If the Bomber passing game is clicking, how is the 'port secondary?

Just throwing it out there, but could it be that the Ithaca fans' view of Cortland could be skewed because Cortland always plays them so close due to the rivalry.  By this I mean they play at a level not commonly seen in their other games, giving them the appearance that they are better than what they really are.  I bring it up because I have seen both teams over the years (although i admit i have yet to see Cortland thus far this season) and I just don't see how they have the edge over Fisher.

I agree, this conversation has come to an end. However flawed I view your arguments, they are your opinions and you are certainly entitled to them. I agree that the comment certainly toed a line, unintentionally of course, and could have been misconstrued. With that said, it was not racist, and I'm simply trying to point out that if I had not responded, many on this board who know to whom you are referring, may view him as racist.

I hold no ill will towards you or your views. I just respectfully disagree. My prediction for this weekend:

Ithaca--16
Brockport--23

This is the game where Donovan should be receiving the brunt of the carries, not the fast track at Fisher. This is especially the case when, as others have mentioned, Baez swung the momentum so much in last year's contest between Fisher and IC. I think Port's line wears us out and a late Bomber drive stalls in Brockport territory. With the exception of the playoff game in '03, this place has been a house of horrors for the Bombers.

What the @!$#@?@! (oops-please don't tell the Ithacan).....dissertations.....SJF RB controversy.....IC RB Controversy....Best Ever Controversy..... Harlem's playin' Niskayuna....

What did I miss....No wait...spare me...I missed 12 plus pages....this is the busiest place on the board....maybe with the exception of the LL board.....

Iceman...sounds like its whose line is going to take control..both sides of the ball....I agree, this is the place where our "mudder' gets into it.....Donovan & Baez have to have just a crack.....they can take care of the rest....I say the replenished Bomber Defense plays up to a much higher level....

I won't make the call, but I think this game is a lot closer than either team wants...

         Bomber Football comes to B-Port.....

"Sunny" and temps "reaching" 60...in the sun, without the wind.....showers late afternoon....

***Upset special***

Springfield becomes slightly overconfident and overlooks Utica and loses in a barn burner!

Utica-35
Springfield-34 (Springfield QB has 700 yards rushing in the game accounting for all of the offense including the potential game tying touchdown as time expires but the kicker fails to convert the XP)

Also Hartwick will keep it closer than Fisher would wish, only losing by 7 1/2 in a game score that defies logic.

Iceman, we'd better see a lot of you on here tomorrow if you're going to have 80 posts by the end of this week!

Orangehat's curse continues, as it's been announced that Pedro will be out of the playoffs with a torn calf muscle.  I wish orangehat was a Fisher fan.

booby...

Cortland always seems to play well in big games and/or against quality teams....Cortaca as you mentioned..but it seems thay play Rowan pretty close each year.....AND, they return a ton of starters from a  very talented-athletic squad last year....

SJF and Cortland is only a game I want to see if it sets the table for a rematch with IC in the playoffs....

keepin it light.......

SJF at home...confident.....under the lights...with er in the stands...
Cardinals throttle Hawks early at home in the rain......running the ball...go figure!

If Robinson and Reile are both on the bench resting in the second half...WHO is the third back?????

....Springfield Express still rolls.....

MIYH...I lost count, but I'll keep goin till I hit 100...

Ill agree with booby on this one, Springfield keep's it in Sharpe's hand for too long and  Utica slips by with a win.

Hartwick will meet the same fate they suffered at Butterfield...sorry hawks...

I have to say that there is actually some good news in teh Ithacan.  Coach Welch was actaully quoted as follows, "You'll see Alex [Baez] on a more balanced basis against Brockport, no doubt."  That was in regards to Baez's four carries against fisher.

I am sure Donovan will carry more than Baez, but I have to believe coach and think that the attack will be much more Baez-ed.  Do I sense a ray of hope???

ICemanJK

actually, check that 100 count MIYH...the negative karma I got deterred me for a few days...and completely forgot that it's almost friday.

I haven't seen Cortland either, but a couple people I REALLY trust about DIII football are saying they are not just a dark horse, they're the best team in NY. And these are IC guys! The defense is supposedly just smothering.

Hooray to Welchy for proclaiming more runs for Baez. That was the biggest thing the offense was missing.

A comment about my avatar Juvan. In the first half of the Fisher game his passes, though complete, were not very accurate. Even on screens receivers were reaching to places they shouldn't have had to to catch the ball. I've only seen him in two games now.... is this a trend, or was it big-game jitters? It is certainly a plus for the receiving corps the way they handled the first half at Fisher.

Gobombers... an argument handled like a gentleman.... but then you had to go pick Port! I just don't know who to believe anymore!

Just thought of this, when was the last time Ithaca had a losing season? I know Linfield has their 50 straight seasons, is Ithaca anywhere near that or what?

boobyhasgameyo

And so it is.  Post number 200.  So many people booby would like to thank for this......The people at Dell for making my computer.  My lousy guidance counselor that didn't even know my name and was partly responsible for my transient ways in college, landing me in places such as Cortland and Fisher, hence gaining the knowledge I have in d3football.  I'd like to thank me for taking the time to write these posts, it seem like it took forever.  God bless

Booby-

IC went 3-5 in 1969, Butterfield's third year as coach, with losses to a bunch of schools I've never heard of, but at least they beat Cortland! They also went 4-4 in 1970. So 37 straight, give or take. (Special thanks to Ithaca SID Mike Warwick for the media guide.)

Getting back to that Ithacan article...

Quote"It is pretty depressing when you hang out with the same three people every weekend drinking in your dorm," Donovan said about his experiences at Chattanooga.

Jeez, someone at the Ithacan needs to have a talk about quotes that make your players look bad. This is almost as bad as them quoting Nick Sottung last year saying "As long as I get a 2.0, that's all that matters."

Pat Coleman

Is the Ithacan a media outlet or a public relations newsletter? Quotes that make your players look bad, if they're fair, are fair game for real journalists.
