Just got back from the Ithaca game... a lousy turnout for the FDC, it was me, MIOH, and Tecmo. Edge (insane though he is) got the crowd going though.

Basically we killed Brockport but didn't look that good doing it. I heard Lynch was out because he broke some team rule or something and the coach said he is benched for "at least" a week. Jeez, did Rocco catch him with his daughter or something?

Our running game was quite mediocre, Donovan did nothing save for his touchdown run; Baez had a little more luck but neither really broke free in any big way. Baez had a nice run in the 2nd quarter though.

Just made the short trip home...best tailgate yet this year..we had the B-Port Homecoming stage & band, amusement rides and of course the "W" to celebrate around.....

Juvan still looks ok, he can really make a pass downfield when he wants to, and when he has time, which is a huge issue. TWO blocked punts and a blocked FG plus countless sacks.... Our OL seems to be a big weakness this year.

Big day for the receivers... Juvan has a crush on oertel and Gordon, but when he throws it elsewhere he can make progress... Bostic had a BIG reception up the middle in the third.

Our defense, in my opinion, was shaky at best, even with Blumenauer back. Yes, you can point to Stephens' three interceptions, which were all great, but that and some outstanding rushing by Byers were pretty much it. (Oh, and a highlight reel pick by the boy.... you should be proud Mr. N!)

Even though we were up big at the half, the defense let B-Port's crappy offense and REALLY crappy QB march down the field. I'm sorry, the stats look good, but B-Port handed us the game when they were on offense. Turnover after turnover, bad passing, nothing that indicated to me that our secondary was getting any better.

Overall, it's what we needed. Some confidence and a win that looks good. We need to start looking a lot better as a team if we are going to make/go anywhere in the playoffs.

Just some quick thoughts.....

Both lines proved that they are very athletic and really outplayed much bigger opponents both ways..

D-line pressure lead to some great turnovers and they pressured the QB most of the day...pick a number/name Celeste, Byers...and on and on.....nice game all of you....

O-line gave the "J-gun" offense most all of the time he wanted to set up and pick out a WR....still wondering about who he should be checking off to ala Jamie Free...
KG needs the ball at least three -five more touches....it looked as if DJ could have just "chucked" it downfield at will.....

MIOH...good call..we need to master "the dive".......this week!

Stephens IC record three picks.....welcome back! "Blow -em up Bluemenauer"......makes all the LB's better....

You could see the swagger return as soon as they scored the first touchdown.....looked like the Bombers of last week-first half.....still working at getting to where we nned to be to make a run in the playoffs.....Norwich in VT, bye week, ......Utica at Butterfield, Springfiled at Butterfield....

Edge was HUGE.....FDC had a light turnout, but we really need them back in town for UC, Springfield and Alfred....oh yeah, and tha CORTACA thing.....

Amazing how much better this feels.....

Getting Baaaaack to where we belong....

Hard to believe the Fisher game was only a week ago, ain't it? That one will sting for a while.

Just went to the Half....

SJF is up 30-9....

Fisher has had the ball for only 8 minutes in the first half and has 30 points!

Wick is having huge issues with their special teams and giving SJF really short fields....

Robinson has 5 carries for 80yds and 2 tds....

Kramer is 10-11 110yds and 2tds....

theoriginalupstate

So far Wick had a snap go over a punters head and SJF took over at the 5, Kramer threw a td on the next play to his TE Harmon (Harmon's 4th TD of the season)....

Wicks Lindy Crea ran for a 60yd TD but SJF blocked the EP and took it back for 2....

Fisher had an 80 yd punt return to the 5 yard line and Robinson took it in the next play...

Fisher got another short field and Kramer threw another TD on a play action pass...

Wick kicked a FG w/ 55 seconds left in the first half and then SJF ran a nice hurry up offense led by Kramer and Nowicki to set up a Robinson TD run w/ 9 seconds left in the half....

Fisher will get the ball when the 2nd half starts soon....

theoriginalupstate

SJF gets the ball back in the 2nd half and Kramer drives them down the field and throws a 31 yd TD on a 4th down play.....

37-9

57-16 Final at SJF....

ok.........so i have been saying all season.....cortland just does not blow people out....they take their starters out early (start of 4th Q as opposed to IC who leaves em in till the last minute......plus they do not have the IC exploseive O).....but now im looking at it and rowan won by 7.........is the bottom of the NJAC that much better then the bottom of E*? im not saying either way I just wanna know peoples thoughts........

Jonny Utah

Cstate, I acutually think Cortland plays down to the bottom of the NJAC while they step up in big games.  Overall the bottom of the NJAC is better than the bottom of the E8 I would say though.

cstate19

I agree with you Utah.......but this isnt a strictly Cortland question........this is an overall league vs. league question....cite Willy P over Rowan last year...rowan's close call today......i mean Keane has some TALENTED skill position players........just horrible line......is the bottom of NJAC better or worse then bottom of E8.......

cstate19

OR is it just different styles of play? E8- more offensive minded........i dunno? just want opinions

I'd agree with that....

You cant get much worse than Hartwick, Norwich and sometimes Utica (depends on what team you get)...

However, you could make the argument that the E8's top 4 teams (SJF, IC, AU, SC) are collectively better than the NJAC's top 4 (RU, Cort, Mont, Kean)

theoriginalupstate

Fisher scored 23 points in the first quarter despite controlling the ball for less than three minutes.

That tells you just how bad Hartwick is....
