The e8 is taking shape for me.

Cortland is clearly the frontrunner, having yet to really break a sweat.

Both 4-1 teams strike me as having issues in the passing game. Brockport had just 12 offensive first downs yesterday, went 3-for-13 on third down, and had half as many sacks/INTs as they did completions. The only games they've looked even decent in offensively were against Alfred State and Buffalo State  Port's defense looks amazing, but I don't see them beating Cortland.

Alfred also just doesn't strike me as having the horses to go toe-to-to with the Red Dragons. They had one 35-yard completion, and the other 11 completions got them a total of 74 yards.

Fisher has simply got to play a competent first half at some point. They're just digging themselves holes. They're clearly making good adjustments during the game and halftime, but they can't keep going down by double digits in the first half.

As far as Utica goes...look, I think Cortland is going to run the table in the E8. No shame in losing to them. But that was an ugly showing.

It could be a dream game at MetLife between the 2 best teams in the East, both undefeated.....Believe me, Hobart will do its best to scramble that scenario on 10/19, but the horses are out of the gate and the Bombers and RedDragons are out in front.

So what's the word on Morrisville? Can only imagine the Dragons will be out in force again on both sides of the ball, but can't expect the Mustangs to play possum! I was a bit shocked at how Cortland reached #2 in the ERFP,  but enjoyed seeing it regardless!

Mville was up on Hobart at halftime 21-17 and tied in the fourth quarter until Hobart ran a 75 yard reverse that took the wind out of them, final score 38-24. They have a nice passing game with Flatow at QB and legit receivers that can get separation in Cooper, Hall and Tuohy. Their defense will have a tough time stopping Cortland's Offense, but Cortland should not look past the Mustangs or be overconfident, they have some nice talent just not that deep.

I think the biggest issue for the Morrisville offense is sacks. They've allowed 16 on 182 dropbacks, which is a pretty high number (As Utah says, sack totals can be influence by a lot of stuff, so take it with a grain of salt. But it's worth keeping an eye on)

Not shaping up to be Fisher's year but the future looks promising at least.  Walsh is a super talented freshman QB but this is the 2nd game in 3 weeks Fisher has the ball with a couple of minutes to go in the 4th and a chance to take the lead...and Walsh turns it over.  Interception at Ithaca and a fumble at Utica.

Final score:  Utica 34 Fisher 28

The defense still not allowing much of anything in the 2nd half of games, outside of the Bridgewater game.

Buff State - 6 points
Bridgewater - 15 points
TCNJ - 0 points
Ithaca - 0 points
Brockport - 0 points
Utica - 6 points

At some point, the coaching staff needs to have Fisher's D ready from the first half

Mustangs could move the ball tonight! Made us sweat a bit! The Dragon Offense is nasty! Best I've seen! Defense was exposed a little, but the Morrisville offense was slick. If they could play D, they would be a real threat!

Mville put a scare into the Red Dragons until a couple of questionable calls went Cortlands way. Mville's Cooper goes for 200 yards plus exposing Cortlands pass defense . Germenerio will slice up the Red Dragons in Metlife unless they make improvements by then. I also think Brockport will beat Cortland after watching this game because the Brockport Defense will stop Cortland on a lot more possessions than Mville did and Brockport will control the ball with the June bug running the offense. Just my opinion.

Not sold on Brockport's offensive production just yet. Just like I wasn't sold on Cortland's defense as the opponents have allowed false security with overinflated stats. Should be a good game! I don't disagree on your assessment of what the IC offense might do! Today looked liked the pass defense of years past!

Good to see Hellwig back out there after the Hobart game / injury. BP really does seem firing on all cylinders. Cortland may still be an underdog to the defending champs. Will see...

Brockport's lone points allowed in the last three weeks came after Alfred State recovered a fumbled punt at the 3, and it still took them four plays to score. Unreal. Just an elite defense.

That said, I'd like to see Brockport's offense show up against a team with a competent defense. Maybe getting Hellwig back is going to elevate the offense, but you've got to do more than light up Hartwick to convince me.

Cortland's defense was lousy last week, and they were lucky to get out of there with a win, but I'm still making them slight favorites at home in that matchup.

So far several teams have had a head scratching performance! Maybe just unfavorable match ups, poor performances, etc....Cortland's was this past weekend, Ithaca's was v SJF. While  Brockport couldn't score an offensive point on Framingham, and the list goes on. Not sure anyone is a clear cut favorite in their conferenceS but then again, I'm here typing from my couch and not on a field coaching. Can't wait til next Saturday!

Pep,
Good luck to Alfred against the Red Dragons. I just wanted your opinion on a Pep Band matter, specifically, RPI's Pep Band(no Hockey game that night I guess) brought 20 instruments and signs to the Boz that read "Hobart Still Sucks"(by they way they..... had 3 large awesome Sousaphones) , now is this  Pep Band appriopriate? ...maybe I should shrug it off to the current world we live in; however , it ended up being quite motivational for the Statesmen.....oh, and they also had one kazoo
