Just got back from Rochester

A)Fisher is the real deal
B)Mark Robinson is one of the best running backs I've seen there were times where it looked like the entire d-line was gonna get him and he cut back and broke one for a long carry
C)from what I heard mark was close to breaking the schools all time rushing record if he was indeed close the coaches should be ashamed for not letting him break it at home
D) Albany Conquest of the AFL2 were there scouting several Fisher players, Including robbie
and last but not least e) that blocked extra point was really impressive, but the long snapper was having serious issues he Sky rocketed that ball and they were luckey that the holder was able to get his hands on it except for the fact that it got blocked and returned
and oh ya F) the Hartwick quater back can move but they need more weapons on more than one ocasion he was running from one sideline to another trying to find somebudy open
and finally G)Rob Kramer can throw the ball and will be a very efficant qb

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Ithaca guys, we can't be complaining about the lack of protection from the O-Line on one hand, and then complain about the lack of throwing downfield on the other. In order to throw downfield, the QB needs protection. The two are quite co-dependant.

Anyways, good win yesterday, no matter how we got it. There are no pictures in the win column. Hopefully, we can avoid the upsets against Alfred and Springfield. That would make Cortaca quite interesting, especially if both teams have one loss and each team may be playing for its season.

New to the board, don't want to start off on the wrong foot, but would an Ithaca loss to Alfred or Springfield be that much of an upset? I mean in theory yea Alfred or SC beating Ithaca is an upset, but the way this season has been going Alfred and Springfield both seem pretty good.  Based off stats of course, haven't been able to make it to a game with any of the top 4.

Fisher
Ithaca
Springfield
Alfred

Just curious what everyone thinks.

It's been my long experience at Alfred that since Alex retired after the '76 season, anytime that AU beats Ithaca, it is considered an upset. Alex's boys went about .500 with Butterfield's Bombers. To their credit, the legendary coaches' final meeting ended in a 3-3 tie in 1976 at South Hill Field.

Since then, anytime the  Saxons beat Ithaca, it is cause for much celebration (at the end of the season). I don't consider Ithaca a "rival" ...the Bombers are more accurately considered by AU as a nemesis.

I would consider losing to Alfred a pretty big upset, since they haven't beat Ithaca in any recent history.

Springfield is likely playing a team in a foot of snow, with guys having their ankles tied together.  You just don't know what's going to happen.  If a team can figure out how to stop the option, it should be a win.. If not though....

My thoughts from yesterday:

The game reminded me of the Bombers from the Brian Young era.  Solid, though not spectacular on offense.  Tough on defense, especially in the red zone.  Just a solid, workmanlike victory.

Juvan is starting to see the field a bit better, go through his different options as far as receivers go.  Offensive line sprung a couple of big plays against a very good Brockport D-Line.

Defense was big.  The return of Blumenauer and Stephens was obviously huge.  D-Line had more penetration than I remember in years.  Q. Kiah looked great in his first start.

Special teams is rough.  Two blocked punts, and two blocked field goals. Something must change.

Gridiron Report Report:

Coach was thrilled with the defense.  "Hats off" to Charlie Stephens and his three interceptions.  Was really pleased with Q. Kiah, in what he called a "great performance in his first start". WR's are running some great routes.

Two blocked punts is "unacceptable".

Charlie Stephens was a no brainer as player of the week. Stephens spent most of the time sucking up to the D-Line.  Switched to 3-4 didnt change much for him (not the brightest of questions announcer guy).  Kind words for Jason Cheir who seems to be slowing taking over the second CB slot.  No talk about the Fisher game, in which Stephens was ineligible for breaking team rules.

My karma takes a two-point hit for that comment? NICE! It seems that either a) we have officially entered the "Say anything that could conceivably be construed as anti-Ithaca and you will pay for it" phase of the season, or b) the LL guys have had enough of Bombsaway and they're hammering everyone's karma. Either way, good times all around.

Secondly, Tecmo, we can't just be brushing off this Alfred team. Sure, we can make the "they have never beat us" argument until we're blue in the face. However, for that matter, Fisher had never even given us a close game (don't tell me 30-20 at Fisher was a close game when it was 30-3 with 9 mins left) when they should have upset us at Butterfield in 2003. I think it could be a painful lesson if IC rolls into Merrill Field thinking they can play a bad game and walk out with a win.

Luckily, I think the Bombers come to play every week.

I'll give you one back for that. Thought it was an astute observation.

If Bombers Merrill(y) roll into Alfred thinking they can play a bad game and walk out with a win, AUPepBand will be very surprised. Bombers seldom take AU lightly, or so it seems. But if they want to think about the next week's Cortaca, it's okay with AUPepBand. Meanwhile, the Saxons have some business to take care of on the road the next three weeks.

Tecmo, Stephens is right to praise the hog mollies.  He doesn't want byers to steal his lunch money.

Gobombers, karma is gone like a fart in the wind around here.  Don't speak and it still disappears.  Thank god kharma isn't the have all to end all.
