So Pep is at a loss. What does Pep do when the Saxons aren't playing? While Pep's daughter is away for the weekend, Pep gets to chill with his 7-year-old grandson and is looking to make it a weekend of football fun!

Tonight, the Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines (4-1) host their rival Cuba-Rushford Rebels (4-1) in a 7:30 p.m. Livingston County Division II clash.

Tomorrow, Pep is thinking of following up Friday Night Lights with an E8 D3 road trip doubleheader. Perhaps taking in the Hartaca (easier said than Ithwick) at ButterField at 1 p.m., then driving northwest to Pittsford to take in the Morrisville State-St. John Fisher clash at 6 p.m.

But then, will a 7-year-old with his grand-pops be able to consume that much football in one weekend?

Pep, I have taken my youngest nephew who is of similar age to one DIII game and all he wanted to do was run around the stadium and eat popcorn and cotton candy. You would have thought we were at a state/county fair.

Well hey, the way Pep figures, a day outside enjoying the autumn splendor is far better than a day spent in the house playing video games.

Pep will attempt to instruct his grandson on sharpening his senses in taking in the sights and sounds of the wonderful world around him rather than staring at a screen filled with man-made virtual characters attempting meaningless feats.

And if a hotdog, popcorn and cotton candy become part of that wonderful world, so be it!

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

I heard they were trying to be really aggressive with it, maybe put the pins in. Give him a week of rest and let him play with the pins in?

If that's the case I don't think we will see him under center that much because he will probably have a padding/cast on that thumb that may effect the exchange.

We will see tomorrow under the lights I guess.

I can't believe that Naton plays this weekend. I know you can't take any game for granted, but if you can get through an 0-4 Mo'ville team with your backup...

That would be my gut as well. Especially considering this game is largely meaningless. Fisher could lose it and still win the Pool A bid by winning out.

I'm in the same boat. Keep Naton on the bench and only use him if needed. This isn't the Morrisville of last year, yes they played some really good teams but they lost a TON from last year's matchup with Fisher. The QB has been replaced because of ineffectiveness, the RB that ran and threw for a 66 yard TD is gone, the WR that tore them up for close to 200 yards receiving and 2 TDs is gone. They return one offensive lineman and doing a quick check of their two deep I think they returned one LBer.

I'm not trying to overlook them but this is a game that Fiutko can win if he plays like he did last week. Buffalo St's defense is better than this Morrisville defense, they aren't as bad as Hartwick's defense (which is historically bad) but it's not as good as Buffalo St's. Morrisville is allowing 36 points and 465 yards of offense a game. They allow 211 yards on the ground, this is a perfect week to pound the rock with Smith and run play action off of it.

Utica / Brockport game of the week, as these 2 play for second place. Brockport travels to Utica for another oddball 4 PM start. Utica's strength is their D, Brockport's is obviously their O. So that'll be a good matchup. I say Utica holds court on it's home field, but this is a team Brockport needs to beat if they wish to be a real player in the E8. They should have more depth and athleticism than Utica year to year, and so far with Utica winning the last 2, this hasn't materialized. (Pick me up a tomato pie)

Ithaca also looks to keep pace in the 1 loss column. They "might" have their hands full, H's offense vs IC's D should be a real good matchup, we'll see who is for real. I'd love to pick Lord Boltus, but conventional wisdom says Ithaca wins this game. (What a fence sitter.)

Undefeated vs Winless.  Coach Fitz returns to his alma mater with his tail between his legs. I can't see anyway, even without Naton Fisher doesn't win this nightcap.

Battle of 2 SUNY's to stay above water. Cortland and Buff St are both 1-2 in the conf. The winner stays in the E8 fight, the loser sinks into E8 obscurity. These 2 seem extremely evenly matched, I'll pick Cortland just because they are at home.

Alfred. Best team in the conf IMO. Veteran athletic QB and their defense may be the best overall unit in the E8. (offense and defense). I'll pick them until someone proves otherwise.

UC - Brockport:  loser hopes for ECAC winner still has a tie chance for AQ.
IC is still alive
regarding Fisher v M'ville - may not be as lopsided of a game as we think on paper. Fisher's O is banged up, not just without Naton, but without their #1 and 2 RB, and one of the key WRs is banged up too.... Plus, SJF's defense is the worst the program has had easily in over the decade.

Fisher's Defense: Their D-Line gets blown off the ball so far that they could be mistaken for pass blocking instead attacking a run, their LBs play like they're wearing pillows instead of shoulder pads and can't tackle -- putting way too much pressure on secondary.  It is impossible to overstate how the defensive unit has gone from average to the absolute worst in the E8.  really really really bad Defense, What is going on from a coaching standpoint.

Anyway -- ultimately yes -- as of now, Alfred is the most impressive team in the E8 and should be ranked higher than Fisher.  Higher quality of wins, and in a more dominant fashion.

The conference is Alfred's to lose.

So Middlerelief you're saying Fishers defense is worse than Hartwick's?

Hartwick allows 500+ yards of offense, Morrisville allows 460 yards.

That's just pure hyperbolic bull****.

Take your agenda elsewhere.

It's funny, the defenses he played on were hot garbage but he calls out this defense for being the worst since 1991...

I think it may be time to do some detective work on Middlerelief.

Is he a disgruntled player?  Fired coach?  parent of a player who was benched? Former coach with an agenda?  Ex girlfriend of the DC?

I'm pretty sure I know who it is...

Ex player (before they were good) and recently a former coach...

I went through some old posts, here is my unofficial profile on Middlerelief:

-Started posting in 2011.
-Has an early history of posting on some national d3 issues, focusing on the OAC and MIAC more than other conferences.
-Is an SJF fan.
-Does like the E8 and is fairly knowledgeable on d3 football in general.
-Has an extreme dislike for this years SJF defense, specifically the dline.
-Gets a kick out of trolling SJF posters, especially Boobyhasgameyo.

Well aware of that last point.  +k for the investigative nature though...it reminds me of the good old days when you guys would out current players posting on the board.  Shout out to the Jose Q era.

Middlerelief is what he is.  Has his agenda and will not be persuaded by something as stupid as facts.  Only two things from him will actually annoy me at this point.

1.  I already loathe how annoying he will be whenever Fisher actually loses.  It will be almost unbearable.  As if the Fisher defenses of the past never got lit up in games they lost.  See Springfield, Salisbury, Hobart, Thomas More, St. Thomas, Mount Union, etc.

2.  When he goes on the top 25 page and spews the same exact crap there too.  The east posters are starting to become well aware of how annoyingly repetitive he is.  But then he has to take it there as well so that posters from every region can see.

middlerelief

So - are you unhappy that the criticisms have merit or that they are being stated at all?

It's football - spectators can opine, cheer, jeer etc.   losen up - you all are acting like it is a hot mic or something

In College Football: A) Love the Cards want them to win and be the best.  I do at times feel as though complacency has crept in.  B) want to see an East Team in the Stagg Bowl.  C) respect what UWW and Mt Union have been able to build - ready for another team or two to reach the top and the knock them off the mountain.

That's it - quit being babies
