Haven't been to Olean in a while, but if you get there, one must stop is the Beef and Barrel restaurant, one of the best beef on wick I've had, and the german potato salad is great too

just before taking the alfred u. exit from state rte. 17 (I-86) there is a sign indicating that olean is 48 or 49 miles.

They have about 4 carving stations throughout the place so you know that your meat just came off the bone-I love that place, even make excuses once and a while to take the trip -bout an hour

thanks, I could have looked it up thought it was closer though.  Heard good things about the town

or oneonta, olean etc!!!

Right....never been to olean though.  How far is Alfred from there?

Olean...about 50 miles west of Alfred on I-86. You'll find the best roast beef dinner you've ever had at Olean's "Beef 'n' Barrel" on North Union Street.

OOPS...I guess I should have read those posts before posting this. Guess it confirms this place as one of the best!

Actually, the column was posted last night. It's available on the ATR page before there's a front page link because we don't update the front until we have a certain number of ATRs inside.

Another sunny morning in So. Cal....

B-27, I know all about pulling strings to put a roster together, I want to put myself in the running for GM of the year for the league I coach my company team... The things people will do in this town to sign up softball players is ridiculous, I'm going to start holding out for cash..

Orange, I don't know if Bob and Chugger will be able to make it, these days they charge quite an appearance fee that just isn't practical for a starving artists salary.  But that doesn't mean we can't honor them with stories...

I think Cornell would be a good place to host a D3 kickoff weekend, turf won't get torn up so you can have many games on one field, and it's a pretty central location... that campus is starved for good football..

Fisheralumn just really dated himself with a reference to '87 wow, we might have to organize a d3 message board bingo night for some of these posters!

It's technically Beef on Weck, named for the Kimmulweck bread that the roast beef comes on. You learn such interesting things reading about dining in Buffalo on the SW Airlines flight from Dallas to New Orleans.

I try to drop knowledge and I get smited. And when have I accused you of mincing words? It wasn't me who was arguing about proper English and misspellings yesterday, FA91.

if I was FA91's age I would be a lot nicer to people knowing judgement day is only one salty, fatty, beef on weck away from happening

I'm new to the boards (but have been reading them for a while).  I thought I'd introduce myself.  I'm an AU grad who was one of the original kazoo players with AUPepBand when we restarted that program 10 years ago.  I moved back to Alfred last year and now work for the other school - SUNY Alfred.

Welcome aboard, AUKaz00! You game for a trip to Utica Saturday? Got a tuba, a trumpet, a drummer on board thus far. Will be the band'sfirst appearance at Utica...always play the Pioneers on Mid-Semester Break.

Perhaps Post Patterns will help fill the void in your life left by the Yanks' early departure from the playoffs.

Probably not gonna happen.  The Mrs. is working on her pottery, so I've got the little guy and he gets cranky without his afternoon nap.  Oh, and I'm going down to Jersey next weekend, so the flight to Maine is out for me as well.  I'll be at Merrill on the 28th for Hobart though - with my kazoo and BANDana!
