So, no one gets cut in Bomberland??? they get demoted to JV?

bomberbware

If you are right with the demoted to JV comment it must be very de motivating for any top recruit- the real question is who they are since no one knows anything about the JV anyway (exception Grastorf)

Chier is only getting better with more playing time, Lieber gets some time to "get back on track."  I think what makes me the optimist here.....(other than the CB wearing #31)...is the fact that they travel up to Norwich, bye week, Utica...three weeks to get healthy, get the 3-4 system down pat......

Mr. N. you raise a good point we have all looked past (at least I have looked past and no one else has raised in discussion).  The defense is still learning this 3-4 system.  The lack of team speed may be a reflection of uncertainty in assignments.  As the players get more comfortable with their roles on defense, the team speed should increase.  Right?

Jose......I think most of the guys on here that played will agree that the scheme and what the players are capable of in the scheme make a huge difference....given the two missing starters on "D" at SJF and then the changes at CB at B-port....I still don't think these guys have peaked....
As of Norwich......hopefully we can say ...
                                                            "we're jellin'...."
On Grastorf...my vote is get Thayer as many snaps as possible....just in case we need a back up.....Grastorf was a stud in Albany area in High School.....as were most of the bombers in their respective schools, cities & leagues.....he has all the tools....

I do however agree that camp next year is way off......we still have a ways to go before the playoffs start.....let's worry about a healthy final five games....then playoffs

What is Norwich all about this year??.....last time up (two years back) we faced 1200 cadets, cannons and the stud who moved on to Union.....I remember Jamie Free catchin' a nice ball for a TD right in front of me....small tight stadium.....

It has to be a challenge to go from being the "star" back "home" to joining so many gifted athletes at IC...Fisher and B-port, Cortland, Rowan, Alfred, etc.  I'm sure every player adjusts differently to the higher level of play and at differing rates....

And I quote  ".....everybody gets an opportunity to prove themselves......"

Indeed.  All the freshman are listed down at the bottom of the roster before the season starts.  Then, about a week before the season a few of them are moved up and given numbers on the varsity roster.  At the start of this year, only about five or six Freshman were listed on the roster... though a few have been added since then.

I'm a little surprised there's not more on the Ithaca website about the JV team.  Just a schedule and results would be nice.  Would probably be good for the ego of some kids too, who are working their way up to the varsity squad.

techmo and Mr. N you make valid points here it must be a big adjustment for some to come from the top of a program and then play JV but i guess that is D 3

I'm just saying that Niskayuna is not known for producing football talent recently now they do have some very talented players Andre Davis of the bills was a graduate, but football is not the big sport is Nisky that would be Lacrosse

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Don't say LaCrosse too loudly...we want to keep Mr. Grastorf busy at football.......

Did I read correctly that Eric Ferguson had a couple tackles in the Brockport game?  From soccer goalie, to backup kicker, to safety?  What position did he play Saturday?

What did Jose say that made Ashkar's gf so angry? I wonder if, when he comes home from practice, they commiserate about the two-hopper Juvan threw in practice that day and how Ashkar should be the starter. Jose, beware of Bomber gf's, I think I made Kittenplon's girl mad at me last year on this board.

Early Prediction

Bombers  40
Norwich    12

Personally, I'm surprised there is no MySpace page yet for the FDC.

Mr. N.  We are actually way ahead of you.  There were some back room discussions regarding a Bomber Football website.  Problem is, everyone is too busy and the discussions took place during the first week of the season.  Will be JoseQ's offseason project...if there is time.

GB15: Jose didn't really say anything.  His dear friend Jim Beam may have said something that would get a girlfriend riled up.  It wasn't anything profane, just wanted to see Grastorf...that's all.  Probably would have been better left unsaid.
