Overturns coach's punt call leading by TD ....4th and 2 in CSt territory. Boyes picks it up!!!! Huge!!

TOP ....Corts 40:16  .....IC 19:44

IC's C. Schumm far from frosh play. Tremendous clutch effort .....224 yds., 1 TD passing

Gotta believe former Bomber All-America qb Jerry Boyes one proud papa. Some kinda bloodlines!!!

Just saw the Mock Bracket - and boy I hope the D3FB Boys are wrong. Win Cortaca and get a 2nd Round Matchup against Mt. Union -  assuming they get past a Game Union Squad.

Ithaca on the other hand has IMO two winnable road games. (Springfield / Susquehanna)

The guys typically know what they are doing when they post mock brackets - I knew that Susquehanna 4th Quarter fold at home was going to come back an haunt the Dragons!

There's some flexibility in this part of the country and it could certainly go differently. But Cortland can't play Ithaca and Ithaca can't play Union and shouldn't play Endicott and Cortland shouldn't play Susquehanna. I don't think Mount Union should get the Texas winner in the second round. Could perhaps swap the Cortland-Union matchup's placement in the bracket with the Grove City-Delaware Valley placement.

And yes, Ithaca at Susquehanna definitely winnable, but Ithaca did lose to Cortland and Cortland lost to Susquehanna, so from a bracketing/seeding perspective, it's a realistic placement in the bracket.

I mean, Union is objectively better than Springfield and Mount is almost certainly better than Susquehanna and Endicott.

I think we're all aware of the constraints, but it's pretty inarguable that if that's the draw, Ithaca got the better end of the bargain

I'm thinking Cortland deserved a home game, but hey what do I know. Good luck to the Red Dragons on Saturday. If Ithaca beat Endicott, I'm sure Cortland will.

Cortland is the better team.  They were perfect Vs Ithaca but that game meant a lot to them after crapping the bed last year.  They need to focus though and not let that big win deflate them this week....it's happened to them before.

I've watched enough games this season to say Cortland didn't play the same offensive game plan as most weeks! They didn't push the tempo or go big on the obvious downs. They played the Black/Red, Odd/evens and hit all the calls! They shortened the game and limited ICs possessions. I'm sure if they went warp speed and pushed over the top at those safeties, we could have scored 48 or scored 14 depending on the breaks!  Limit ICs touches and leave it on the strength of the Cortland team is a super methodical attack, or score every 4-5 plays with their Star Wars offense and send the defense back out against an effective offense! We didn't want a shoot out. Susquehanna showed us how that could backfire! They schemed this game to perfection and it paid off! Amazing!

Boyes is absolutely unreal. A generational, all-time D3 QB. He's going to be an all-american this year, and should be next year.

Worry not about being on the road, Dragon fans, and book your rooms in Alliance.

On a related topic, how on earth does AJ Wingfield make the D3 preseason team over Boyes?  Wingfield is a good QB, but Boyes was third in the nation in QB efficiency, and better than Wingfeld in almost every statistical category. (Wingfield didn't even put up the best numbers in his own conference.). (Of course, there may be other QBs better than Wingfield, nationally.  I'm just saying they are clearly better ones in NY state.).

They owed IC a makeup after naming Cortland's Zack Graczyk the NY region player of the year over Tim Locastro in 2013. 10 years later, they've righted the wrong

Or, more likely, there's more to these lists than just being the superior player statistically

Totally get that, but would think that as the only real tangible measurement they count for most, and it's not even close.  A quick look at 2022 national rankings for QBs -

Passing Efficiency:  Boyes #3, Wingfield #65
Passing YPG:  Boyes #24, Wingfield #132
Passing TDS:  Boyes #16, Wingfield #67

Again, I think Wingfield is a stud QB, but Boyes seems criminally overlooked, to me.

I feel like my preseason love for Boyes has held up pretty well.   ;D

Let me know when Boyes has thrown for touchdowns on 100% of his attempts, like Julien Deumaga, owner of a 648.40 passer rating, fellas.

True enough.  He has my first team vote.

I don't think his time of possession is very good.

Slow week over here! Dragons should be the favorite this week even though on the road.  Brockport should have a winnable game although not a cakewalk. Utica could have their hands full. Hobart has a solid body if work. Utica got worked in their 2 big ones this season. Best of luck this week!
