BR,
Does Boyes have a succession plan?
One would think that with his knowledge and experience he would know whats best for the program.

"Pep is glad to have made the trip....spent a couple days with Pep Jr. in Falls Church, VA and Pep's 8-month-old grandson, #ATrain"

Also known as Manny, Moe and Jack ?

Congrats to Alfred. Nice to the see the top3 E8 teams win their postseason games so far. Dang it BengalsRule, Buff St F'ed it up for a perfect 4-0 record for the weekend. I saw you change your signature to "Go Brockport". Classy move. Good luck in basketball season.

Sorry we crapped the bed this weekend. I was watching results while our Mens BENGALS were getting spanked by Villa Maria in our season opener.

I and many of the BENGAL faithful, will definitely pulling for the Brockport FOOTBALL team. Thanks for well wishes for our hoops team (my 1st BENGAL love) Were off to Rochester to play at Nazareth tomorrow!!

Go BROCKPORT!!!

The problem with firing a coach (for on the field reasons) is that you create the expectation that whatever level they were at is below the minimum acceptable standard.

If you fire Vosburgh, you send the message that 15 years of winning 7, 8, 9, games every regular seasons, and going on an occasional playoff run is not going to survive a single down year. If that's the message you want to send...I mean, sure, go ahead. I'm not sure that's a job I'd want to take on, but go for it
Ill give you that for sure, but what needs to transpire to right the ship?
I understand the what ifs, but everyone deals with the exact same situations and at the end of the day they dont finish last in their conference after years of being at the top.
Maybe this was a one off season.  I sure hope so, but truth be told, every aspect of the team was weak.

You would have to ask Boyes (about "succession plan"). I'm not gonna ask him! To his credit we haven't had a losing season since 2010. And many at 1300 Elmwood feel that LL may be an easier deal in 2019. I'm not saying that ( so please don't misunderstand me) , but there's a feeling around campus that LL will be possibly a better move for us!

Go BROCKPORT!

Buff State HC will be fine. he is steadily trying to build a god program. Buff State A. D. will determine when Buff State HC steps down (since they are the same person). I hope Boyes stays for a while. I remember what the program looked like before he took it over ( a 2nd time)

I like Jerry Boyes, obviously.

I wonder though, if Buff State has kind of been scared away because of their struggles with non-Jerry coaches. Look, he's not going to let them sink to the depths of 1-9 or 2-8. But I don't know if the ceiling is regular playoff berths and an occasional win.

This year's team went 6-4 in the regular season, but nearly every one of those wins required a late, often last-minute comeback, and all four of their losses were no-doubters. You can spin that as a team that never gives up, fights hard. You can also spin that as a team that struggled to put away even lousy teams like Bridgewater, needed to hit a 4th and 16 to beat Wick.

Like I said, I like Jerry. And the non-Jerry results are what they are. But I think these are the teams you're going to have, for better or worse: 5-7 wins a year, maybe an upset wimevery season or two.

Who knows? I don't follow Fisher. I'm just saying, there are plenty of steps you can enact before you hit on: Fire the face of St. John Fisher football.

Absolutely agreed.
That would be last resort.
I would love to hear the excuses/solutions that are being bantered around.
I will say this....The D was absolutely awful and I put that directly on recruiting and the D coordinator.  Not sure if that is a fit there.  He is an alum so Ill cut him a little slack but that squad has to pick up the pieces..

dlippiel

dlip knows it was a tough year for the Cardinals and is looking forward to seeing an improved SJF squad next season. This season had to be very difficult for SJF fans considering the high standard that the program has been living by over the last decade. Hopefully they will get a coupel of young studs next season and the upper class-men will step up and use this season as motivation to come to camp stronger and ready to roll. Hang in SJF fans! dlip loves you guys and knows better things are ahead.

dlip is thinking, if Germinerio is 100% healthy the Port will take the Wolverines to the woodshed and declare their dominance as the new hope of the east...of course then they'll be staring at Del Val. Man it's tough to get to the semi's...

Honestly dlip likes both teams but he really does feel like Brockport will be the east's best representative in the semi finals. Last week RPI's defense, which dlip really likes but still thinks may be a step slower than B-Ports, had some success against Wesley (who does traditionally start slow) and really put the offense in a position to win this game. dlip also really likes RPI's offense but again, he feels like Brockport's O is on another level. RPI's offense just couldn't get the separation on the scoreboard when they had the chance and against an offense like Wesley if you don't kick the **** out of them when they are down you KNOW they will come back.

The difference is Brockport's talent and consistent execution on both sides of the ball will be too much for Wesley's prolific offense and average defense...

Maybe Im an E8 homer but that is the way im seeing it go down as well.  I havent seen Wesley this year and couldnt comment specifically on them, but I have seen Brockport numerous times and they are a legit contender.  They are a balanced well coached machine.  I liken them to the steam roller that Fisher ran into in 2011 in St. Thomas....Yikes what a beatdown

Ehh. RPI was able to capitalize on two short fields off an interception and a muffed punt for 10 of their points, both of those coming in the first half. Then Wesley held them to 7 in the second. Is Wesley's defense down comparatively to years past, I'd say sure... but do I think Germinerio is going to go crazy and light Wesley up through the air, well, I'm sure he will have success, but not that much. Unless the other team is Mount Union, Wesley's D has usually made enough plays to keep games competitive.

Certainly true waterboy and please don't get dlip wrong, he has a ton of respect for Wesley. However he thinks Wesley will be facing a different beast in Brockport.

Wesley has played two teams that dlip would consider in Brockport's tier (Frostburg and Del Val), the closest being Del Val who defeated  Wesley (albeit week #1) and had 242 yards of offense against the Wolverines. Now dlip considers (maybe incorrectly it remains to be seen) Brockport to be a bit stronger on O than the Aggies. The Aggies put up 242 yards against Wesley with 142 of them coming through the air. RPI put up 317 total yards of O against Wesley with 227 in the air. Germinerio will certainly be throwing come Saturday. He doesn't believe that RPI or Del Val's O is as strong as Brockport's. The game will probably be close but dlip thinks B-Port is the better team as a whole and that Wesley's D is just not as strong as in years past (or dlip's impression of how strong they were in years past).

dlip is expecting a shootout come Saturday. It will be interesting to see which side comes out on top. dlip does think that the winner of this game will represent the east in the semi's.
