A question

When the three way tie scenario was being overplayed....was it my understanding that if all 3 were 9-1 that SJF had a shot at the auto? Does an AU win over IC yesterday ruin SJFs auto chance because now SC has the tie breaker over both AU and SJF??

Also...I couldnt be happier with AU beating IC...nice job

The only way AU or SJF can get an Auto bid is if Springfield somehow loses...then the winner of AU and SJF would be the E8 Champion.

too much reading to catch up---

well here goes--looks like all or nothing this week for Fisher---win and in...

Had the week to prepare--lets hope they did!!!

I hope that some of the Fisher guys took the trip out to Alfred to watch the game and see what they did to the Ithaca offense

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

I know if SC wins they get the auto...but what im saying is when AU beat IC yesterday, that messed up SJFs only chance for an Auto because there would have been a 3 way tie breaker. Now it will come down to pool C.

Also, I think if AU wins then they will get a pool C bid.

Someone posted on "immediate reactions" teams with one loss and there are 9 of them for a potential 7 spots.  I think at least 1 or two of those teams lose and that AU would steal a pool C bid.

Fisher Can still win a pool A bid, so can Alfred...that's what I am saying..But it can't happen in a tiebreaker...If Fisher or Alfred are tied with the pride,  they both lose out on the tie breaker.

Also, I still thank AU has about a 1% chance of getting a Pool C bid, even with a win....It's more likely that a 2 loss team from the OAC would get in before AU,

I guess I wonder what has really changed in the last 48 hours.  If Ithaca and SJF were both good enough to warrant an argument for 3 E8 teams making the tournament if they were all 9-1, then why wouldn't an Alfred team who finished the season beating Ithaca and Fisher be unworthy?  Could there be too many 1 loss teams that Alfred gets locked out?  Sure, but I think that if Alfred can get it done this Saterday they will be one of the last teams selected for the tournament.  I know that I'm biased, but I have to believe this or else be bummed out all week.

Also, since this was the first time Alfred beat Ithaca since 1995, I think there are a lot of fans who are unable to rationally think about how to react.  I know that AUPB and I sat at the Jet for a good hour talking like giddy school girls because we honestly thought the season would end with three straight losses to top 20 teams at home.  Now we have a glimmer of hope and that is a glorious thing!

From where everything stands now, I'd say that the East playoff teams are currently:

Springfield
Union
Rowan
Wilkes
Curry/Coast Guard
St John Fisher
Hobart
Cortland

In my mind the SJF-AU and Hobart-UR matchups will decide the pool C bids for the E8 and the LL, respectively.  I could be wrong, but with the parity that we have amongst the best teams in the East this seems like the most equitable solution (and the most entertaining).

I don't think Alfred fans acted like any fan would in America. Don't blame the fans for being honest. Ithaca Is overrated!

Sarge your living the high life if you think that a 2 loss Alfred team would get in over a 2 loss cortland team or a 2 loss rowan team or even a 2 loss hobart team or a 2 loss UofR team  and the other thing is unless Alfred completly shuts down the fisher offense... which NO ONE HAS DONE yet and holds them under 28.  I mean look at these teams that we're looking at no one has held Fisher under 28 this year and the only teams to score over 20 is Brockport (which I still don't get but props to port for doing it) and Springfield where I think Mike Vick, Vince Young and the Broncos O-Line were playing for Springfield

I think i'm having a deja vu.  Isnt this pretty much the same scenario as last year?  Fisher was this.  Fisher was that.  Then they were held to their lowest point total all year (i cant remember the final but i know it was around 10).  Fisher couldnt block anyone on our defense and on the last drive we confused them enough that on 4 or 5 downs they let a kid named Brady demolish a young qb by not even blocking him.  If fisher's offense is so great, why were they not blocking the best defensive player in the E8?  Because they aren't THAT great.  Very good, agreed.  But Murray is no slouch.  Look for some weaknesses and holes to be exposed in the fisher blocking schemes this week.  There's a reason he was the coach of the year last year.

Sarge - Better stop yappin like that b/c you'll regret it if Fisher puts up 30+ against your boys.  This is 2006, not 2005 - Living in the past isn't going to help much.

You can't come flying out of the woodwork with a comment like that. Overrated why, b/c AU took one game?
