B27- Thanks for the offer, not sure what his plans will be, but it is nice to know your experience and knowledge is there for fellow back, if not from IC though

once he leaves we will be garbage (yeah somebody definitely said something around those lines)

There was a long debate before about how it won't hurt Fisher when Robinson leaves because that system can make even a mediocre back (like Robby's predecessor) look good.

I know it was brought up earlier...but the Ithacan article was interesting to me.
http://www.ithaca.edu/ithacan/articles/0609/28/sports/0tailback_.htm

I hate criticizing these kids who are learning to write, broadcast, etc (I've been there)...but while it is a really nice article and both backs are great....why do they always have to bring up the "Arguably the best ever" line.  Best this author has seen?  Maybe.  Best ever, probably not.  Someone listed off a few from years past earlier and I agree with those and would add Carpenter....also as staed, Johnny Utah can shed some light as well.  While I have only seen old video, I think many would argue that Jeff Whittman was the best ever.

Anyway - my point is, I hate that writers have to use phases like that just to make an article more interesting.  It was a good article about 2 good kids and football players without it.  Besides, he miss quoted Anchorman too.

I threw out those thoughts earlier off the top of my head with the caveat that it was just going off the Mike Welch era teams I had seen ('99 to present).  A more in depth review, and some opinions from people that know way more than I do, reveals that the most talented Bomber backfield of all time is:

1988:  fullback Paul Parker earns all-America honors in his only season at Ithaca after transferring from Navy; QB Todd Wilkowski (a recent inductee into the Bomber Hall of Fame) goes on to earn all-America honors as a senior; tailback Mike Scott (2,106 yards in two regular seasons) earns first-team all-America honors. No surprise that the team wins the Stagg Bowl.

(Wittman's first season was '89 and I agree that he is probably the single best back in school history).

However, it is unfair to compare Butterfield's option teams to Welch's pro-style teams.  I will leave open the debate as to the best backfield tandem since 1994 since our collective memory in here certainly covers that time.

hey er- whats your take on the one man team topic?

er1948

Fishalum91- I tend to hear it all the time, but don't pay much attention to it as the same of #25- he is very happy with the system they are using, and I think it is fair to both backs- the only thing I've heard on here is today from grand pere, and I don't know for sure what his issue is???

Hmmmm I smell an idea for a good poll for the Fisher website...We know the webmaster guy reads the boards

Speaking of our favorite Fisher employee. I just swung back by the website to see his latest handywork.  Turns out Fisher has a volleyball player named "None of the Above."  She must be an international student...right?

Who will lead the Fisher volleyball team in kills this year?
Jenna Engel
Kristi Pallotta
Alyssa Ziobrowski
Morgen Kandefer
None of the above

er- to think that grand is who i think he is, seems a little out of sorts, or that i am reading his post way out of context...

So this weekend is Brockport's homecoming... you mean to tell us the Eagles scheduled IC for homecoming? portgrad, FLA, what gives??

er1948

Fish alum91-  Not sure if I'm reading it right either, but grand should read the article in the Cardinal Courier about the Fisher backs and maybe that would give him some insight- there are several great quotes from both players that indicate to me that they feel they are equal and are happy with the situation in the backfield

Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th
