I got hired as an assistant coach for the softball team today.  Since we don't keep score because "everybody wins" it's pretty easy.  They even have a student manager to keep track of the lineup  and positions for the two innings we're able to get through in an hour and a half.  No money in the budget for me, but I get a "gift certificate" at the end of the season.  Your guess is as good as mine in terms of where it'll be to.

There are lots of possibilities for tail gateing at fisher but the good parking lots go quick, so the earlier you get there park over by the New Nursing building kiddy corner to Athletic buildings and park in the back and it should make for some fun tail gating, but the school tends to be pricks when it comes to adult beverages so plastic cup and by the way as any recent alum can atest to, security at fisher equals out to High School drop out who can't find a job, (sorry to the few good, gaurds at fisher)

if you check the FDC group on facebook, some IC student from the area said you guys could tailgate at his mom's house.  I will be thinking of you guys while I am in temple celebrating the jewish new year. shalom.

Trueblue- if you plan to tailgate at Fisher, plan to keep your adult beverages covered, they have the Gestapo coming around and they make you pour them out if they recognize the container

thanks for the input guys. I'll be the one in the parking lot with blue cups then. Should have a good IC crowd there. Hoping for another good game, no OT though, the last two have killed me.

That student is me.  For those IC/FDCers familiar with Pittsford, my house is down East Ave from Fisher, across from Nazareth College, neighborhood East Ave Manor.  But this all depends on whether or not we are going to tailgate at Fisher.  Either way, we can use my house as a fall back if for some reason we can't be at Fisher.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Aupepband,
Who is working for the Alfred sun? 2 years ago they found out about an injury one of our w.r.'s was dealt during a celebration, before members of the team knew.

AuPepBand, are you making the trip out to Springfield?

Sun must have inside connections.

Not sure yet about the 6-hour trip to Springfield....for a noon game. Got our graduated trombone who might show, but need to see if we can muster enough others for a band.

You going, NewSchool?

In all reality let us recognize reality.  Obviously the IC v ST J Fisher game is paramount to the Empire 8.  The difference in score will tell a lot.

Also, the Alfred v Springfield game will determine Alfred's possibilities.  The AU defense is capable of holding S'fld's offense if S'fld can only run the ball.  This is how Alfred beat Hobart in the "Miracle at Geneva" in '71.  Hobart's All American running back was shut down by Linebacker Bill Ekman.
An only running team can be stopped.  It didn't hurt that Alfred scored 3 times in the last 7 minutes to beat Hobart.

Regardless, Alfred has a passing attack and good defense.  How good these attributes are we will find out.  The running game must come through to keep open the passing potential.  If this happens Alfred will win.

It will be an exiting Saturday.

This is a great point. As a bomber fan I must say I have, and most of us on this site have been overlooking the other big E8 game this week, Alfred and Springfield. A very interesting matcheup. Great defense for Alfred vs. Great running attack of Springfield.

This game may also cause a big mix up in the E8 when it comes to who wins the E8 championship and more importantly who gets an auto bid.

also fun to see the poll on the front page. "Which New York team will advance furthest in the NCAA playoffs?"

thoughts on this???

If springfield wins this weekend, which i'm not saying they will, should be a really good game... buuuutttt, IF they win, I think we all need to give a really good look at them as a serious threat to the E8 title and maybe a run into the playoffs.

They are the only team in the E8 with legit opponents to this point. Pretty ballsy to schedule Union, Montclaire St., and Alfred for your first 3 games of the season. Coming out of that undefeated I think would not only be a great regrouping from last year, but a huge statement.

Other thoughts?

oh yeah, prediction: springfield over alfred this weekend

but without tecmoyellowhat's younger brother, MSU isn't really much of a contender anymore.

Preview of the big game from the Ithacan.  Sounds like Fisher has played 8 men in the box for most of this year.  Coach Welch hints that might not be too successful this Saturday.

ICemanJK- WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!!  Good to have yah here.

So... E8 Championship this weekend and the celebrations & pre-game festivities coudl be haltered?!!  ugh.  Perhaps the rent-a-cops will allow us the same privilages other schools give us.  "hold it low so we cant see it and you're fine"

I think, now that its thursday, its time for a prediction.  Taking into account all factors, 3-4, weather, Robinson, B-A-E-Z, Donovan, Juvan,  Stepnick, Byers, Blaise, Welch... here it is...

IC - 38 vs SJF - 25 (Two point conversion)
