you know what dubbz? i realized that typo and didnt think it would be a big deal.......shoulda known better.......thanks for the heads up.....+k to you!

maxpower

Hey you asked for some razzing. I don't know much about Cortland, it's easier to pick apart Fisher.

cstate19

thanks max........the razzing i like.......the post about the schedule i strongly disagree with

maxpower

Yeah i goofed in that and chalked buff st. up as a non-conference game without thinking. Your non-conference schedule is certainly no weaker than ours.... and I think we know that the biggest challenge for both teams will come on the same day.

cstate19

excellent post max.........peace on the matter

I actually think the key to this year's jug will be that it is played in Cortland, and that falls in the Bombers' favor. When Ithaca plays at home, they are in blue uniforms, and the Cortland offense are experts at running from the men in blue.

Now thats funny right there i dont care who y'ah are!

I bet during the half time kick line this year the security will be 100 men in uniform along the bomber side line to 5 along the cortland line.

The Cortland defense will also probably struggle to figure out who has the ball on running plays since they have never actually seen the front of Jamie Donovan's white jersey....They do know what it looks like as it gets smaller in the distance.

maxpower,

earlier when i said both cortland and fisher are better than Ithaca it was because of several reasons.  First, I believe Fisher is better than Ithaca simply because they beat them 34-10.  I know Ithaca is better than the score and if they meet again it will be a close game for sure.  IC was missing a couple key defensive players and I know this made a difference.  I believe Cortland is better than Ithaca simply because they have an experienced quarterback in Alex Smith.  This is the only reason I give the edge to Cortland.  BUT Smith got hurt last week and if he isn't back for Cortaca I might give the edge to Ithaca.

How do u think IC and Cortland match up??

Joseqviper,

sorry if I offended you earlier.  My comments were directed at all IC fans when only one IC fan made the statement "Fisher is not the real deal."  I overreacted so i apologize.  I'm just very loyal to the cardinals they way you guys are loyal to IC.  Hopefully we will meet again in the NCAA tourney.  Gotta go back to work se ya'll later.

I put their offenses at rather equal, but the defensive favor has to go to Cortland. Ithaca's defense can be either great or terrible, and while the great may be enough to stop cortland, it's not a guarantee, especially compared to Cortland's top-qual D.

I don't know... it's almost useless to talk about how they match up going into Cortaca, which is a complete toss-up every year, except of course for 2004 when Ithaca beat the hell out of Cortland.

As Bob Boozer might once have said "judging a team before seasons end is no different then trying someone for murder before they commit the crime...Now pour me another scotch on the rocks!" - Boozer, 1976

Bob is right, we can sit here all day and all week (which we do) and talk about who is proven and who is not.  All you can do is beat who you play and when all the dust settles we see who had a better season.  IC, we had our chance to beat Fisher, we didn't, so here's hoping we advance further in the post season and maybe even get another shot at them.  Until then, as much as it pains me, they are the better team.  And cortland looks pretty strong too, but it's who wins the jug that determines who is the better team.  It's not based on who had a good half, or a bad half of a game, it's the season gentlemen, it's the season.

I agree with Bombsaway, the raw emotion in this game make sit hard to really figure who is going to win.  When I was in it, we had great teams go in and loose and then we had lesser teams go in and win.  It is a crap shoot.  While the cortland defense may be better during the season, they might not be able to handle pressure and there fore would be gashed by our running attack and vise versa with Smith and the arial attack.  Ergo, mombs and boozer are right and we should talk smack freely yet not judge till seasons end.  Oh and IC still has two big games prior to this so maybe we should focus on those.  I know they are

Jose...you rule......

Let's get Utica in and play the way we should....one game at a time....doesn't matter what any of the other teams really do. We have the unique opportunity to play three teams that stand between us and a return trip to the NCAA's.....and the team that suits up this weekend at Butterfield, (budcrew--NO you cannot play!!) is all that matters this "Saterday."

The rest has to be a plus.....and if their is any "rust" it's gone by the first "Terlecky smack-down...or Bluemenauer BLOW UP".....Run the ball and play Defense....and Pioneers-throw the damn ball Saterday!

...everything will take care of itself.....

To Paraphase, yes it is the end of the season that seperates the men from the boys.

However, it is the week to week results that bring the excitement and the passion to D3 football.  Upsets can happen and when they do. it is all the more exciting.
