I would also say that I would rank Springfield ahead of Cortland...They are just simply unstoppable!  As for Springfield vs. cortland, you may just get your wish down the line.

Cortland fans don't fret, it will eventually be proved on the field.

so if you havent seen em you prolly shouldnt make predictions about em

Cortland being #2 in rushing defense last year doesn't really mean much in 2006 I wouldn't imagine.

Cortland looks to be a strong team, but I'm telling you that Springfield will run all over anyone they play.

I didn't buy the hype either, but after watching them today I wouldn't go against them.

The no Defense part holds weight though, I'll give you that. If you think you can keep up with them scoring wise I agree you'd have a shot.

Well as an alum of the school that has played both the teams, I made my statement...but like tags mentioned...Springfield MUST do better on the defense, it could be too much of a fatal flaw to overcome.

#2 defense last year means a whole heck of a lot when you return just about everyone.........and yea the no D arguement holds up..........

xdragon58

hey, i am taking nothing away from that springfield team, i played agaisnt them many times, and have seen how they run that offense to perfection.....but as always the case, they allow points, if you can force turnovers (i.e. colrtland 5 pics today, 7 sacks) and keep up with them u will win....
No matter where we go, it's about who we are.......C-STATE!!!!!!!!

i agree with cstate, the #2 means the world when u return all of your starters but 1 or 2 plus as they are finaly starting to put it all together once again, and just in time to make a serious run lets hope

Pics and sacks don't matter against Springfield they don't hardly pass

I've been wondering:  what is the 3 way tiebreaker for the conference title in the E8?  I looked on the FAQ page on d3football.com, and to that question it just says look at your own conference's rules as they each have different rules.  So I looked on the E8's website and found nothing!

In any case, I guess nothing is decided yet.  If Fisher can take care of Utica as it should, then it will all come down to the final week at Alfred.  A convincing win at Alfred, who appears to be no slouch this year, would be a good one to end the year for sure.  Also, I noticed that on the Quality of Wins page that is linked to at d3football.com, Fisher and Springfield are both high on the list, while Ithaca is way down there.  I'm not sure how significant that is though, as Ithaca obviously has played 1 less game.  Still, even if d3football.com doesn't use that index toward its rankings, the NCAA does, and that's what counts I guess.  I'm getting ahead of myself though.  Every team that's in the race still has some tough games left.  Heck, Alfred could maybe even get in, though I don't know how good they really are as I know almost nothing about them.

sacks dont matter????

xdragon58

how can you say they dont matter, sacks are huge for field postion, which u need to beat an offensive power house such as them, and i know they dont throw the ball much, but its the fact that you will have to create turnovers to beat them......do they play IC this year, when and where is that game?

next week..........look out IC

Wow so I just got back.......

Sharpe makes me cry he is so good

Not seeing one defensive stop outside of a fumble is the most frustrating thing I have endured this year

I will not say another word about Alfred because that is no gimmie, however I will mention that it will be nice to play defense against a conventional offense again.

Xdragon - 5 interceptions and 7 sacks means little against a QB that throws no more than 5 times a game and is a master at running with broken plays so good luck doing either against him.

If we win out and still lose the AQ I would think we would get an at large bid.  I still believe this team can do damage in the playoffs and the Fisher defense is just better suited for conventional offenses.  We could not stop that stuff, wow wow wow.

Not against a team that throws 3 times a game. Not really apples to apples there.
