scgrad1999,

No one is disputing who won.  The discussion concerned aspects of the game mentioned by fan of d3.  It is only rational that the discussion be factual.

Saxon73,

Agreed completely, but I just dont see it necessary to argue/discuss whatever you want to call it, over something that cant be changed.  I think discussing next week is definitley a good idea, but whats done is done. I gotta say also, Alfred is rolling and I would hate to SJF right now. Hopefully they used that bye-week to their advantage.

Show me the true hearted son of old Springfield
who doesn't love the spot ! ! ! where the Massasoit flows!

scgrad1999,

The only"change" intimated in the discussion was that it be factual.  The information put forth by fan of d3 was misleading to readers not so familiar with the reality of the situation.

SCG99,
I think the discussion revolving around how AU lost to SC has to do with what is considered a "quality loss."  When the pool C candidates get decided on by the selection committee, that is one of the criteria for inclusion.  So, the argument seems to be whether or not the Alfred loss to Springfield was a quality loss.  Maybe I'm reading into this too much, but that seems to be my take on the issue.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

Sarge your living the high life if you think that a 2 loss Alfred team would get in over a 2 loss cortland team or a 2 loss rowan team or even a 2 loss hobart team or a 2 loss UofR team  and the other thing is unless Alfred completly shuts down the fisher offense... which NO ONE HAS DONE yet and holds them under 28.  I mean look at these teams that we're looking at no one has held Fisher under 28 this year and the only teams to score over 20 is Brockport (which I still don't get but props to port for doing it) and Springfield where I think Mike Vick, Vince Young and the Broncos O-Line were playing for Springfield

I think i'm having a deja vu.  Isnt this pretty much the same scenario as last year?  Fisher was this.  Fisher was that.  Then they were held to their lowest point total all year (i cant remember the final but i know it was around 10).  Fisher couldnt block anyone on our defense and on the last drive we confused them enough that on 4 or 5 downs they let a kid named Brady demolish a young qb by not even blocking him.  If fisher's offense is so great, why were they not blocking the best defensive player in the E8?  Because they aren't THAT great.  Very good, agreed.  But Murray is no slouch.  Look for some weaknesses and holes to be exposed in the fisher blocking schemes this week.  There's a reason he was the coach of the year last year.

Sarge - you're crazy man.  Fisher is THAT great believe me.  They have an incredibly balanced football team and can beat any team in the east on any given day.  Like somebody said last year was last year.  I would calm down cause I guarantee Fisher puts up 30 + points on AU.

Wow.  30+.  haha.  I have to give you credit.  You do have balls.  I hope you're only playing devil's advocate to get something stirring here.  Either way, i'll bite.
You're delusional.  Fisher will not put up 30 points.  Won't happen.  Fisher is good, but AU has a very good chance at beating them.  Murray is too good of a defensive strategist to give up 30 barring some kind of accident that injures the entire starting defense.

You've held SJF under 29 pts once in 4 years...

Its not unrealistic to think SJF could score 30 pts this weekend, however with Keeley having a break out year they may have to...

Record of Alfred vs. St. John Fisher Series:
(Alfred leads series, 5-3)

1992--Alfred 24, Fisher 6
1995--Alfred (forfeit)
1999--Alfred 20, Fisher 14
2000--Alfred 43, Fisher 14
2002--Fisher 34, Alfred 26
2003--Fisher 29, Alfred 22
2004--Fisher 30, Alfred 20
2005--Alfred 13, Fisher 7

I count two times in seven games in which Fisher scored 30+ points against AU. Alfred was within at least 10 points in both games.

Gentlemen, AUPepBand cannot predict the future. AU's "no-name" defense performed admirably against a formidable opponent on Saterday. Time will tell whether they do likewise against a very potent Fisher attack on Veteran's Day.

Sarge - You'll need more than your defensive strategist to hold Fisher anything more than 10 points under their season average... Say, Ray Lewis?
