Interesting how a big win and an attempted justification for a high ranking (and subsequent low ranking for a dislike opponent) changes a fan base's opinion of certain teams.

Wesley was a national semi-finalist a year ago.  They deserve the #2 spot.

So last season's performance is relevant...I agree.

one great team in Ithaca

Just threw this in there for two reasons: 1) Funny how we are great after you beat us when before you beat us we are beatable, down, not as good as the past, etc. and (2) great team falls all the way to #7.  that doesn't say much for the team that beat them...does it? See more below.

Cortland is  my #4 because they have alot of experience and they beat Brockport State.

Odd how Wesley's 2005 season garners then #2 but Cortland State's "experience" and 2005 is only good for #4...

Springfield at #5.  They are back and it shows with wins over quality opponents like Union, Montclair State, and Alfred.

wins over quality opponents ranked #9 and unranked.  See Alfred below.

Ithaca falls in at #7 because of the decisive loss to Fisher.  A loss to Brockport this week could devastate the bombers.

"great" team loses back-to-back with second loss to a resurgent team only worthy of the #9 spot?  Also, IC at #7 propels SJF to #2?  Interesting...

Alfred was in my thoughts as well.  But I just don't think they have the same team as last year.  I think they go 6-4 this season.  Sorry AU fans!!

Not the same team yet, their loss at Springfield legitimizes Springfield in some way?

Also IC has been the cream of the crop in NY for a long time.....Fisher beats em twice in the last 3 years and all of a sudden they are amazing......Guess who else has beat IC 2 of the last 3 years.......

This is my favorite post in quite some time.  It is always nice when rival fans show their hand and admit, via implication, that IC remains the measuring stick for success in D3Football...

Honestly I don't believe in my opinion that Cortland is better than Fisher.  I have seen both teams play this fall and strongly feel that Fisher is a better football team.  I think they just have too much offense and too good of a defense for Cortland to handle.  I know Cortland has an excellent defense but it would be tough for them to hold Fisher under 21 points.   And i dont think they have the offensive firepower to outscore fisher.  especially with the fisher defense being the best it has EVER been.

Hmmmm what would Bill O'Reilly say about a Fisher Alum honestly thinking Fisher is better than Cortland....hmmmm....ha.

joseq,

ithaca is a great team and i never said they werent.  I just said fisher is a better team this year is all.  i said it before the game and i say it now after the beating they gave IC.  Also if you look at my poll i have ithaca as the top ranked one loss team in the region.  The only reason they are #7 in my opinion is because it hurts to lose a game early in the season, even to a good team like fisher.  if IC won thei past weekend i would have gave then the #2 spot and fisher the #7 spot.  cant wait till this weekend.  anyone going to the fisher game for alumni weekend?

I haven't had the chance to see anybody yet, but I will be in the 585 this weekend for Alumni weekend and look forward to seeing Fisher play, but last year, I truly thought that for the first 7 or 8 games of the year Fisher was a great team, and then the OC started to choke on his tounge and was calling horible plays, and this was also coming from a former player on the offense,  I will call Fisher and Cortland a tie at least untill the B-port game for fisher and then Cortaca.  Good luck all teams except Hartwick this weekend

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Quick thoughts before I am off to work

Yes Rowan is 1, if they played Fisher I just don't see us coming out on top

Wesley I don't know much about, but being in the top 10 in rankings doesn't mean much.  Fisher beat Springfield the first time ever playing them a couple years back when Springfield was ranked 5th in the nation at the time.

Cortland I do not believe is better than Fisher, and there is not much bias there since I am a transfer from Cortland (the aweful truth is revealed Ithaca fans!!)  These two teams should have continued to scrimmage as they have done every year, just to give a slightly better opinion

Ithaca and Brockport are both right up there and this weekend should be a good barometer of which team has the most resolve and ambition to try and make a real attempt to get into the playoffs and do some damage

LL teams I can never figure out, last year i thought we would dominate them  and they end up smacking us around in the playoffs, so I will just hold off on them for now...

Well that's it for the moment, i can't wait to get back around midnight tonight and see what conversations have ensued.  PEACE

So now apparently T.O was trying to commit suicide?  His life is never dull, eh?
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

Here is something from ESPN Bill Simmons to lighten the mood (it is slow at work this time of year)

Q: Did Bill Parcells play Robert Paulson in "Fight Club"?
--Dave, Boca Raton, Fla.

SG: Actually, that was Meat Loaf. But you bring up a good point: The 2006 season has been overtaken by NFL coaches with man-boobs. I don't blame the coaches. I blame the NFL for outfitting them in those golf shirts that end up sticking to their bodies. They may as well be competing in a wet T-shirt contest. Make sweatshirts or windbreakers mandatory, please. For everyone's sake.

B-27  How did you land a job way out in Calif.???

flash83

dubz, i think they should both be in there together, donovan can hit like a fullback and pound for pound baez will block with the desire of bam bam, they are both good recievers and it will really make the d think harder!

flash83

also , did you notice how baez will jump in the air and clap after a good run, he will pump up the bombers!!!! just like the FDC!

This is a good idea but, the coaches must have already considered this and moved on.  It is hard to believe we didn't see more Baez, especially in the second half Saturday.  I mean, lets be honest, he basically won the Fisher game last year by electrifying the stadium.
