the time warner channel has a bunch of crazy stuff on it.

Problem is----syr plays at Cin, and that has been the channel for the syr away games

theicdubbz

who do we have to write an email to at YES?

realistic

I think there are multiple (we'd have a better shot at ESPN since about half the staff is IC alumns -- thats not exagerated either) but I believe one William J Weiss worked or works there.

just found this on Cortlands website.  Looks like it isn't going to be on the main TWS channel....but possibly in others areas live, then definatly on the main channel on tape delay.

OTHER INFORMATION

The game is scheduled to be televised live in Cortland and Tompkins Counties on Time Warner Cable (Channel 98 in Cortland, Channel 99 in Ithaca). The game may also be televised, either live or on tape delay, in other parts of Central New York on Time Warner. Details will be posted here when they are finalized. The television broadcast will not be available via satellite.

One of the all time great personalities in the Lyon Press Box.

It looks like the game will be broadcast live in Cortland and Ithaca (as per usual) but then not shown in the Syracuse market (or others) until 7:00 pm on a tape delay. Colgate vs. Holy Cross will be the live game in the Syracuse market.

Time Warner does have the capability to video cast their feed, but off hand I think they've only done it in special cases. Most recently, they webcast the feed of the Indian River-Massena high school football game so that some of the players parents who're overseas in the armed forces could watch the game.

Not knowing the situation, this could be a case where you would have to contract with Time Warner to webcast the feed for a set fee, but I really don't know.  Though, if you do live in a Time Warner Sports market, the game will be replayed ad naseum over the course of the two weeks following.

The game will still be available with the audio feeds online from WICB and WXHC. Hopefully there isn't a set bandwidth on the WXHC stream. The last few Cortaca broadcasts from the Stadium Complex, the listener count for the Cortland webcast feed was in the 300s.

Just for chuckles, here is YES' schedule for Nov. 11.

1:00 PM Boston vs. New York Poker Challenge Boston vs. New York Poker Challenge
2:00 PM CenterStage (Jerome Bettis) Guest: Jerome Bettis
3:00 PM Penn State Football Story Coach Joe Paterno's weekly show

I hear Boston is pretty good at Poker...

YES! will pick up the Cortaca game next year after it blows the poker event out of the water with its ratings being double what that will bring in.

In the past, YES has shown a package of Ivy League football games featuring all eight teams in the league. I actually enjoy that a lot and now I'm kind of disappointed that they have phased it out a little bit. What happens mostly is that they'll pick up an ESPN regional feed, say some random Big-10 game, and that's it. But, looking at the schedule, they have two Ivy broadcasts the next two weeks, both featuring Yale.

But, in the reality of the situation, it's expensive to produce your own live broadcasts. And if they're not drawing the ratings or the sponsorship, then there's no point in broadcasting it. They may feel they can get more viewers with crappy reality programming.

MSG would be the better choice I think. While it's more of a New York City-oriented channel, they don't shy away from doing remote broadcasts. They have wonderful coverage of local high school football and have a "Game of the Week" package with a different game each week. But, they, like YES, usually stick to an ESPN regional feed on Saturday's.

The only Division III game on ESPN2 I can remember seeing that was not the Stagg Bowl was in the early days of ESPN2. This is when Suzy Kolber and Keith Olbermann were hosting "Sports Night" and they had those god-awful graphics. I think it was in 95 maybe, or 96. DePauw vs. Wabash playing for the Monon Bell. The only reason I watched it was because it started at 11:00am, before the rest of the games kicked off at noon.

That rivalry, and Williams-Amherst both have their games broadcast via satellite from a local provider that's covering. In the case of Williams-Amherst, they're usually on NESN and that feed is on a set satellite channel so people watching around the world can pick it up. Is that possible for Cortland-Ithaca? Maybe, but I don't think anytime soon.

John- actually- espn2 carried cortaca a few years back...

John McGraw

Uhhh, no.

The only station that's been broadcasting it over the last few years has been Time Warner Sports, located in Syracuse. Before that, it was ICTV and occasionally CSTV (Cortland).

I'm sure realistic and some of the other ICTV alums can attest to this.

Besides, no offense, but I think I'd remember something like that.

Time Warner Albany shows section II high school football weekly, but no love for Union, RPI, or even SUNY Albany.  TW did, however, broadcast the RPI 2003 semifinal game (in frickin MN), and the 2005 Union/RPI game.  No word yet about this years shoe's game.

Waay back in the day they used to play an ECAC game of the week on empire sports network, what happened to that?

I think Jose is right about us Fisher fans wanting IC to lose.  It would be nice if IC beat SC then it would still give us a chance at the AQ.  But at the same time it could hurt our pool C chances.  Another Ithaca loss is good for Fisher at this point.  This week against Utica will be a win but the big one is against Alfred in week 11.  I don't know if anyone noticed but Fisher has the bye week before Alfred which should be a huge advantage since it will allow them to rest and prepare better.  Although last year the bye made us look "rusty" in the Alfred game.  Should be a great finish to the season!!

Since the game is already being produced and broadcasted live, there would be no production cost and just a small fee to pick up the game (especially since TW isn't even doing the produciton, but a local high school)  It is only an issue of getting the rights and getting the feed.

I wish MSG would pick it up over some of the crappy games they have, but the reality is the only people that REALLY care are discussing it on this board.
