ECAC North D3 all star team (essentially combines E8, Liberty, and all the New England conferences and Alfred St.)

I've watched Hobart 4 times on the computer, and Alfred 3 times.  I got a feeling this year that Alfred's Johnson was the better QB overall than Sweeney, just by seeing what I witnessed on the computer.

Also, is it too hard for the ECAC to list positions next to the players?

I thought the same thing.

Johnson's last game against UMU was very impressive ,although I think Sweeney is the better pure passer. Both of them protected the ball very well this year with low INT ratios and Johnson was a real dual threat, probably giving him the edge. Interesting to note that there were 21 LL selections and 22 for the E8...I think with OOC records of 16-8 for the LL and 16-9 for the E8 and with a 3-3 for inter-league games, I am feeling parity ,at least for this year...

Yea it could have gone either way, but the rushing yards I think put Johnson over the edge.  As for the two conferences, I don't think you can say one way or the other which one was better.

But if you had to break it down:

Hobart over Ithaca
Ithaca over Union
Alfred  over RPI
SLU     over Morrisville
Hobart over Brockport
SJF      over Springfield

I dunno, you can't get much by that either.  We will call it a tie.

Adding context here:

Hobart (6-1 LL) over Ithaca (4-4 E8)
Ithaca (4-4 E8) over Union (2-5 LL)
Alfred  over RPI (3-4 LL)
SLU (6-1 LL) over Morrisville (0-8 LL)
Hobart (6-1 LL) over Brockport (6-2 E8)
SJF  (6-2 E8) over Springfield (4-3 LL)

Hobart (6-1 LL) over Ithaca (4-4 E8)       23-3 in week 2
Ithaca (4-4 E8) over Union (2-5 LL)         14-9 in week 1
Alfred  over RPI (3-4 LL)                          33-17 in week 1
SLU (6-1 LL) over Morrisville (0-8 LL)       28-0 in week 1
Hobart (6-1 LL) over Brockport (6-2 E8)  41-35 in week 1
SJF  (6-2 E8) over Springfield (4-3 LL)     35-21 in week 2

You can add in the scores too (I did both in my head) and I still couldn't have an opinion either way which conference was better.

Looks like a draw to me.....too bad Alfred and Hobart didn't play each other in the NCAA's....it would have been interesting... assume Alfred gets the Lambert Trophy for an undefeated regular season and 2 playoff wins, although Wesley may be ranked higher in the final poll based on taking JCU to 2OT's ?

This seems like the definition of a draw. 3-3, with the better team winning each one.

Congratulations to A.J. Licata for being named an AFCA first team All-American.  Great season A.J.  And he's back next year!!!!

IC goes Ivy!

Just saw that.  I had a feeling they were going outside.  Do you know who the other 2 semifinalists were?

No, sorry

A few comments on the hire, which I have to say I'm happy about from what I'm reading anyway.

-Swanstrom is an offensive guy, and it was clear to me that IC needed to change their offensive philosophy as a whole

-Swanstrom was also the recruiting coordinator at Penn, which I assume helps somewhat in his new position.

-Does McDonough stay?  Was he one of the semi-finalists?  If not, has he simply found a home at IC (and Ithaca area) and wants to remain?

Must say that Im rather surprised.
Not that he is a bad choice mind you- good resume and all.....But he isnt IC family......
That always seemed  the way they did it on the hill....
Hey--change is good?!

Well it might seem like they did it that way, but in reality they only did it once since 1958.

And yes, I think change is good.
