Max you just jumped to the top of this week's funniest logo contest.

But I have to wonder if "First Down" is P.C. Also, is it socially acceptable for us, as fans, to take credit for the first down achieved by the persons playing the game?  If not, should the President be leading such an effort to usurp credit so rightly deserved by the student athlete persons participating in the contest?

I think the problem is the "we". We should probably change it to "one of the teams on the field has achieved a first down, but let that be no detriment to the opposing team's commitment to excellence."

But maybe we are giving too much credit to Ms. Williams. Those of you who were still students two years ago remember her saying at a rally that she would like to take the commiters of bias-related incidents and "throw them off of the west tower", which incidentally reminds me of what IC will do to "The Cardinal" this weekend.

Anyone have the answer to my Robinson/Reile WR question? Or do I not deserve to ask it?

fisheralum91

Hey max-
The cardinal is Stanford.
Fisher is the Cardinals.
No you cant ask.
Perhaps Dr. Bain should get in on this..
Perhaps a friendly wager between presidents?

maxpower

Not that I don't appreciate a good talking to, but I know the Fisher/Stanford thing. I was making fun of our softball broadcaster from last year that WOULDN'T STOP SAYING THE CARDINAL during the Fisher game.

As far as Dr. Bain, why don't they just slug it out? I'd still take Peggy.

fisheralum91

You may need to rethink the fight-
Doc Bain is old school military.

bomber27

But Peggy is.......a very tough competitor.  She has a commanding right hook.  Old military or not......

P Dub - 65
Bain - 5

the game will be closer than this fight

fisheralum91

Dont know about the fistacuffs-
Dr. Bain was my mentor and told some pretty good military stories!

Game will be close though- i do count on that.

I hope the Fisher fans (and team) are ready for the Ooooga Boooga chant.  I know I would really like that one if I were an opposing team.

first down club faithful, if we are unable to tailgate at fisher, my house is about two minutes down the road and is more than willing to accomodate us.

All hail the Booga

I guess in fairness I should let the Fisher fans know some of our cheers so they have a week to prepare.  Most of them come on defense, since we usually score too quickly to arrange anything choreographed while on offense.

1st Down-  The fans yell "hey quarterback" in an effort to grab his attention.  Often the quarterback ends up pondering why someone is calling for him, resulting in a delay of game penalty.  12th man!

2nd Down-  Ah, the famous "2nd down huts."  The fans holler "hut hut", "hike", and "go", in an effort to confuse the offense of the play count.  Most teams average 6-9 more false starts facing Ithaca, because of the mass confusion 2nd down huts provide.

3rd Down-  Home to the third down noise, which now appears as an official cheer on the Bomber scoreboard. Fans create a chaotic whirlwind of noise, capable of shaking dorm rooms in both Towers.

Oooga Booga-  Not sure on the history of the chant, but scores are followed by Booga Chuck's Oooga Booga chant, always a demoralizing blow to the enemy.

On offense, the noise is usually aimed at the opposition's defense, primarily the near-side cornerback.  Often CB's are pondering if we were telling the truth, after one yells "hey #25... I facebooked your mom!" as Kelly Gordon sprints by for his 4th touchdown of the game.

This is what is in store for you Fisher.  Can you handle this!!??!!

damn the ooga booga, bring on the i believe that we will win chant! and in case we lose bring on the "see what had happened" excuses list, i'm already starting mine.... here is what i have

1.  Inexperienced QB really cost us
2.  Robinson is still emotionally traumatized by getting hurt last year against Ithaca
3.  The defense was too lax after the 3 previous games against lessor competition
4. Ithaca alumni clearly paid off the zebras
5. Our team is better we just didn't play to our potential today
6.  Damn that kicker! It's all his fault!!!

so i think so far i'm off to a good start, i'll be prepared for any losing scenario by saturday!
