Looks like the boys from Quick Hits arent too keen on AU or Fisher this week.
Ya know what- thats ok.
I think if I were a betting man (which im not) - given the history of the E8- i would also predict a loss for one of the two if not both of the leaders of the conference.

That said- I wold LOVE to see Fisher and AU go into the last game of the regular season 9-0 and battle it out for the crown!

The E8 hasn't had a team run the table since it's inception.

They've had a few teams run the conference table (3 times I think) since the AQ.

This is just not a conference that produces undefeated teams because of it's strength.

Picking against the undefeated teams in this conference is a pretty good bet to take with it's history.

That said.

Fisher 34
Utica 21

Game of the week..Ithaca at Brockport. Battle of 1 loss conf teams for sole control of second place. I'll pick Brockport at home, but won't be surprised if Ithaca wins. Can they return the favor when Brockport beat them last year at Ithaca. which team can keep the momentum going ? Brockport beating Utica last week and Ithaca winning a few in a row ? Can Ithaca's stout defense stand up to the Dan Andrews show ? Ithaca's offense is still averaging under 100 yards rushing per game and under 200 yards passing per game. Not great.

SJF vs SJF wannabees.  I think SJF has the most balanced offense in the league (165 rush/game 270 pass per game). I realize there's injury issues but I will give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt. But SJF defense may still prove to be a liability. That's why I don't think they are as good as Alfred. Put up or shut up time for Utica. A win may save their season, and I think they are close enough to keep this game close. SJF for the win, but Utica is right there.

Alfred/ C Staters.  If Alfred is as good as advertised, they should drop Cortland. Cortland's wounded offense shouldn't threaten AU's D, and Johnson should move the offense vs Cortland's poor defense. AU.

Toilet Bowl. Someone will get their first conf win. Sadly I will pick Team Boltus because at least they have a "decent" offense with some weapons. Mooville looks pretty poor on both sides of the ball.

Non conf SUNY battle. Buffalo State is a team to be watched. With Hoppy back at QB they seem to be getting better. Alf St should prove no match. Have they even won a game? They are the Washington Generals for E8 non conf matchups.

Actually the Saxons show a Rush/Pass balance of 231/200 yds per game.  The 200 yds /game passing is 8th of nine in the conference but is 3rd in yds/attempt at 8.7

Kinda suprising similarities:

Offensive yards per play:

AU: 6.3
SJF: 6.8

Defensive yards per play:

AU: 4.7
SJF: 4.8

Despite those similarities AU leads the E8 in TOP with 34:39 per game while SJF is dead last with 24:21 a game.

It's insane that AU has only allowed 18 3rd down conversions all season, while SJF just allowed 15 in one game!

AU leads the E8 in points allowed but still has to face the top 3 scoring offenses in the conference. Those teams are averaging 39, 39 and 37 points a game.

SJF on the other hand leads the E8 in scoring and still has to face the top 3 defenses in points allowed. Those teams are allowing 17, 18 and 21 points a game.

I hope these two teams can keep it going through 9 games, that last game at AU just might be the game of the week!

If you like many are bored by Pep's posts, don't bother visiting the Facebook account of RoadTripSports.com that just posted a three-part video interview of Pep at Yunevich Stadium. You've probably read it all here before.  Pretty randomly at an AU jayvee football game met this guy from RoadTripSports who produces an annual yearbook about college football. He positioned Pep in front of his camera and began filming as Pep began talking....and Pep nearly talked the poor guy to death! (Will he ever stop?)

Pep,

Just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed the 3 interviews and the history lessons. I look forward to reading your book when it becomes a finished product. Instead of being bored I was hoping there was a Part IV. Good job. I knew your name from our previous conversations by the PM's we've shared but seeing your face was a first.

Yeah, history isn't kind to the E8 and unbeaten teams. That said, just in looking at the schedules/rest of the conference, I'd be stunned if one of these squads didn't run the table

Ithaca's defense has quietly taken a step back this season, struggling to force turnovers (just 9 in 6 games) and generating just 10 sacks. Unfortunately, it manifested itself today. The offense has finally shown signs of life, and the worst defensive effort of the season couldn't have come at a worse time.

But it's encouraging to see Ithaca's offense turning things around. JR Zazzara, a Division I transfer from Buffalo is turning into a weapon. Two more touchdowns today, giving him six in the last four games.

Utica stuns Fisher, because E8. The Cardinals offense no-shows, and the defense really didn't look good (Utica's red zone struggles kept this from being worse

The wheels have come off Cortland's defense. Look, Tyler Johnson is probably the E8 player of the year, but this season went south in a hurry.

Hartwick's defense tightened up, allowing just 7 points in the 2nd half, and Morrisville remains winless.

Cortland defense has been tipsy for quite some time --- over a season and a half, particularly the secondary. Anyone with an arm licks his chops. Cortland southerly path parallels qb S. Ferreira absence since the first half at Fisher. Had ability to outscore HIS defense

Upstate

It's baffling that this program once again lays a regular season egg when they are in the driver's seat. Just a crap performance by the offense and the defense couldn't stop the run at all.

Tip of the cap to Utica for completely dominating the Cardinals today.

Hopefully Fisher gets the offense in synch again with the bye week. They're 0-1 vs a top 3 E8 scoring defense, two more left on the schedule.

That fourth string QB Schneider moved the Dragons with ease. Look for him to start next week.
