I noticed that Alfred has set up a fund to help with the medical expenses for their player who suffered the spinal cord injury in last weekends' game. It would be great if all D3 posters would contribute. As the parent of a player I know I would appreciate the help if my son were to ever suffer such a serious injury.

Thank you for your kind words and support. I'll repost the info regarding the medical fund:

The Friends of Saxon Athletics is coordinating fund-raising efforts on campus and among alumni to benefit Julio Fuentes, a sophomore criminal justice major who sustained a serious injury during Saturday's football game against Thiel College.

Julio has been in "guarded" condition –meaning the extent of his injuries is still being evaluated –in the Intensive Care Unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester since Saturday, Sept. 9.

Because of National Collegiate Athletic Association rules governing benefits for athletes at Division III institutions, all funds raised through Alfred University must be earmarked specifically for "medical supplies, medical equipment or medical treatment" for Julio.

The Friends of Saxon Athletics will be coordinating its efforts with community-based fund-raising initiatives in Olean, NY, where Julio's family lives. Julio is a graduate of Olean High School and played football there.

Donations may be sent to Friends of Saxon Athletics, in care of University Relations, Alfred University, 1 Saxon Drive, Alfred, NY 14802. Please indicate on your check that it is for the Julio Fuentes Recovery Fund.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Wow, I had to spend the last 45 minutes catching up. I was ill and on the couch yesterday when I flipped it to MTV for the 18 non-TRL minutes a day that they now use for music videos. The first thing I see is that beautiful vixen Kristen Cavallieri from "Laguna Beach." I quickly realize that she's in the video for that guy Teddy Geiger's first hit. From there, I see that the two of them makeout in a pool during the video. Well, that just sent me into mourning for the last two days. Teddy Geiger is from Pittsford...which means that I'm not going to be the first Rochesterian to tag that. I hope my fellow Rochesterians join me in mourning.

The big issue in my life right now is do I leave in the 2nd half of tomorrow's 3:30 games to go stare at Kate Winslet who will be at Tulane for the premier of that new movie "All The King's Men?" Auburn v. LSU and ND v. Mich are huge...but she's fine.

There was so much to catch up on I literally opened a Word document so that I remember my thoughts. Here are some quick hits:

1) Booby--Why is your distaste for the South growing? It took me awhile, but I'm warming up to it. What about it don't you like? What areas made you hate it so much?

2) Maxpower--That legislation to rename it the "IHOP-Waffle House Line" will never pass. There are ZERO Waffle House's within 30 miles of my apartment in New Orleans. However, there are four IHOP's. Are you kidding me? What a joke. I went to Houston for Labor Day and passed (I counted) 36 Waffle House's. Yet they can't get one near New Orleans. I blame Ray Nagin. There are few things better than two Pecan Waffles and an order of "smothered and covered" home fries when your head is just bangin on a Saturday or Sunday morning.

3) Rowdy Bomber--I guarantee you wouldn't be taking shots at the women of the Gulf Coast if you ever visited LSU. I wear sunglasses each time I go up to Baton Rouge so Ms. GB15 doesn't slap the crap out of me. Though my hanging jaw sometimes gives me away. I'd venture to say LSU has to be one of the five hottest campuses in the country.

4) ManInOrangeHat--Keith has not returned from his exile. In fact, I just talked to him today. Apparently, last night he was in a bar near his apartment in SoCal and it got robbed. Dudes came in with automatic weapons, skicaps, the whole nine yards. They made them get on the ground, empty their wallets and all that stuff. Pretty crazy. Nothing like that happens in Ithaca. It's kinda boring without the Collegetown Creeper under arrest now.

5) Fisher Fans-- You are all understandably apprehensive for IC's inevitable six TD victory next weekend in Pittsford. That, however, does not give you the right to hate on the Ithaca posters. We're having fun.

Predictions for tomorrow...

IC over Hartwick
Fisher over Mt. Ida
Cortland over 'Port (27-16 is my guess)
Montclair over Springfield
Alfred over Larries
A 2004 graduate of the "almighty legendary" Ithaca College. Goooooo Bombers.

I can't even fathom the fact that 12 pages have gone by in a day.  Do you guys work?  I'll go with a bomber stomping of hartwick and go bombers15, I am sure she has been with 15 guys from the roc so no worries.

