kramer is mainly a throwing quarterback but he can run the ball as well.  was an excellent 3 sport star in highschool so he is very athletic.

Ithaca has had a bit of a tough time in the past with scrambling quarterbacks...

IS EVERY GAME A RIVALRY GAME TO SJF???  That excuse can only be used once a season i.e. Cortaca....... so, pick one... U of R, Alfred, Ithaca, Port??? which is it?

I think the answer from Fisher's perspective is, yes, this is a rivalry.  From our perspective the answer is, yeah, they are a good team but we play our rival Nov. 11.

I don't think it matters how talented the backs at Fisher are.  It helps when they are good but even marginal backs will be able to put up good numbers in that system.  My question is, how deep is that OL pool.  Probably the guy that deserves the most credit for Fisher's success is the OL coach.

Kudos to the big men up front!

Give the rb's their due though- some great ability in that backfield.

I don't mean to imply that Robinson and Reile are stiffs.  But I am saying talent is not a prerequisite to succeed as a runner in Fisher's offense.  R&R's predecessor was mediocre on his best days and still put up huge numbers in that system.  Those numbers came when the rest of the team was awful too.

fisheralum91

Meyers mediocre?

Nah.. not buyin what you are sellin.

But agree on the importance of the line!

bomber27

Fisher Alum beat me to it but Meyers was pretty good.  We did hold him to like 3 yards a carry on 40 carries his senior year.

I will agree that Meyers' numbers were pretty good but I don't think he was talented.  Here is what I am basing my opinion on (so as to rule out the thought that I just think he wasn't good because of the uniform he wore and the time he wore it):

- Like bomber27 alluded to, he averaged like 35-45 carries a game.  Plus Fisher's entire passing attack at that time consisted of slinging it to him in the flat.  A lot of backs would put up better numbers if given more touches.  I suppose I can concede that he must have been in incredible shape to carry the ball that often.

-When the OL opened a hole, he never ran away from anyone.  He spent entire games gaining 7 yards in gaps that Robinson/Reile/Baez/Donovan would turn into 30 yards.  I only saw him play IC, and we had some good LBs at that time, but he was still getting run down from behind too often for me to think he was an elite back.

-I don't remember him breaking a single tackle.  Like I said before, he used the space created by the OL well, but got virtually nothing after that.

I think breakaway speed and the ability to make defenders miss are hallmarks of great backs.  If you compare him to Robinson, it is clear to me that he was mediocre at best.

fisheralum91

Never saw him play so i will defer to the plaintiff's council, yet i think he was a tad better than stated.
