Alfred State would still have to join the E8 as a full member in order to fix that. (Or Hilbert could. Or Naz or someone else could add football, etc.)

Why?  Couldn't they be affiliate members like Buffalo State is in the LL? Is there a rule on affiliate members?

There's a rule on core/all-sports members -- you have to have at least four who sponsor the sport.

Ah ok yea that makes sense I guess.

Ice Bear

The Bear points out the enticing match-up between undefeated Cortland and Morrisville State. This, like the Bomber/Pumpkin game in the LL will be quite telling in regard to how the E8 will shake out.

Cortland is gonna steamroll the Mustangs.

I'll settle for  a win, but like where your head is at with the "Steamroll" prediction !

Morrisville came to play. The Dragons have been moving the ball but are working for it. We had one drive stall within the red zone and missed a long FG to close the half. Had the distance but bounced off the left upright. Currently 14-0 but the Dragons have left some points on the field.

Dragons roll 28-7 and gave their lone score up with under a minute to play. They controlled the game from start to finish and the stat lines weren't even close. The Brockport Defense should be a nice test next week. Morrisville should be ok the rest of the season. They were gritty and fought tough all game.

The Ice Bear says Cortland not getting any love from the panel...Red Dragons should head into the weekend breathing some fire with a chip on their shoulder.

I'm on the record as only thinking they'll score less than 50. :)

They will most likely be slowed down but their D has been playing well! I still have them winning! 28-14 Dragons

I think everyone is sort of focusing on the wrong matchup. All the talk is "Can Brockport slow down Cortland's offense?"

What about "Can Brockport score on Cortland?" This is an offense averaging 18.75 points a game going up against a defense allowing about 12 a game — almost all of which came in garbage time.

Last year, Brockport's offense put up 10 points on Cortland — and gave 7 back in the process. Why should I believe this year is any different?

To wit:

2021 vs. Framingham: 24 points scored on offense
2022 vs. Framingham: 20 points scored on offense

2021 vs. Ithaca: 6 points scored on offense
2022 vs. Ithaca: 0 points scored

2021 vs. Rochester: 16 points scored on offense
2022 vs. Rochester: 23 points scored on offense

2021 vs. Fisher: 27 points scored on offense
2022 vs. Fisher 25 points scored on offense

Dragons had a sound victory with all phases playing well. We saw a pick 6 and punt return for 6! The offense ground out a long and time consuming drive to close the game. Brockport's offense had some energy. They should do well the rest of the way.

The Red Dragon offense did what it does. Don't be deceived by the yardage total. They averaged 6.1 YPP and scored TDs of 4 of their 7 offensive drives, including a 13 play drive to close the game

But I was a bit surprised at how well the Brockport offense ran the ball when Simonds went out. McGuire completed no passes, and Brockport had 264 yards on the ground. That's not a great outcome for the Red Dragons.

The game never really got close, in the sense that Cortland had a double digit lead the entire second half. But it's possible Simonds could have made a difference late in the game, when Brockport really needed to pass the ball.

IMO, this wraps up the E8. I suppose the Morrisville/Brockport/Utica winner could have very faint Pool C hopes, but I doubt it

Definitely interested in seeing how the Port, Utica, and Morrisville round robin will play out. I'd like to think the Dragons are looking good, but can't let complacency get us snagged up!

Utica needs to win out and hope Union wins out or at least goes to 8-2 to give them that regional rank win. Another option is for Utica to have WNE become RR. That would take WNE winning out and sneaking in Region 1 rankings. Brockport will need to win out and Utica to beat Cortland, most likely having 3 teams from the E8 regionally ranked, getting them to 1-2 in the final regional rankings and on the table.
