Rowdy Rowdy Bomber

Lineback... you worry me.

As far as the Bombers go, anyone know the real deal on Killa Kameron Mohammed?  I heard rumors that he didnt return to camp?  whats the scoop-

Last I heard it's not just camp he is not returning to...he is not returning to campus at all.

It was fun having him but he was a novelty at best.  Our D-Line will be fine.

10-4 Jose.  Killa Kam was fun to root for but in the end he just took up two guys. I would have liked to see him on the OL during the Cornell scrimmage.  Oh well, seems like we will be ok w/o him.

Looking forward to Saturday.

4 days till the BIG RED visit the SOUTH HILL

He's still in the directory, for what that's worth.

Don't know much, but sounds like there is some good talent coming in.  Very few Freshman have made an impact over the past ten years, but you never know.  The Cornell scrimmage will be a nice gauge on where some of the young guys are.

Sent a personal message to a bunch of you.

Hey, word is that the Bombers/Cornell scrimmage is going to be at Butterfield on Saturday.  Four weekends of football in a row in Ithaca coming up!  Bad news for the gas bill at the Napoleone household!

Techmobowler- thanks for the welcome - all I know is that some of the highly recruited defensive players are pretty frustrated that there are 26 guys  going for 4 linebacker positions I happen to know that from a friend on the team

Welcome to Division III Athletics Pilot.  Tell "your friend" that the upside of not being allowed to give scholarships means you can recruit as many people as possible.  Seems to me that even if there are 26 LBs in camp, not all of them are actually competing for a job.  The jobs seems to be fairly set.  Nevertheless, competition in camp is always a good thing.

The only freshman I am truly interested in at this point is the one that takes snaps.  Tecmo, did you get a look at him when you were at practice?

Pilot-

My advice to your buddy, and all of the younger guys is to be patient.  Guys who are going to be a huge part of the squad this year including Napoleone, Gordon, Davis, and many others didn't even play with the the Varsity team their first season.

When looking at the roster after it was first posted, I noticed that Ithaca had some good talent coming in at LB including a NYS all-state selection, guys from some major NY football programs, talent from Connecticut and South Carolina. This is a good thing, and the hope is that the defense can soon be the intimidating force again, that it was a few years back.  I'm sure it's tough for some of these guys to be playing with the third or fourth string right off the bat, after being the "big dog" in high school.  The cream will inevitably rise though, and a player with the talent, drive, and work ethic will eventually end up where he would like to.

While I never played, I can tell you the atmosphere around Butterfield is about as good as it gets for a division III program.  The history of the program is deep, the fans are loyal, the field is beautiful.  The Cortland game is insane, the Fisher game is huge, and the Playoffs are a great alumni reunion, as people from all over travel to root on the Bombers to another National Title. (The President of the College herself, drove three hours to RPI to watch a playoff game played in two feet of snow a few years back).  While I'm a part of the "extended" Bomber family as a fan, your buddy has the opportunity to be a part of the real thing, something many of us message board diehards could only imagine.

If all the above fails, always remember that the girls that these football players attract are ridiculously attractive.   Best of luck to your buddy.

Jose- I sent you a message in your inbox about an hour back with an answer to your question.

tecmo, thanks for the update...I had no idea I could even receive messages on here.

Pilot, I am far from a coach, just passing on a reality of D3 athletics I learned the hard way.  Tecmo is right though, if you can play, you will.  IC hasn't really had that many freshman contribute in a huge way over the years.  But all those guys end up making an impact.

tecmobowler

I initially figured you were a player as well, but if that was the case, you would be at practice right now!

Stick around on the board as the season goes on... we need all the bomber fans that we can get.

Pilot,

When I was a freshman at Ithaca, I remember there being 18 freshman linebackers, and 16 of them looked legit.  I also bet you that 18 of them thought that they were going to start at LB for Ithaca someday.  It turns out that only two of them ever really amounted to anything.  16 of them thought they could play d3 football when in reality, they couldnt.  If your good you will play, thats the bottom line.

We had about 5 Eddie-Meath players that never played a varsity snap.  Lets hope the best stick it out.  IC needs some d-lineman and some tough d-backs as well.

That reminds me.  You will probably see several of those linebackers moved to other postions and end up being starters.  You will also see d-backs starting at linebabckers in a few years.

Tecmo is right Pilot, stick around, having Bomber fans in the room makes everything better.  Besides, if you stay on the boards, you get invited to the tailgates....

Don't worry about my question to Tecmo earlier either.  It wasn't about you or your friend.  Just a running conversation a few of us have been having since, well, April or May it seems.

Welcome to the boards.
