For my ICbuds,

I believe Spf'ld can be stopped. However unless the def co-od is willing to do something really different Sp'fld knows what they may do.

After much careful consideration, I would play a 5-3 defense with some linebackers who are quicker, on the d-line.

You have to get to Sharpe fast and contain the outside.  Hit him every chance to wear him down.  Passing is the least of your worries and there is no need for double coverage as long as the d-backs are on their assignments.  It can be done.

This can be a real exiting E8 end of season

Problem is that the full-house backfield can protect him long enough to get a pass off.  And if you have the safeties playing up, they can be burnt for easy fly-by TDs.  This is what caught Union in the 2nd half by surprise in Springfield.

So it's "SHOWTIME"............LIVE at Butterfield!

100%  rain.......all day....all niight......all game......

Field has been like a carpet, so the first half should be fine......by the third qtr. it's bound to be a "Mudder"....

Just remember.... Parent's Weekend....Senior's Last home game.....(unless the stars really align right over the last few weeks of the season)....and it's Butterfield..

Yes Frank,

That is what everyone is "afraid" of.  Sharpe has 3 TD passes last I checked.  3.2 passes /game, and 13 comp out of 22 passes for the YEAR.

Where do you want to take your chances.  He runs for about 245 yards / game.

Stop the real threat first.  No one has beaten Spf'ld by stopping the pass. The safeties don't have to play "up".  Are you saying they are unbeatable?

cool CS19,

I almost went to Cortland, but went into engineering at Alfred.  Was all conference in x-country but had many football players in the fraternity I was in.  Also took the football coaching class from Coach Yunevich.

Your goodwill is much appreciated.

I made the 10-0 prediction back on Week 1...So I actually have said they're unbeatable...at least vs. anyone on their schedule in the East.  Quicker, more versatile defenses in other teams in other conferences and/or regions might be a different story.  However, I think they are as strong as they come this year -- moreso than in prior years I've watched them.  Ithaca will go a long way in proving me right or wrong in this one tomorrow.  I'm curious to get some score reports from anyone who is willing to text me during the game.  I'll announce them on our Union broadcast tomorrow.  Just private message me here and we'll work out the logistics.

CS19,

We have IC first but I wouldn't use the word hated.  As you grow older (I guess) it will become more fun than anguish.  As my name Saxon 73 might not be obvious, it indicates the year I graduated.  In time you come to understand that you root for your team but can't expect them to win all the time.  The joy comes in the team being competitive and hoping they will win.  Just hope they make a good showing.  After all you have to recruit.  Take pride in your team and give respect to your opponents.

Best Wishes,
