What in the world just happened at the end of the cowboys/redskins game!

AU seems to be referencing their 2 losses as only being by 1 touchdown each and that their "only miscue" was a fumble against SC which determined the game....

SC was up the entire game by 14 points including in the 4th quarter when AU scored a harmless td with 11 seconds left. That game was never in question.

I don't think Alfred fans acted like any fan would in America. Don't blame the fans for being honest. Ithaca Is overrated!

You can't come flying out of the woodwork with a comment like that. Overrated why, b/c AU took one game?

I agree Tags.  Ithaca is in no way overrated.  They are a top 20 program and that is why I was so impressed (and surprised) with Alfred's win yesterday.  I've been contending for weeks that the top 4 in the E8 were all equally matched and each game would come down to execution, home field advantage and luck.

Vanderjagt ran his mouth so much that he's the most accurate kicker ever that he missed again... Taylor ran it back to the 30 or so & I think the Skins kicked the winner.

AU's home games are broadcast by WLEA-AM 1480 in Hornell but are NOT broadcast over the internet. WLEA has a local access channel on Time-Warner Cable that carried audio from WLEA's coverage of Hornell High School's Section V Tournament football game, but that's probably just in the Hornell market.

Sorry, Tags....AU President Charley Edmondson was rumored as saying he'd like to get webcasting of AU games, but nothing at present. Alfred really isn't such a bad place to visit, if you can find it. Confident the game will be well worth the $5 admission price.

I don't know whose horn you are hearing but you don't quite have your facts correct. SP was not up the entire game by 14 points.

 According to published drive charts and press releases from both schools, the following info is available.

3:51, 1st Qtr  SP-6  AU-6            6:19, 2nd Qtr  SP-13  AU-13
7:19, 3rd Qtr  SP-27  AU-20        9:27, 4th Qtr   SP-34  AU-27

The fumble in question ocurred at12:06 4th Qtr which would at that time have tied the game, certainly a turning point in momentum.

Thinking here is that AU beat an excellent Ithaca team. If there is any miscalculation of ratings, would think it would be AU being underrated.... It certainly doesn't make AU look any better by calling a quality program like IC "overrated." In fact, AUPepBand was somewhat dismayed that a few AU students (minus class) began chanting "Overrated" at the end of yesterday's game...no one joined in their antics and they were soon quieted.

Calling the team "overrated" that you have just beaten for the first time since Clinton was in his first term in the White House in truth belittles the Saxons' fine effort.

AU pulled to within 34-27 early in the fourth quarter. An apparent stop on fourth-and-short in AU territory late in the game was nullified when Chris Sharpe took the ball away from the stacked-up Andrew Jackson and ran for a TD, giving SC a 41-27 lead and seemingly driving the nail in the coffin. Nevertheless, AU responded with a long drive and, indeed, scored with 11 seconds remaining. The subsequent onside kick was recovered by SC and that was the ball game.

AUPepBand was at the game. In fact, a Sprinfield fan, after the game, said the AU Pep Band was the best band at the game!

By the way, I'd like to know who's tooting the Saxons' horn....we could use him in the band this Saterday!

Basically, Springfield scored TDs on 6 of their 10 possessions.
AU scored TDs on 5 of their 10 possessions, with one possession ending with a fumble at the SC 5-yard-line, the only turnover on the day.

Listen Springfield WON thats all that matters, whether it was a point, or 40 points. You can't compare any two games. A loss is a loss and they have to beat SJF to get a pool C bid, assuming SC takes care of Norwich.
