If the Cubs don't hire Girardi, I may give up on my beloved team...

at least until April.

I can't imagine someone as qualified as him will stay on the market too long...just a bad situation with him not getting along with owners/management.  He would be a good fit, just about anywhere....in the long run, he'll probably make more money and end up in a better place because he got fired.

I predict Torre retires after the season and Girardi gets that job.

I wish I could give Karma... stupid website from last year losing my 173 posts... anyways.. + Imaginary K to Jose.. that signature made me laugh and drew attention from the boss in regards.

hhhmmmm..... didn't even consider that.

Do you really think thats possible?  I'm in NY and haven't seen/heard anything that would imply that could be in the works.  That being said, it sort of makes sense....if he wants to get involved in the mess that is working for Steinbrenner.

Dubbz, you don't get demoted or cut.  Most who can't cut it realize and quit.  The rest are there.  If you play a game on jv when you are on the varsity, you are not demoted, just game action

I was with icdubbz at a coaching convention in January, listening to Girardi speak, wishing he was the coach of the Cubs....

Meanwhile Dubbz was running around trying to find free magnet necklaces, so he could feel drunk, watching baseball players speak who he's never heard of.

Only if the Yanks win the Series will Torre retire. Even then, I don't think it's a guarantee. I'm with Tecmo, I think he is Chicago-bound. I think the Giants will pursue, as well, but Girardi wants to play in a city that is rabid about baseball and he is a former Cub, if my memory serves me correctly.

If Girardi does get swooped up and Torre does retire, I think the Yanks will hire either Mazzilli (who basically got fired for one long losing streak in Baltimore after many thought he was one of the up-and-coming managers) or Mattingly.

The rumor in baseball circles forever was that Torre had chosen Willie Randolph as his successor which is why Randolph turned down so many managerial jobs to stay with the Yankees.  When the Mets offered, he couldn't say no.  As a result Torre apparently chose Girardi as his successor.  When the job opened up in Miami, Torre sent Girardi down there to get experience on the understanding that Torre would manage three more year (length of Girardi's contract in Miami) and then walk away.  Now I wonder if this puts things in motion earlier than expected.

TRUE STORY!!!  they had necklaces that made you feel drunk!  you will see the Big Unit wearing one when he pitches.  a few others aroudn the league also wear it.  that thing was too strong for me!  http://www.phitenusa.com/accessories01.htm there it is!

B27, it must have been tough getting into your room at night with that line out Barron's door congesting the hallway... (Im basing these comments on her reputation of which I was made aware during my time at IC, though she did wake me up in a T9 hallway at 8am my sophmore year.. and I lived in T6 at the time, so I thank her for that)

Yellowhat, I'm still working on those DVD's you were interested in ... it's a slow process friend

speaking of said DVD's, tecmo, might need some commentary from you on one of those..I pull for those cubbies all the time, I just hope my mets don't lay an egg. go El Duque!

Kitenplon can eat it, there's a rule, if you can't kick an extra point, you can't get mad when people talk smack to your GF.  Conversely, if you can put down a 50 yarder, you wage jihad on anyone you want, Ithaca has to get a kicker if they ever want to go deep in the playoffs again, every good team has a guy that can hit a 40 yarder at least...

Bring back Sasaki!!! Bombsaway!

Girardi grew up in the midwest, went to Northwestern, came up with the Cubs... it would just make too much sense.

With that being the case, we will inevitably sign Jimy Williams instead, and make our big splash in the FA Market signing Torii Hunter to a six year contract.  The fans will still sell out Wrigley, and I will be living in this baseball hell for another decade.
