PENDERGAST NAMED ASSISTANT COACH WITH ITHACA FOOTBALL & MEN'S LACROSSE STAFFS


Tim Pendergast, former head football coach at Hamilton College and Cornell University, has been named an assistant football and men's lacrosse at Ithaca College, following a national search. The announcement was made by Ken Kutler, Ithaca's director of intercollegiate athletics and recreational sports. Pendergast will coach the football team's defensive backs.

"We are so pleased to have Tim Pendergast as a new member of the Ithaca College staff," said Kutler. "Tim's past experience, including head coaching positions at Cornell and Hamilton, is such an important asset for the future success of our program. His ability to communicate – in instructional settings and on a personal basis – is crucial to motivating our athletes to compete at a high level and achieve their goals."

Pendergast, who began his coaching career at Ithaca, has 24 years of football coaching experience beginning with the 1980 season when he was part of an Ithaca staff that helped the Bombers reach the Stagg Bowl for the second straight season. He served as head coach at Hamilton in 2000 before Cornell named him head coach; he led the Big Red for three seasons. His career also includes time as an assistant at Cornell, Northwestern, Maine, James Madison and Memphis.

A 1980 graduate of Cortland, Pendergast earned a master's from Ithaca in 1986.

The Ithaca football team has made 15 appearances in the NCAA playoffs, including three in the past five seasons. The Bombers went 8-3 last fall and won their fourth consecutive Empire 8 title. The men's lacrosse team has won the last three Empire 8 regular-season titles and ranked 11th in the final 2006 poll.

First word out of Camp is pretty upbeat....annual Family picnic was at capacity as usual....some HUGE freshmen strolling around...

Returners I spoke with sound ready to go....

Everybody seemed anxious to get started....  The new coaches sound like great additions....

Expectations are really high...what else is new.....

Union game left a sour taste in everybody's mouth....no surprise...just a lot of determination..

Cornell Scrimmage on the 26th...not sure but I'm guessing we visit them again......

Then it's the real deal.....at Butterfield the 2nd......
