Brockport coaches are out working like crazy. The recruiting class coming in is crazy talented.

Crazy, twice within two sentences..................that's crazy. :)

Speaking of which, given your name here, can you shed some light, from the deep inside, about Joey G. and the move to school #3? Thanks!

Not sure if this has been reported on here or not, but good news for Ithaca fans, the Bombers landed NJ's 1st Team All State QB, AJ Wingfield

Pssst...we're in the LL now  ;)

I did see that, though. It's a great recruit, though I'd guess with Germinerio and Nabi on the roster, it's not likely he'll have an impact this year.

Yeah, but IC is sill on the Saxon slate. And at Butterfield to boot. The good news for AU is that IC can only play ONE quarterback at a time.  :o

Bombers798891 - you're right! I made the mistake because I saw you posting in this board and those the Bombers were in this league.

Street and Smith College Football is out and D3 predictions authored by Keith McMillan has Alfred at No.17. Ithaca and RPI also in top 20 from LL. Will this be the Saxon Warriors year?

I still like my Golden Eagles even with the loss of Joey G.

Freshman qb to watch at bport: Freddy June https://www.hudl.com/video/3/5269491/5bfe1125b53ecb0cec3fb524

Along with a very talented recruiting class I still like Brockport to take the E8

BP is still the team to beat in the E8 imo

The Saxons will host the George Fox University Bruins from Newberg, Oregon this season.  Great to see but I think it is a one time, not home and home.

Wonder what Keith is sniffin'....must be that Mayberry dairy air. Saxons finished 2018 strong despite some disappointing performances, with the solid win over Salisbury at Seagull Stadium. Defense was stellar, offense executed at a solid level.

Funny thing, a retired prof with whom Pep often exchanges preseason predictions, says the Saxons finish 2019 at 5-5. Quoting the academic, "We've got Ithaca, Cortland, Brockport and St. John Fisher on the road....we'll be hard pressed to win any of those." And, apparently he believes the Saxons will stumble against another team, be it George Fox, Morrisville State or Utica, Pep does not know.

There's a lot of work to do in Mayberry if AU is to live up to Keith's prediction.

On paper this is without a doubt the best recruiting class Brockport has ever brought in. 3 really good qb and athletes and speed all over the place.

On Saxon Warriors!
Pep,
Thanks for the local professorial prognosticator input....Mayberry dairy air, quite the reference to the naturalness surrounding the Alfred campus....I was pretty sure that Brockport, despite the disappointing playoff loss and the loss of Joey G, would still be the favorite....but Keith has high expectations for the Saxon Warriors....I did make the drive to Mayberry last year for the JV game against Hobart and was impressed with much of the young Saxon talent despite the spirited comeback by the Statesmen (obviously strengthened by the local farm fresh air)...anything is possible from the Alfred gang as they always play with that warrior spirit...Keith may be right

While on a recent jaunt to Syracuse, Pep picked up a copy of Street & Smith's and read the piece. Given that brief synopsis it appears that had Keith consulted Pep or perhaps other Saxon fans close to the program, it may have altered his assessment. Nevertheless, Pep is confident that the Saxons will be in the mix and have certainly set their sights on an E8 ring after falling short in 2018.

Pep was pleased to fist bump some ring-bearing Saxon grads at commencement a few weeks back, and is hopeful of seeing a few ring-bearing alums this weekend with AU's Alumni Reunion.

And, for those who are members of the National Football Foundation (who with membership are afforded a vote in the College Football Hall of Fame balloting) are asked to read the ballot to its very end before casting a vote. The next-to-last nominee on the ballot, once again, is none other than the legendary Alfred University Football Coach Alex Yunevich (177-85-12) who mentored the Saxons from 1937-1941 and 1946-1976 and overnight converted the "Scoreless Wonders" into undefeated Saxons. It is to his credit that Alfred University has a rich football heritage. Despite being a cost-efficient one-man show, Yunie set high standards of competition for Li'l Alf that, thankfully, have since been well maintained.

On Saxon Warriors!
+K to Bartman for trekking to Yunevich Stadium for a well-contested AU-Hobart jayvee game, and
+K to Jonny for returning to the E8 boards to offer his occasional pocket change...the boards are pretty quiet over here!
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
