bware,

There is alot of speed on defense, it is more the scheme.  Blumenhaur use to be a saftey, terlicki is fast, the middle backers are active and we have good d ends.  When everyone gets comfy it will work out, usually takes at least the first 4 - 5 weeks to pick up a scheme

Jose I thought last year I heard that we recruited speed on defense- haven't heard anything on that front- are these guys playing jv

I have to admit that my knowledge of the JV team is pretty weak at best.  The only recruit I heard anything about was Grastorf, the QB from Nisky.  Tecmo would be better at evaluating what kind of defensive speed we brought in.  I am going to stick with my earlier post and B27's comment.  We may be faster on defense right now just not showing it as we are not comfortable in our new scheme yet.  Or, we may not be faster.  I am going to withhold judgment on that front for a few weeks.

Dubbz, not just blue lights, yellow jackets

With Norwich and Utica upcoming, will we get some looks at Grastorf late in games? As much as it would be great to see that, I just want to see Juvan get as many snaps as humanly possible... he's looking better and more comfortable every game, and I want him as comfortable as possible down the stretch.

But how would that make Ashkar (and, more importantly, his crazily defensive girlfriend that almost killed Jose at the hartwick game for saying he shouldn't be starting) feel?

I'm sorry a Qb from Nisky playing at Ithaca is like Kramer starting for the Colts, I live near Nisky and Nisky football is like well hartwick and Utica football

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Where's the kid who has some friends on the Bombers JV team?  I believe Grastorf was supposed to get the start at Brockport this weekend.

I think bowler maybe joking but in my 4 years, no one was pulled up from jv to start a game.  Maybe Dane Hewlett but not to start.  It is such a big jump from jv to varsity.

Didn't Baez come up midway through his first year?  Esposito moved up for the Cortland game his Freshman year as well, I do believe.

I am sure Tecmo means Grastorf was supposed to be starting for the JV.

Superman: There is some video of this kid online that Tecmo provided us with this summer.  He looks really talented but time will tell.

Max: I merely said that I would rather have seen some of the much-hyped Grastorf during garbage time against Hartwick than Ashkar.  Even through the Jim Beam-related haze, Ashkar looked like a serviceable backup that, as a senior, I suppose deserved the snaps.

Not only did Espo move up just for the Cortland game but he was outstanding that afternoon.

Yeah, Brian was supposed to start the JV game this week.

Again, my feel is that there is some allegiance to Ashkar, at least as the backup.  He's been a very energetic, support the troops kind of guy every time I've seen him.

It would be good to see Grastorf at some point though.  Everything coming out of camp pointed to people being incredibly impressed.  Certainly Juvan has been solid, outside of some moments at Fisher.  My hunch is that you'll see Grastorf start a bunch of JV games, get some time against Norwich and maybe Utica.  Then, an open competition for the QB spot next fall.

Espo was great in that game and through out the rest of the year but he was with us the whole time, he may have played a few jv games but he was up with the squad, just like baez.  There are always a few players that don't get much burn on varsity so they get a few games on jv.  They were invited to camp(the last few years everyone came in, unlike my first three years) which makes them varsity players

A fair point though it seems we are arguing semantics.  Grastorf has been on the Varsity roster all season and was in camp this fall per Tecmo.

bomber27

Your right, it is semantics, but everyone gets invited to camp now.  That is all I am saying.  It is open casting now, use to be by invite
