Been too lazy to check. Anyone have the overall records or head to heads between Brockport, Alfred and SJF?

Dragon, if you mean comparable results, Corts and IC went head to head vs. Brockport, Alfred and Buff St. Could easily dismiss results against Alfred and Buffs. Bigtime blowouts by respective 47-3 and 58-8 for Cortland, 34-0 and 51-7 for Ithaca.
Brockport with only true head to head test. IC early matchup against then ranked Port gets 23-8 edge by stretching slim 10-8 halftime lead. IC defense gets three fumbles and three intcp's including pick-6 starting third quarter. Port with 315-242 yardage advantage -- IC just 19 rushing. Corts with near mid-season 31-10 home victory requiring second half comeback. Down 10-0 and 10-3 at half and later ignited by qb B. Segala scrambling.
Ithaca has obviously played more strenuous overall schedule, particularly late. Neither for sure got caught looking ahead last week. And as suggested on another board that Corts possibly taking it easy this week now they've got an NCAA playoff bid ........get real!!!!

Was just curious was Alfred, port, SJF and even Utica have for overall records and who beat who in the league. Based on non league play, I have this mental image of everyone having losing records!

Pretty ugly actually ...

--Alfred 4-1 conference, 5-4 overall and should finish 5-5 with Brockport on deck
--Brockport 3-2 conference (yikes, lost to M'ville), 6-3 overall
--St. John Fisher and Utica both 2-3 conference and battle it out Saturday. UC now 5-4 overall, SJF 4-5
--Morrisville 1-4 conference (hangs hat on win vs. Port), 2-7 overall
--Hartwick 0-5, 1-7 .......

Of Cortland non-league foes: Wittenberg 6-3 overall, 6-2 in Northern Conference and winners of last four games. College of NJ 3-5 overall, 2-3 in NJAC

Add in a terrible Buff State team OOC for Cortland

Shoutout to Pep's Saxon Warriors for a big win over Utica. The E8 is all Cortland's this year, but it's great to see Alfred focus on improving over the season....congratulations! Good luck against Brockport this week.

Thanks, Bartman! The Saxons have come a    L O N G    way this season....all credit to the coaching staff that his worked harder, in Pep's opinion, than any season he can remember. Prior to the season, was told by an assistant coach that this year's recruits were top notch kids with a lot of talent. Impressed to see the growth in the freshman class and making major contributions.

After the 0-3 start, yielding 34 points per game to scoring 6 per game, Pep figured the 2021 season was over. Saxons have improved with each outing, got a promising frosh QB developing in Zuke Smith and frosh RB Max Freeman IV (who's making a name for himself), and some outstanding young defenders making big plays.

After the 0-3 start, a fellow Saxon fan said the Saxons would be lucky to win a couple games. Speaking with him the other day, he remarked that "This has been an outstanding season for this team."

Win or lose Saturday, Saxons have had a very good season after a rocky start.

This board doesn't get the traction it used to, but I was happy to partake in the Brockport vs Alfred game. A great defensive performance to wrap up the season for Brockport. Good luck to Cortland in the playoffs!

Yearly check in from the now E8 OG.

AU Pep where you at?!?

Ice Bear

Ice Bear is looking forward to seeing if the Pride, former E8 and LL member can do anything against Cortland. The Pride may be able to move the ball here and there, score a bit, but Ice believes their D is no match for the Cortland O. Probably a double digit win here for the Red Dragons, but you never know how a well run triple option offense will mess with a mother****er???

Hey Tags....just lurking on occasion. Pretty quiet season...Saxons lose three straight blow-outs to start the season, but improving each week (with first year skill players), put together a string of wins to get to 5-4 and then finish as they started with a blow-out loss.

Pep enjoyed a visit to Growney despite the skary visitor side skeleton bleachers, a 38-35 Saxon win with probably AU's best offensive output of the season. Special teams gave up TDs on kickoff and punt returns, however...

It's on to basketball season as Saxons are off to a 3-1 start with quality wins over Brockport and Ithaca, a decent start for first-year Coach Erich Kaempffe.

Ice Bear is ecstatic for the Pride and the way they battled Cortland. That ****ing triple option O can just give you fits. Ice congratulates Cortland on the win. Ice says they did what they had to do.

Not enthused with the offensive output today. Though we would see more points on the board. Defense did what it had to do against a gritty option attack! Next week should be a good one!

Congrats to the Cortland Red Dragons on a great season. You represented Central NY and the E8 well all season!

Anybody out there in Empire 8 football land? For one of the most active boards of Post Patterns, was it covid that brought crickets?

Update from Saxonville:

Legendary Alfred Football Coach Alex Yunevich (177-85-12 from 1937-1941 and 1946-1976), has finally been inducted into the Indiana Football Hall of Fame. Yunie played his high school ball at Bicknell High School just north of Vincennes. He started at guard on his high school football team as a freshman when senior Herdis "Dick" McCrary was the big man on campus. McCrary went on to star at the University of Georgia and won a few NFL titles with the Green Bay Packers.

Meanwhile, Yunie, star fullback (replacing McCrary) for the Bulldogs, recruited by Knute Rockne to play at Notre Dame, instead enrolled at Purdue where as a sophomore, as one of the "Four Riveters" led the Boilermakers to their first Western Conference title and an unbeaten season (8-0). Yunie scored three TDs in the fourth quarter of a Dad's Day game at a packed Ross-Ade Stadium to rally the Boilermakers from a 16-6 deficit to a 30-16 win over Michigan.

At Alfred, his Saxons went unbeaten at 7-0 in 1937, his first season, just a year after failing to win a single game. He went on to record six undefeated seasons in a coaching career interrupted by his four years of military duty with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Congrats to Yunie for the long overdue honors as a player...he's also on the ballot for induction into the NFF's College Football Hall of Fame for his coaching achievements.

Yes, Pat....."an Alfred Legend."
