17

I think it was a great showing for Fisher today, defensively they were great. Really shut down the run today. Offensively if they have a tremendous group of WRs now. Harrington's leaping catch at the one was a thing of beauty. He's just a freshman too!

That's the average yards fisher's punts traveled....

Kicking game is going to be an issue again....

The views expressed in the above post do not represent the views of St. John Fisher College, their athletic department, their coaching staff or their players. I am an over zealous antagonist that does not have any current connection to the institution I attended.

Same Ithaca team we've seen for at least 6 years. No offense, great defense, good return game. 14-9 win with a defensive TD, so nothing really to report. They've got to make major changes to get something out of their offense.

But, 1-0 is 1-0

Shouldn't bother. No idea why teams kick when you can move the ball at will

FWIW, Ithaca's got a linebacker punting. Averaged 33 yards a punt. Also had 9 tackles, 3 TFL, a sack, a FF, and an INT. Does that all count as special teams production?

Tomorrow will be special at Yunevich Stadium. Julio Fuentes will serve as honorary captain. Here's a story on his progress since that fateful day, Sept. 9, 2006, when he suffered a spinal injury while blocking on a kickoff return.

Pep has long been a fan of Julio Fuentes for his courage and work ethic in overcoming adversity. He's a true Saxon Warrior!

Much love to Julio, his girlfriend, his family. We wish you continued progress and much happiness as you seek to help others become overcomers as well.
Pep,
Glad you guys won for Fuentes  today

Bombers, this is the really the third year of this anemic offense and I'm not sure who to blame, the OC or the lack of talent/recruiting.  It is clear (as you point out), that IC is going to have a long year with more of the same of what they had last year.  Although the Wolfman doesn't always make the right throws, he doesn't have the playmakers that IC quarterbacks of the past have had either, so I'm not sure I can blame him 100%.

I wonder what will happen next year, especially if they hire Mark McDonough, whether or not he keeps the OC.  But again, I'm not sure if the OC and the other coaches on the staff agree that they need to run this vanilla offense for the simple reason that they don't have the talent to run anything else. If that's the case, I can't really blame the OC, and I'm getting that feeling more and more now. That being said, IC could have run a screen, draw, bubble screen, or something to show they have some life in today's win against Union.

Also, who knows, maybe Union isn't that bad?  Their oline looked big from the crappy IC feed I watched today, and their defense seemed to hold their own (against a simple offense).

I don't know.  I watched some of that Hobart/Brockport game and those teams seemed like they were on another level.