Havent posted on this site in about a year....current student at IC.  Really pumped about this team this year..(not that IC doesnt always have a team to get excited about ).  This defense is revamped, the 3-4 really works well with their personnel.  Having Blumenauer at LB, and Stephens and Terlecki all on the field at the same time...man theres some athletes on that defense.  Something i think we were missing last year, we have playmakers all over the field.  There seems to be a different attitude with the defense this year, i happen to live with two bomber defenders (that i will leave nameless), the focus is there.  These guys are confident that no matter what 11 players are out there, they will make the stop.

The one thing i would like to see is it a bit more of a pass rush from the three down lineman.  I understand its harder with the 3-4 to get a rush from the DL alone, but that would really take the pressure off our secondary, esp this weekend when you are facing a quarterback like the one at Hartwick.

offense gets it done as always, i see the Hartwick blitz-happy defense getting picked apart by DJ, throwin for at least 250 yrds.

This team is focused and ready to go...lookin forward to Saturday!!

I
I BELIEVE
I BELIEVE THAT
I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL
I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!
I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!!

GO BOMBERS!!

Stop with the low blows, stealing a fisher chant isn't gonna help you at all, everyone knows I believe is Fisher's chant,  And to people who call the IC-SJFC game tainted because fisher picked off a pass to win the game in overtime, what was the IC win in overtime on a picked off pass last year,  Again i think fisher ithaca is another thriller, I will hold off on score untill I see how Ithaca's defense holds up this weekend, but I wouldn't be shocked if Ithaca looks past this weekend,  Maybe the score is a lot closer than any will think.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

bomber27

Thank you for that lovely insight superman57 but if you are saying you(Fish) coined that phrase then you seem a bit out of whack.  No low blows going and the blown pick was two years ago.  That is the past.  It is a great rivalry and a great game.  No one is looking past this week and if I could, I would fly away from cali and watch it becaus eit could turn out to be another great one.  Everyone is focused and all is well on both fronts.  Oh, and if you thin this is trash talk, wait till next week, it gets pretty bad.

gobombers15

Actually, the first time I heard the "I believe" chant was at my 12-year-old cousin's soccer game. They were all girls, by the way. Just sayin.

Saying that one school owns that cheer is like saying one team owns the "2, 4, 6, 8, who do we appreciate?" chant. Come on now. We know Fish/IC will be a great one. It's inevitable that one team's fans will be gloating like they just won the game by 3 TD's and the other fans will have a handful of plays that if they went the other way would have won the game for them. It's simply a matter of who will make more plays.

However, I do think that IC is going to stuff the box this year and make Suchnya beat them. That wasn't an option in the past when Fehrenbach was around.

LL posters, new faces.....how can a few days go by and twelve pages fly by.....did I miss something???? Sounds like a Fisher-IC pre-game week....

And here I thought we were getting along......

Personally I like it better when the Ithaca and Fisher fans play nice, it creates more harmony or something.  The games have been really fun to watch, both sides have to admit that.  Can't really agree with a blowout win either way since the combined point differential in these matchups since 2002 is 10 points in Ithaca's favor (10 point win in 2002, 1 point win in 2003, 7 point loss in 2004, 6 point win in 2005) or something to that effect.  Either way I wish both teams good luck in making the playoffs and doing some damage.  Well booby is off to work 12 hours now, when I get back I want to see some encouraging scores and everybody.......play nice

Rowdy Rowdy Bomber

MIOH,
wow... such little faith in the Rowdy to make it thru the week-  I have 2 jobs now, i find it hard just to check the boards these days, let alone post... and get thrown off.  for that comment, i shall smite you and be on my best behavior.  (till game time that is).

Lineback---

the word of the day is covet....

best not to do so! ;D
thank you fisheralum91, if i had karma (-29k doesnt count), that would be a well deserving comment.  .. i also suppose i forgot LSU, yes indeed it is the diamond in the rough in the south.  i will agree, but i would like to challenge someone to see how much ofthe student body of LSU is from the North.  Also, LSU... despite the hottness factor.. i just found out that they have a child care facility for their students.  wow.... nuff said.   okay, go bombers, and somebody please find, and return my
#7 WHITE BOMBER JERSEY that SOMEONE STOLE FROM THE ITHACA- FAN SEATS with 2:00mins remaining last weekend!

bomber27

Rowdy,

There are alot of people from the north there because they heard about MIOH saying all the hottness coming out of the south.  I have lived in TN and I agree with the fact that southern women are the best looking.  Even better than Cali.  Hospitality makes them the best around.

pg04

Well Cortland's Defense sounds good as advertised thusfar.

fisheralum03

can someone keep us updated on the Fisher game today. thanks

pg04

Conversely, Hartwick's defense looks like swiss cheese as expected....

pg04

Cortland and the Port tied at zero after 1.
