speaking of hitting, when was the last time IC had a full back that hit?? I mean the guy that was there when I graduated, I think he was number 27, always seemed to shy away from contact, FB is a position for a man for christ sake!

I wasn't at the game but I can imagine Brockport's home field isn't slop yet. The game on Saturday was their first home game of the season. So, it's proabably still in good shape. Come the end of the month and into November is when it will start to get messy. Though, a rainy Saturday and that field will be turned to slop instantly.

I remember announcing a playoff game there in 2002, Brockport against Springfield. The weather had been awful during the week and the field had already been torn up. It was like watching the frozen slop bowl and two ground-based offenses really struggled. I don't think Springfield moved the ball into Brockport territory once that day.

The next time Brockport could host, after upsetting Rowan, the game was moved to the U of R because Brockport's field was a mess. Hopefully one day they'll have field turf.

I'm going to go ahead an issue a "just messing with you" to B-27 since he has not replied.  It could already be too late as he may be driving down the 5-freeway from up north to LA to hand me a savage beating (which would probably be smiled upon by this forum)

As for brockport's field... it's named after a guy named BOOZER! Of course it's going to be sloppy! You can't have "Boozer Field" and have it well cut and properly drained, it just wouldn't be right...

Did I ever tell you guys about the time Boozer went to the circus?

Bombs, I thought it was funny.  i may actually give you a kharma point.

I know nothing about boozer or his field, thought it was just special olympic stadium.

By the way, it is down the 5 to LA and im in bakersfield so get ready, lol

bombsaway

Bakersfield?? Wow, why did i think you were in sacramento? I have less time than I thought to get your picture out to lot security...

It is special olympics stadium but the field is named after some guy named Bob boozer who friends of mine during our time at IC like to reminise about even though we didn't know the guy, but if you know what kind of town brockport is, then you figure in a guy named Bob Boozer, sky is the limit

Man, I wasn't even there the day where you guys did all the Boozer stories (2003 playoff game), but you guys must have been talking about the guy the entire day. I've heard at least six or seven Bob Boozer stories in my day. Alright, time to get some dinner with Pat McGee. You know Pat McGee. Me and Pat McGee, Pat McGee.
A 2004 graduate of the "almighty legendary" Ithaca College. Goooooo Bombers.

I am in Sacramento, already in bakersfield, actually i am in the rural areas of 5 now so you have less time

I just hope my mets don't lay an egg. go El Duque!

Sounds like he tweaked his calf and is questionable.  Really wish I had tenure so I could just watch the game tomorrow for the last two periods while the kids worked on dittos or something.  I'm just happy that Houston didn't make it, as I really didn't want to face them.

Bob Boozer was 94 years old, died of Cancer a couple days ago...Can't you give it a break already?

Some real information about him...

In the first half of the 20 th century, the students of what was then the Brockport State Teachers College continually lobbied the administration for a football team, writing letters and staging rallies. It took several years, but their efforts finally paid off. In the fall of 1947, the Golden Eagles began to play football under their new coach, a man from Dubois, Pennsylvania, who would become known as the Father of Brockport football.

That fall, Bob Boozer began a tradition at the College. He took men who had just come off the battlefields of World War II and enrolled as students at the College and turned them into a solid football team. The program grew under his respected leadership. He led the Golden Eagles for 13 years. His 1957 team went 4-2-1, the first winning season in school history, and set several defensive school records that stood for nearly half a century. That squad included three All-Americans: Phil Ciarico (1958), Bill Linkner (1959), and Leo Torre (1957 and 1958).

In the fall of 2002, after a fund-raising campaign spearheaded by his former players, the field at the College's Special Olympics Stadium was named "Bob Boozer Field."

Boozer also coached the hugely successful track and field team for more than 20 seasons, leading Brockport to two of the first three SUNYAC men's outdoor titles, and was a staff member in the Department of Physical Education and Sport from 1947 to 1979.

That from the Brockport Website.

Only song AUPepBand has written is the Saxon fight song (actually a rewrite of the original which was rather dated). AUPepBand likes thinking about the Saxons these days, particularly with their offensive production of the past two weeks. Defense looked great Saturday. Norwich will need to do something different or they will be embarrassed in front of the home crowd at Sabine Field Saturday. Oops....that should be Saterday. Sorry, MIYH.

I can't let Alfred get the last word!  Just got back from the local pub where I watched "the other team" in NY get a fairly impressive playoff win.

Go Mets!

Positive Cheers Only
