This week wil be interesting.......the Alfred guys all seem level headed, honest, objective, Saxon loving types....how can we get anything stirred up with them.....????

Ahah!  French Horn attacks...now I get it.....-

TGP's hat is off to the Saxons.  They gave the Statesmen all they could handle.  Looking at the box score it looks it the only place we outplayed the Saxons was in TOP and the scoreboard.

Best of luck in what's turning out to be a wild finish for the E8!

Also, have to tip the hat to IC on the upset of SC.

By telling them they will lose their final 3 games, & at home for that matter - as Ithaca & Fisher go to Alfred and come out with wins.

I wouldn't call it an upset. Ithaca is a tough squad & Springfield has no defense. If anything I'd say Springfield was overrated heading into the game.

Hi
Bout 8 beers deep and 8 too short of forgetting that Alfred lost.  However, I did happen onto the whole sloppy field conditions discussion.  My thoughts for what they are worth:  If a sloppy field benefits anyone, then it would be springfield.  They are a "comin at you, hard nose, offensive team" that knows that their defense sucks but can deal with it cuz their offense is that tough.  Ithaca just beat you at your own game.

My faith next week is in the hands of a guru though, so i still have hope.   Even though AU cant go from sideline to sideline like years past at the linebacker position (Brady), they still have a lot of talent (Niche is a 200 lb. safety that can fly around, a complete jerk that hates everything about everything, too stupid to realize that he should get beat at times, perfect for defense), a defensive guru in Murray (coach of the year last year in the E8), and if Keeley gets hot, he can beat anyone.  Yes anyone.  Critics, come one come all.  Keeley is the real deal.

Keeley is the real deal - but he still couldn't get the job done under 2 minutes & in hobart territory.

The number one team in the region gets knocked off by the number eight team (or whatever it was)? I'd say that's an upset.

Tags, all week you've been saying "Oh man guys, now that I've seen the option, it's unstoppable." "I just don't think IC's D will be able to handle it." Eat some crow! Slop or no, IC's defense played their best game of the year. As I said before, I think Springfield's offensive scheme lines up ok against our defense, because I feel IC's weakness this year has been secondary and pass protection.

I, of couse, will also eat some crow for being the resident doubter on the IC side, but the boys surprised me. Let's just say I was around to make sure you guys didn't jinx us.

If our D plays like that, we can handle AU, Cortland, and anyone in the first couple rounds. I understand the ball control philosophy against SC, but I do think Juvan needs to be able to air it out a bit more. Juvan+Oertel+Gordon is the Bermuda triangle. True, Donovan is a mudder, but that was a porous-ass defense we saw today. AU and Cort will be able to stop him more easily. Although now that I think about it, maybe we shouldn't air it out to much in the Jug, with Stef Sair roaming the secondary.

But the key is how Ithaca won today. It wasn't trading touchdowns. It didn't come down to turnovers. Ithaca just stopped the Pride offense like no one all season has been able to. I myself give most of the credit straight to the coaching staff; they've been working against this stuff longer than anyone (Welch for nearly 20 years now), and they knew what was coming, Golden Helmet award or no. The slop was a small (SMALL) factor, but SC's backs got a lot of running in... it was just mostly veritcal because IC's defense was so well prepared.

What an exciting day at Butterfield. Almost makes up for the Fisher game (almost). You're next Alfred. The Saxon game is just as big as this one. Let's dominate.

I'll let all that slide since you're having a good day and deservedly so. I still would enjoy seeing how your D stacks up against them playing the way they did vs. Fisher.

Congrats on the win.

You gotta be kidding me.  Keeley couldnt get the job done?
He carried that team all day.  He has a rotating backfield and 1 or 2 good offensive players and the others are  just outplaying their abilities.  Keeley is sick.  He's proven himself in a game winning drive last year at Fisher with 4 min. left.

again regarding the ic/sc weather conditions - it's part of the game.  if your offense is built in such a way that it comes apart in bad weather, then youre going to run into problems such as those springfield faced today - especially when youre coming into cayuga-lake-effect-ville.  i guess thats one of the problems with running an offense such as theirs - youre gambling that youre not going to have too many downs in the muck.  i dont think springfield's overrated, since i saw how powerful sjf can be and it would take a hell of a squad to beat them like they did.  i just think that today sc's gamble didn't pay off.

Exactly. Your school is the north-effing-east and you can't play in the elements. Good luck doing ANY damage in the playoffs if that's the case.

As good a day Fisher had and as bad a day IC had, you are mis-analyzing that game. Fisher's defense won that game, plain and simple. IC underestimated everything about the Cardinals, and SJF made them pay, like they should have.

If they played again, you really think that would be the case? Sharpe held to six (SIX!) fewer TDs, just because of slop? I really don't think so. I know Fisher was missing some key defensive starters, but IC was missing their top two against Fisher. IC has looked better every game since then.

If IC and SJF were to play again.... I can't even predict who i think would win. I think it would be much closer, and I'm sure you agree with me there. But what's more impressive? An SJF win (which was really a second-half win) over an IC team that had beaten Buff St. and Craptingdon? Or an IC team beating an SC team on the biggest roll of their lives with ESPNews poster boy Chris Sharpe leading the way? At this point I believe IC and SJF have to be looked at as equals, no matter what happens in any poll.

Did Keeley lead them to a score inside 2 minutes with the game on the line? ........... no.

I admitted he was the real deal, I've watched the kid since Cal-Mum.

Also Orangehat wearer-

Ithaca still has two tough games coming up ... your own E8 hopes are slim as well.

Slim? I beg to differ. I think we're pretty much set at one conference loss.
