Maxpower,

I appreciate your reasonable rational.  However, I believe I heard recently, and not for the first time, that the average pro football career is about 3.5 years.

oohhhh man....been waiting for this one.  Even though I agree with the argument that Fisher v Ithaca isnt a "rivalry," its going to be one hell of a game.  Theres one matchup that I am excited to see: Fishers O Line vs Ithacas D line...last year, (correct me if im wrong), Fishers running game was able to move the ball pretty well.  But this year, we have a healthy Phil Byers, and are running the 3-4 with plenty of athletes at the linebacker position.  Ithaca, traditionally, has always prided itself defensively on being great run-stoppers.  Should be one hell of a battle up front.

Goin up to Fisher round noon, drink few beers, then Sunday hittin up the Bills game!!!  Should be one hell of a weekend!!

Prediction:

Bombers 34

Fisher 21

Hey Bob- What's your take on the game, I think it will come down to who makes the fewest turnovers, both teams seem about the same on paper???

er1948
You summed it up very well. I think Lang and Stepnick can be a real problem...and I don't need to discuss "your" R & R boys.....

IC is much healthier this year......the "reload" of new faces has been very successful...we don't seem to be relying on one or two receivers...he has four maybe five legit threats at WR....Juvan is performing very well....the Three Bomber backs..Baez, Davis & Robinson are all strong.....

Coaching and turnovers.....we know this field plays well even in rain.....

Strap up and let's get goin'....

I'm a little miffed at the "break" that everybody has taken talking about Alfred vs. SJF.....maybe the diversion is good....

As far as Brockport posters go.....they are a part of the E-8 board...wish they were in the conference.....

I know when i get back here tonight I'll have five, maybe eight new pages  to read....can't wait !

FDC bus getting loaded up for the trip!

Thanks bob!  I do also wish Brockport would join a more regionally sensible Conference, but nevertheless, like I said we play the only teams in the E8 that matter anyway   :D

Now that IC has switched to the 3-4, Fisher's OL weighs almost twice as much as our DL. Even if you take away the numbers advantage, they average 40 lbs more than the Bombers. Byers will have to really step it up to get a hold of Robinson or Kramer/newKramer.

Of course, the simple addition of Kameron Mohammed would bump the Bombers up to equal the strength of the Fisher OL, the entire Utica secondary, a mid-sized Sumo wrestler, and Mike Ditka's brain. We miss you Kam!

I'm in a school district with over 30,000 kids, and there's no baseball/soccer, and football is only offered to 8th graders.   So I went over to check out the middle school girls softball game today.  Pretty entertaining.  They keep track of outs, but each team still bats 10 players per inning.  If one team gets three outs, all the base runners are sent back to the dugout and it's like the inning begins again.  It reminded me of tee ball.

I was asked to coach third base, I guess because I'd seen a softball before, and have two quotes I'd like to share:

The first one comes with two outs and runners on first and second.  I tell the runner on second that there's two outs, so as soon as the ball's hit, I want her at third.  She proceeds to immediately run to third, while the ball is not in play, and I tell her she has to wait for it to be hit before she can run.  Her response: "I'm so confused."  It was very 7th grade.

The second comes as the other team is leaving their dugout to take the field.  One girl runs up to me and asks, "Which way is left field?"

Middle school is awesome.

I think we can agree that Ithaca and Fisher are pretty close talent-wise, at least they have been over the past two years.  I actually thought Ithaca had more talent in 2004, while I might give the nod to Fisher in 2005, even though the results didn't match that thinking.

So what has changed since last year?  I can provide an opinion from the Ithaca side...

On the plus side:

#1- The defense is significantly more healthy.  At this point last year, 3/4ths of the secondary was hurt, and our former "Monroe Country Player of the Year" was out for the season.

#5-  The RBs are a year older.  Donavan and Baez look even stronger and faster.

Not to mention the RBs are healthy as well.  Well, Davis was a question mark earlier, but I haven't really seen him featured much.  Really wish it was sunny and warm for my trip back.  I found out today that I'm still very Phoenix as the temperature dipped to 40 this morning and I was out there with a jacket and mittens.

PepBand,

I'm really "exited" to get back.  I got a little bit of a price break, but I have to leave pretty early Sunday morning.  The new airport security is a pain in the butt though.  I have to check my baggage because if I want to carry cologne, shampoo, or toothpaste on the plane I'm obviously a terrorist.

Middle school is awesome.

AUPepBand coaches "Biddy Basketball" at the YMCA...middle school ages 10-12. In 10 seasons of coaching, AU PepBand has had one winning season but he's had loads of fun.

Coached a set of twins who both were pretty good, one of them a bit heavier than the other. Following our final game, a mother had made us big basketball cookies for after the game, to celebrate our season. We're in the locker room eating cookies. AUPepBand makes a snide remark about how the heavier twin probably is the first to the dinner table. He replies that actually, his brother eats a lot more than he does.

"Well, then he must have a higher metabolism," AUPepBand suggests, and the heavier twin quickly answers, "Yes, and his testicles are bigger, too."

Indeed, middle school IS awesome.

"Exited" that you can make it back, MIYH....here's wishing you a bundle of Ooga Boogas for making the trip!
