"He appeared ready to score when AU senior middle linebacker Nick Gatto tackled him at the AU 2-yard line, forcing a fumble that was recovered by senior cornerback Mike Coupe. After Ithaca turned the ball over on downs on its final two possessions Alfred had secured its first win over the Bombers since a 13-12 victory in 1995."

i wasn't there but i heard that the ithaca offense was amazing

Couldn't see it from my vantage point, but it appeared the IC receiver was separated from the ball when he was knocked out of bounds. Ball must have remained in bounds and was recovered by Coupe...it was in the home side north end. Officials were right there and awarded the ball to Alfred at the 2.

As I posted before, I saw the game's Turning Point coming with Dan Medlock's INT that set up Keeley's 8-yard TD pass to TE Gibbins, giving AU a 21-17 lead going into halftime.
AU defense stepped up in second half, inspired no doubt by the offense's TD drive to open the third quarter, building AU's lead to 28-17. That successful drive, IMO, took Ithaca away from their strength (running game) and put more pressure on their young QB to make plays.

Keeley made some incredible third-down plays (and a fourth down run for a first down) that gave the Saxons opportunities to finish their drives. Seemed like first game (aside from Norwich) when both defense and offense were at their best.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

p.s.  Mr. Napoleone I still smile everytime an Ithaca poster shows Fisher some love.  That's that unity I was talking about baby!  Regardless of how many teams the E8 sends into the playoffs or who gets sent, I will root for them as if they were my own (unless they play Fisher naturally).

Ditto - Whoever is left standing in the E8 I'll be rooting for.

Count me in! If Fisher takes care of business at Merrill Field, they will be most deserving, along with Springfield, of AUPepBand's support.

That may be the case, but no guarantee there are fewer than seven one-loss teams to open up a spot for Alfred, even though they have two close losses to power teams.

Just so you know, not to be stealing your dreams or anything.

When I said "Count me in" I was referring to supporting any E8 teams that advance to the NCAA Playoffs. I was not saying "Count Alfred in the dance." Nevertheless, AU's only hope of getting invited is to beat Fisher Saterday. And even if they accomplish that, it will take a grocery list of factors among other teams to give Alfred a chance to dance.

Of course a grocery list of things have already happened to get us to this very weird spot so who knows what could happen!

Perhaps the most useless thing that's been said on here this entire week.

Medlock played well indeed. Four tackles, one assist, two picks w/returns totaling 68 yards, five pass defense. The DBs stepped up. Rammacher had a great game too... drew an offensive pass interference on a long pass inside the 10. Kenny Johnson had 6 tackles and a pass defense.

Any word recently on Fuentes, pepband?   I don't believe I've heard anything in a while.

Last update from you was pretty encouraging... Hopefully he is on track for a full recovery.

scgrad1999

Does anyone have an idea of what the first round of the playoffs could look like....specifically who SC might wind up playing. I've heard Curry? Thoughts?
Show me the Scotchman that doesn't love the thistle!
Show me the Englishman that doesn't love the rose!
Show me the true hearted son of old Springfield
who doesn't love the spot ! ! ! where the Massasoit flows!
