Yes Pep, Hobart HOF RB Don Aleksiewics "73, A-Z, was on that team and the best D3 RB I ever watched live (almost made the Washington Redskins roster). He was first team All-American in his Senior year. The games against Alfred were epic back in those days and our little small college stadiums were packed with standing room only ringed around the fields. Coach Yunevich of Alfred was a legend back then and his Saxon Warrior teams were the best in the region winning the Lambert Cup in 1971. Ahhhh, those were the days.
Your Saxons scared the hell out of Hobart Saturday. Then on Sunday the Hobart JV won a great offensive contest 32-29 winning on a last play interception on the 1 yard line. The Alfred football program looks good this year and has some depth.

I had already left Fisher when Vos came aboard - but had friends that played for him all those years ago.
They said he had the vision and tenacity to make the program great- even while taking gut punches for a few years as the program built.  Watching the rise and ultimate fall of the program is gut wrenching and have had friends on the team in many different years.  The one constant is Vos, the losses of key and I mean KEY OC's and DC's who have gone on to much bigger things is inevitable.  It is not just the recruiting that is killing Fisher but I believe that what used to be the cornerstone program of the college is now just well- another program.  Fisher isnt a Football school anymore.  Hell- if you had to pick a sport- Fisher Lax is the real up and coming program on a national level.

He's not getting any help from Admissions and the leadership of the school like he used to...

With that being said, he hasn't adjusted. They aren't getting the kids in they used to and yet they're running traditional college schemes on offense and defense. They need to get creative within the program and change it up...

Run the option or something, it masks so many deficiencies. Do something besides trying to throw it with lineman that can't pass block, QBs that can't throw and receivers that can't get open...

Something has to give here. You can only wonder what the program would look like with Fox or Fitzpatrick at the helm...

Fisher's offensive coordinator is the same one who was the OC at Ithaca the last years of Welch's time there. I think traditional is simply where his game is suited — which is, undoubtedly, why he appealed to Mike Welch in the first place.

I can speak first hand about the admissions issues.
FA91's son interviewed at the alma mater and I was super pumped and proud that Fisher was one of his top 2 schools.  The tour was just a monumental disaster- 3/4 kids in the tour were athletes and the guide brushed off the facilities, Growney and sports in general.  Hell we didnt even get to see a classroom.  Just the dorms, Lavery Library the science bldg and the dining hall.  He was treated like a number-something that I promised him WOULDNT happen at Fisher ever- and even with me reaching out to contacts at the Admissions office to try to remedy- the damage was done and to make it worse that FA package was a joke.  He went to his number one choice and couldnt be happier.  He found a home and Fisher was NOT it.  I asked a few of his classmates who also went on tours and interviews and the experience was eerily similar-to the point that when I mentioned to my contact at Fisher that I really would like an opportunity for my son to go to my Alma Mater- I even gave the actual number being floated by the other University - they simply said no..While I love my alma mater because of the experience that I had there, I cant but help that the University hassnt made a wholesale change in its philosophy.  Sad really.

Cortland took a team that was much better than Hilbert, and pounded them just the same! We got some dudes out there again!

Cortland 70-7 over Lycoming ......42-0 half when Boyes unbelievable 16x17, 325 yds, 3 td. Completes first 15. Is 18x19, 340 overal with quick second half exit. WR Alphonostjohn 7 catches, 182 yds, 2 td in first half. Exits after taking Boyes' lateral for td to launch final half.
RDragons at Susquehanna next week looking to avenge sole '23 setback. Out of range followers like us will have to pay up to view .....ugh!!!!

Ever since I watched Boyes in the scrimmage against Hobart I've been incredibly impressed with his accuracy and coolness. Cortland will make some teams cry uncle early this year, if there was a white flag rule, I think it would be used by quite a few teams. It's not just Boyes, it's the whole team , very impressive. I'm glad they represent the East.

Yeah, that was impressive

If they drop over 35 points on Susquehanna this week I'll be impressed. Dropping 70 isn't easy, even against a weak opponent! You can't get complacent and must stay focused. The reserves coming off the bench played like their careers depended on it!

Don't think there'll be complaceny vs. Susquehanna. All you need to do is check on '23 result in which Susquehanna was down at Cortland by a bunch late in the fourth quarter AND WON .....RDragons were caught coasting to take time off the clock. 'Old Mo' quickly shifted suits on CSt mistakes. Susquehanna caught 'lightning in a bottle' and KO'd its host as time expired!! Am sure the memory lingers for this veteran Dragon squad. Always thought that kick in the pants propelled Cortland to its King of the Hill finish.

It's going to vary by school, for sure. Flo is the platform, but it's the school that does the production.

In my opinion, the inconsistent quality combined with the cost/demand for online viewing puts Flo sports in the net negative category for D3 football, from a consumer perspective. The cost of one month's viewing could also purchase entry to all the home games for instance (most Empire 8 schools in mind). (~20.00 usd)

On a slightly more positive note, Gocella continues to make improvements and is our best QB since Joe G, our WR group looks deep, Simmons carried the load due to injuries in the RB room and looked good against a strong D, and both our lines looked pretty good. Loss withstanding, looking like another good year for the Eagles.

I'm very much looking forward to the Cortland/Susquehanna matchup this weekend. I think this will be a very good test for the 2024 Red Dragons. Both teams will be hungry for some very obvious reasons. I am hoping the Red Dragons make an early season statement over a top 25 defense. Let's go Cortland.

I really like when Brockport is good (I think it's good for the East) and it's great to hear they have both someone who can sling it and some depth at the receiver position. Wishing the Eagles the best of luck this season.
