TGP can't take criticism?

This clearly is an opportunity to utilize TGP's liberal arts education to stop and get to know TGP's inner P!

Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
TGP has been zinged by some of the best post patterns has to offer.  TGP has been posting on the boards since 2003 (under many different handles) and has been ribbed by all comers.  TGP never takes anything personally posted here.

However, TGP prolly can tell you why TGP over-reacted.  Something about certain IC comments that gets TGP all fired up.  Kind of like a when TGP (a life long Red Sox fan) gets ribbed by TGP's best friend (a Yankees fan).  TGP's inner Sox fan can take it to an extent, but certain statements are going to set TGP off every time.

You see, to TGP, IC is like the NYY of Upstate NY - always been loaded with talent and success.  Problem is, the rest of the leagues have caught up with (and in several cases surpassed) them and all the while IC (and their fans) insist they are still the shizz and all the teams that keep getting better still don't amount to s*** compared to them.

As exhausted BA may be from hearing the "over-hype" about Alfred, try and put yourself in the shoes of a former player/fan/alumni of schools like Alfred (or SJF, Hobart, whatever) who have been told they suck and will always suck by IC for the last 20 years (even after they beat IC - in some cases, pretty badly)?

There's a difference between smack and continuing to perpetrate disrespect.

Ok, TGP needs to return to self-meditation to find his "chi".  Or is it medication?  Maybe both?!?!?

TGP, please dont EVER compare Ithaca football to the New York Yankees ever ever again.  Thanks.

For once, I agree with FA91's comments about bombs away's comments.

Nevertheless, onto football, I think it should be an interesting couple of weeks.  I do think that Springfield will beat Ithaca, however it will be very close.  The grass (and maybe slop) will make a difference.  A few years ago (I know the teams are different but it still may apply) when SPringfield played Brockport in the playoffs, they were only able to get 6 points on the board....I know they were the worst field conditions ever in the history of football but I think the same type of shut down could occur under the right conditions at Butterfield.

Frank Rossi posted this over on the LL board, and it certainly comes in handy:

For those wondering...The Empire 8 actually has a somewhat cogent tiebreaker.  From the League's SID, Tim Farrell:

The following criteria will be used to determine the E8's NCAA automatic qualifier:

(If a tie exists among three or more teams and one of the tied teams is eliminated by this process, the process will begin anew at No. 1 of the tie-breaking criteria among the remaining tied teams).

1. Head-to-Head results.

2. Results vs. lowest ranked conference teams (7th, 6th, 5th, etc) based on final season standings.

3. Results versus common non-league opponents

4. The team's overall quality of win index (as determined by the NCAA procedure used at the completion of the season)

5. Overall record

There's no way Butterfield could ever match the frozen slop that day at Brockport. That field was completely and utterly decrepid. But, you play football in the conditions you're given - whether it be rain, snow, sleet, freezing rain, wind, hail etc etc. I'm a fan of mud football and football played in slop, but the field that day was awful. Not much that Brockport could have done about it though. The weather was rotten all week and then it snowed the night before the game. And if I remember correctly, the field had been mostly torn up during the year so it wasn't in that great shape to begin with. Brockport caught a few breaks on special teams and their defense only let Springfield across mid-field twice in a 16-0 shutout.

Springfield's defense in 2002 was a lot better than the defense they have now. Sylvia and Judge were still emerging  and overall, the offense didn't have a lot of firepower as compared to the 2000 or 2003 playoff teams or this year's team. The defense was more of a force on that year. And when the offense didn't get going for SC against Brockport, that was all she wrote. I think this year's Springfield team is a lot like the 2003 team. Very good offense and so-so defense. The defense for SC will really need to be counted on against Ithaca and if they make the playoffs. The 2003 team went 10-0 but then bowed out of the playoffs to an explosive RPI team in a shootout. That RPI team would defeat Ithaca in the "Snow Bowl" East region final before losing to eventual national champion St. John's in the semifinals.

I'd back you up Max, but I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum - Fisher & Sox fan ... I'm sure that'll draw some pretty good commentary to take the heat off the IC talk...

You are right, I for some reason thought they had gotten 6 points, in the game and if I'm not mistaken Brockport had already played 5 games in a row at home leading up to that Springfield game.  More treacherous than the field, were the stands, where it seemed like you were ice skating trying to move anywhere.  That was interesting!
