Yes, thank you soooo much FA91 for giving me "exactly what I want", oh how I sat by my computer all afternoon waiting, and waiting for the harsh replies to come in.  Max once again shows his ability to be all knowing...

Here's the deal, when a fan base made up of Fisher students taunts an IC player, especially one who is a close friend, because he is of middle east heritage, yeah, I'm going to throw that back at them.  Max of all people I thought you would take exception to such an event given your history as an activist (not to mention the senate campaign)

FA91, you my friend, have been out of the game a loooooong time.  I'm not sure IC kids had even heard of fisher when you went there so you don't understand the "new" rivalry.  Put on your smoking jacket, sit by the fire, have a pipe, and pet your golden retriever.

And certainly FA91, don't throw the other IC guys in the mudd because of what I did during my college years WHICH, I might add, you have NO understanding of what we're even talking about.  I don't rest on the laurels of my college days though you seem to be very interested in them, we'll try to get the DVd's out to you ASAP.

Sounds like ur a pretty sensitive dude. Evidently there were some stupid remarks, but handle things like that with the individuals who said them. Don't yack about it on a message board ... Let's talk sports.

Bombsaway,
The poster that stated Alfred was better on paper is actually a Hobart fan (I believe).  I'm not sure how this game is gonna play out, but I'm as excited as I was travelling up to Ithaca last year at the potential for a great run to end the season.

TGP,
Are you travelling to Alfred this weekend?  If so, stop by the AU Pep Band tent and say hi.  If Saterday's weather is anything like our other home games this year, you'll need a place to escape the hail!

Certainly, AUKaz00, you intended to spell it "exited." After all, Saterday is coming.

GO SAXONS!!!   PEP BANDANAS ON??  GOT SPIRIT??  AU KAZOOS TUNED?  GO SAXONS!!
#600 post.....not a major milestone but getting there.

My computer goes on the fritz for a few days and I come back to find a seldom seen state of disruption.  Couldn't go back and read everything, but it looks like some sort of Springfield infection.

I'm still confounded how a team that doesn't pass keeps winning.  There need be no double coverage as a pass not thrown, need not be defended. Stop the run and make them try to burn you.

Please more knowledgable posters, help me out.

Saxon I think a lot of it just comes down to the athleticism of Chris Sharpe, Andrew Jackson, & co. Sharpe has reportedly mastered his timing, fakes, and decision-making to the point where yes, you do know what's coming and no, you still can't stop it. SJF's D SHUT DOWN IC at Growney... and three days ago Sharpe ran all over them for 7 rushing TDs.

The other thing about Sharpe is that yes, he can also trow da ball. I believe someone said he had a couple big passes at SJF, but one was called back. You are pretty sure he won't throw it, but if he does you don't want to be caught off guard.

That said, IC seems to be the best prepared defense for the onslaught. Butterfield and grass aside, Welch has been seeing this offense for almost 20 years now, and is a much better preperatory coach than Vosburgh. (I know Jose can back me up on that one.) Springfield themselves run the 3-4, like IC, but Springfield's Defense is notoriously crappy, so hopefully getting the looks in practice won't translate.

On another note, I am a big AU fan this weekend, not only because a win helps IC's strength of schedule, but because 1) every team in the LL is overrated and 2) i'm getting sick of the LL.

I am also interested in a pep bandana.

Saxon-
I echoed your comments at this time last week... That's the thing, Sharpe does pose a threat to throw the ball (albeit 4-5 times a game) but you never know when he'll fake the option and drop back. Even if he drops back and you've got his receivers covered he has the ability to create positive yardage out of a broken play. It's hard to describe that offense until you see it first hand but trust me, they'll run on you no matter how many people you put in the box. The fullback is tough & will pound away up the middle, Sharpe will be in the endzone if you make a mistake and go for the wrong guy, and the tailback is actually very quick. Sharpe makes great decisions & runs the offense very nicely. Their D is suspect, but their offense is the real deal.

And keep in mind SJF didn't even see the #1 fullback.

Exactly - I saw Calabrese (sp?), but I hear the starting fullback is even better. Calabrese was damn good & went well over 100 yds vs. Fisher.

Sheesh, I just lost 2k in like 30 minutes..... wha happened?!

EDIT: Hmmm, just realizing it might have something to do with the disparaging comments about the LL.... oh well, carry on.

John McGraw

Springfield mixed up their defense against Fisher between using the 3-4 and the 4-3. There wasn't one used more than the other. Springfield had the most success with four down linemen. Though a few times, the delay blitz by the linebackers wasn't picked up in the 3-4.

I like football, and all of you... and sometimes I get frustrated at work, and I misplace my agressions from the office and direct them at the message board.  There is no place for such conduct and I am seeking professional intervention as we speak.  I would also like to thank Mel Gibson for lending a hand in writing this "typical public apology speech".  Go Ithaca, represent us in a dignified and sportsmen like manor.  Best of luck to all teams, and may the most deserving party emerge successful.

Now, Dubbz thoughts on this upcoming Springfield game.  The Bombers are going to roll into this game with a full head of steam, anger, as will Springfield.  Springfield has just beaten the "real deal"  SJF team. They will be coming in pumped!  Therefore, like in 'Two for the Money', we cant make our predictions on MONDAY!  But, the weather in I-town is GARBAGE this week with possible snow!  The Bomber offense has JUVON and Springfield has the other kid. :) . Juvon, can throw, Sharpe, well i know nothing about his arm.  Therefore I am giving the offensive advantage to the Bombers.  (simply because i have seen them play and have not springfield)  The air attack will be KEY!  Hopefully AIR WELCH will arrive this saterday and we can stop this 5 yard dump pass $%*^!  Man that drives me and other Bomber faithful CRAZY!! throw downfield!

Dubbz,

Anytime, we are please to have met you and more pleased that you join us every weekend!! You guys are all a class act in my book, and i think i can speak for flash also!

GO BOMBERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Flash, Lumpy, Mrs. Flash, Mrs. Bam,  Thank you for the awesome weekend! family and friends were very impressed and are looking forward to holding down Dubbz spot Saterday!

Wow, did we convert the naysayer?  That didn't take long.

John- I am less interested in SC mixing up their defense in games than I am them playing it in practice.  My point about their scheme a few pages ago was in regards to their Offense working against the 3-4 front every day.  That's all.
