Wow! Good one. How did you ever come up with that video? Just what we were talking about. Gave ya a +K, wish it were more.
Stay well.  🎥 🎙 🏈   ;D

Last one here make sure to turn off the lights and turn the heat down.
We will see you next year god willing

I don't know how old you are, but I hear Don Meredith in my head signing......."turn out the lights, the party's over". :(

jmcozenlaw

I'm old enough to remember. And I also hear it.  🏈 🔫

Don Meredith was a classic!! he was a co-owner of a small radio station (5000 watts) in the Philadelphia suburbs, about 5 five minutes from me. He was involved and here a lot. One of the nicest human beings to ever walk the planet. he and Howard Cosell were the ultimate paring, as later, Summerall and Madden became.

You don't see guys like that anymore.

jmcozenlaw

Dandy Don Meredith aka Danderoo. Ah yes, I remember him (them) well!. They really DON'T make them like they used to. Nice human interest accounting of your memories of Meredith.
Stay safe and stay well. Go Football! 🏈 🍻  ;D

(I better get off of the Empire 8 board before they come after me! It's just that the OAC board is so dead). 😌 💤

Thanks my friend. You and yours be safe and well......as well.....and don't fret about being on the Liberty board. My MAC board is dead as well so I go fishing where the fish are biting. :)

PBR...................THAT was great!!!! What an awesome guy and even better pair. When Gifford came on board it was like production gold.

There was nothing and will NEVER be anything like Monday Night Football back in the heyday. NOTHING has come close (no, Sunday Night Football NOW couldn't hold Monday Night Football's jock from THEN) ;)

I wholeheartedly agree, they could make two no win teams seem like the super bowl of entertainment ;D

trust me- old enough and Im glad you went that route- Monday Nights with Don and Howard.....magic

The kids would call this my "get off my lawn" moment (and not that I don't have those ;) ) but this is not one of them.

They were enteratiners who knew the game. Sadly missing in the majority of announcers today. Tony Romo is great for today........but the bar is lower than the one set by Dandy Don and Howard!!

fisheralum91

Good call on Tony, he is a multi talented guy.
Don Meredith- no but good.
Im just so bummed that there will be no E8 this year.
Kids have to he heartbroken - regardless if you get an extra year of eligibility or not.
I have a freshman at Oneonta not knowing if there will be winter sports either......UGH

Dandy Don Meredith has an honorary doctorate awarded to him by Alfred University in 1971....when they dedicated the new physical education center to long-time A.D. James A. McLane!

So....call him Doctor Dandy Don!

Pep,
Disapointed we never played the opening game in 2020, it took a pandemic to keep the Statesmen away. Good luck in the New Year!

Saxons tentatively will play a full-member only Empire 8 football schedule in March, opening at Hartwick the March 12 weekend, hosting St. John Fisher the March 19 weekend, and traveling to Utica on the March 26 weekend. Associate members Cortland, Brockport and Morrisville not in the mix.

Looks like the Saxons have a full slate for 2021 starting with a Friday night clash with the Pumpkinheads at Boswell Field Sept. 3.
Other non-conference games have Mt. St. Joseph in Mayberry Sept. 11, and Ithaca at Yunevich Stadium Sept. 18, then on Sept. 25  we'll take our kazoos to Kalamazoo!!

Get the fight song ready!

Alfred at Utica kicking off at 4 pm today for some classic, uhhh, Tuesday Afternoon Football.

Hartwick will not be participating this spring. Fisher might play both these teams, I don't recall.

St. John Fisher was on schedules and then disappeared from them, so I'm not sure they are participating this spring. I see two Alfred-Utica games but nothing else for the moment.

Anyone still around these parts? Decided to post for the first time since 2018 lol. I got to see Brockport vs Alfred in 2019. Hoping to get to a game this year, presuming we're allowed. Hope all the "regulars" are still doing well and are healthy.
