I dont see how allowing 21 points a game is a terrible thing. Granted its not wonderful but the combination of SC's offense which should win the National Rushing Title again, and a decent defense sounds pretty good to me, but granted i am bias.

Upstate's probably a little bitter but seems like you're on the opposite end of the spectrum eh? ... A little too confident in your offense's ability to overcome a weak defense. In the tourney it'll be a different ballgame, you won't be able to score every posession... then what?

and now before you guys jump down my throat i understand its not lose, its loss

I'll take the blame for all this nit picking over spellings, etc. Was just being giddy (hungover from Saterday) about recievers (receivers). When first posting here early last year, AUPepBand made the mistake of correcting someone's spelling and was swiftly kicked in the pants. But given our man Gatto has trumped Webster and singlehandedly changed the spelling of both Saturday (Saterday) and excited (exited) on the E8 board, thought the Band could point out others' flaws. Please accept Pep's most humbly apology. Spell Check OFF.

Upstate, I did not want to get into a which team is better because this board is supposed to be all in good fun however if you're trying to argue about who has the better offense or defense...you would lose that case based on the fact that SJF LOST to springfield.Your defense gave up more points than ours, and  your offense did not score as much...

If springfield played Kings, or Mt Ida for our out of conference games our numbers would look nice and pretty too...Instead we just get the W's and didnt start whining.  And yes missing jackson is huge the kid is a beast and is tops in the country in td's even though he has missed about 1/4 of the season.

Not in the least, Im one of the biggest SJF critics on here.  However, im not going to sit Idle if someone says that a Defense that allows ONLY 12pts a game (including the double nickle that SC put up) isnt a good Defense because of one bad game w/ 3 starters out vs a great offense....

Well thought out. So what does it mean when Ithaca stomps Springfield? ... You could do no wrong that day vs. Fisher, and honestly hats off. But I guarantee it would be a different story if there were a rematch.

scgrad1999

All im saying is that SC's defense is constantly crapped on, and I know there nothing to write home about, but I just dont think they're as bad as everyone says. One of the best parts of the triple option is that it takes up huges chunks of clock when done right, thus keeping the other offense off the field. However, SC needs to do more of this to go far in the playoffs.

however tags, Springfield didn't go on to lose to Alfred, or anyone else for that matter, a rematch would probably be a different game but i dont think you can say SJF would have an advantage really

You're right, we wont be able to score every possesion...but then again, neither will our opponents.. Thats just football.

Union averages 31 a game and sc gave up 30
Alfred averages 27 and we gave up a td with 11 seconds to make it 34
we held fisher under their average
gave up 4 more points to hartwick then fisher did
held brockport 17 under what fisher did.

It looks like SC's D has been right around where it should be in terms of numbers, they arent giving up 30 or 40 consistently, those are just high powered offenses and SC held them to where they needed to.

and when Ithaca stomps IC it was because IC did what they had too.
Also, you cannot guarantee something like Fisher beating us just like I cant guarantee us beating them again...you cant guarantee something you dont know

I never said Fisher would have any sort of advantage. I said it would be a much different ballgame.

Ok guys here's the deal...

How many shutouts? How many times have you held an opponent to single digits? ....... stop already.

Just play to your strenghts... for the love of God ignore the defense comments and stay with your offensive numbers.
