Here's some E8 food for thought as we approach the stretch run:

Hartwick @ IC   14-44
              @ SJF  16-57
              vs AU  21-41

Norwich  vs IC   7-44
              vs SJF 0-32
              @ AU  13-48

Utica       @ SC   7-41
              vs AU  3-24
              @ IC   7-33

Brockport vs IC  7-26
               vs SJF 20-27
               @SC   3-27

SC           vs AU  41-34
               @ SJF 55-38

SJF          vs IC   34-10

From the results season-to-date, it really looks like all four teams are very evenly matched and it'll come down to execution in each remaining matchup.

GOOD MORNING BOYS!

Well we hve quite the week of football ahead of us!  With all this chaos about 3 way champs, grass field, and weather, we are in store for a dream match up SC vs IC.  This game has so much on the line everyone within a 120 mile radius that is a D3 fan should be there!  with that said Dubbz will be on the road heading north for a mandatory lady dubbz request.

Now, Dubbz thoughts on this upcoming Springfield game.  The Bombers are going to roll into this game with a full head of steam, anger, as will Springfield.  Springfield has just beaten the "real deal"  SJF team. They will be coming in pumped!  Therefore, like in 'Two for the Money', we cant make our predictions on MONDAY!  But, the weather in I-town is GARBAGE this week with possible snow!  The Bomber offense has JUVON and Springfield has the other kid. :) . Juvon, can throw, Sharpe, well i know nothing about his arm.  Therefore I am giving the offensive advantage to the Bombers.  (simply because i have seen them play and have not springfield)  The air attack will be KEY!  Hopefully AIR WELCH will arrive this saterday and we can stop this 5 yard dump pass $%*^!  Man that drives me and other Bomber faithful CRAZY!! throw downfield!

Flash, Lumpy, Mrs. Flash, Mrs. Bam,  Thank you for the awesome weekend! family and friends were very impressed and are looking forward to holding down Dubbz spot Saterday!

Frostbite 3.9 outta 5.... Beef stew, 10 outta 10!!... Halloween costumes OFF THE CHARTS!

Slow down dubbz, you gotta start reading the board a little before you post. No way IC has the offensive advantage in this game. IC's offense has been inconsistent, and Springfield's has been unstoppable. Also by all accounts, Sharpe has a very good arm, not that he uses it much, and if IC wants to stay in the game they should focus on ball control and first downs, not the long ball.

Jose,

I have seen Springfield play over the past 6 years.  Sylvia was a heck of a QB and Judd was solid, but neither of them put as much pressure on a defense as Sharpe.

I am willing to concede this point.  My earlier post was not meant to question his ability.  My point was those other guys were really good.  Sharpe may be better, but is he so much better that he can change the equation in this series.  Welch and his staff have really done a nice job against the SC attack.  Sure it will be harder, but 13-3 at Butterfield against SC is nothing to sneeze at.  I should amend that, 8-3 against the current SC coach.  Still.

My question is this.  If the weather is as bad as is being reported, that will make both offenses inconsistent.  Let's face it, regardless of your system, footballs are hard to hold onto in the mud...right?

Bill McCabe

It is tough for a team to defend a good triple option attack if they only have 2 or 3 days of practice to prepare.  Are there other teams in the E8 that run the triple option?  The weather can slow down the triple option.  If it is bad, make Sharpe give up the ball.

I know the cliche about how many weeks to take at a time but, I have to believe that a good part of the bye week was spent working against the veer.  They'd be crazy to spend two weeks to prepare for UC with SC on the horizon.

Bill McCabe

Even 2 weeks isn't very long to prepare for the veer.  From what I have read on the board, stopping Sharpe is the key.  Make him pitch.  Is the weather going to be bad?

WOW - took over an hour to try to catch up on the weekends posts....I apologize ahead of time because I assume this will be a little convoluted.

1)  Tags, glad you're on board now for the Springfield "system"
2)  I don't think anyone from IC is assuming the bombers will beat sfield, most posts have been hypothetical for our ideal ending.
3)  I think the grass (and possibly weather) will have an effect this weekend, but 'gro put it best....Butterfield is the best advantage for the Bombers.
4)  I also think that Johnny Utah hit the nail on the head in that Ithaca has seen this option for years.  I would assume Coach Welch started laying the defensive groundwork in the bye week and some this past week.  Not that IC would have looked past UC, but using the bye and an easier opponent to their adavantage.
5)  Saterday is gonna be one for the ages (I hope)

also - Cstate fans, while I think Cortland is a great team (possibly better than Springfield or on par with them) but I would assume they'll be behind them in most polls.  All this means it, polls are always subjective and really don't mean much.

realistic

Bill - I think this is where Ithaca being very familiar with Springfield will come in handy.  Obviously this only means the Bomber D will have to execute to perfection, but I think they are most equipped to handle it because of seeing the system every year.

Looks like highs in the 40s all week.  Rain or snow every day.  Around 40 on SatErday with rain.

Hmm, why did I move back to Tampa again....?

realistic

hahaha - come on, part of you misses Ithaca weather.....
